Melanie's POV

     I heard a loud boom coming from outside, waking me up. I quickly put on the clothing Cadenza made me, along with arming my sword. I ran outside, and stopped in my tracks.

     There were shadow souls... Everywhere. I know because Amber taught me back when she was my trainer. And there was... Laurence. I grabbed my sword and swung it through one that came towards me. In a few minutes, Jack and Lily showed up next to me.

"What's going on?" Lily cried, grabbing an identical bow and arrows to Jack.

"I'm not sure, but let's hold them off!" I yelled, using my sword. Garroth's training came to my head, and I let his memory guide me as I fighter the souls.

~-MEMORY-~

"Now duck!" Garroth yelled, swinging the sword at my head. I crouched down, avoiding his swing and jumped up, aiming at his legs.

Garroth jumped over my sword, and our swords collided. 

"Good job. Now, can you avoid this?" He asked, taking his sword and swinging at my waist. I tucked and rolled, getting up on my feet and pointing the sword at his neck. Garroth chuckled.

"Not bad... For your first day." He said. I smirked, letting him go.

"You might even say I'm better than you." I teased. Garroth shook his head no.

"You've still got a long way to go for that. But soon enough, I'm sure you'll be there."

~-MEMORY OVER-~

"Melanie!?" I finished off the soul I was fighting and turned, thinking it was Jack.

"What!?" I cried. Then, my jaw dropped down.

Laurence was there, staring at me. I blinked multiple times to stop the tears, in which I was successful.

"Where have you been?" He yelled,,fighting a sword that came after me. I frowned.

"Like you care." I snorted, stabbing a soul right in the heart.

"Of course I do, I love-"

"Don't finish that sentence, Laurence! Please don't!" I pleaded, pulling my hood over my head and running to Cadenza's side after I saw two shadow souls near her. 

I was too late. A piercing scream filled my ears, and the next thing I know, Cadenza is being taken away by the shadow souls.

"Cadenza!" I shouted, running towards her. A group of shadow souls noticed me and turned around, ready to kill. Someone tackled me to the ground, and I groaned in pain.

"Melanie! Those are Shadow Souls! They're looking for bodies-" Laurence started to say but I cut him off.

"To inhabit, I know! Laurence, you don't have to protect me from these things anymore, I've dealt with them before." I said, grabbing my diamond sword that had skidded across the ground.

"Yeah I do. Like I said, I-"

"Laurence, don't!" I warned him. He was testing me. I knew somewhere deep inside I still loved him, but I wasn't going to let him know that.

"Melanie, you have to listen to me." He pleaded. I glared at him.

"I will never listen to you Laurence. I will never let you tell me you love me, and then rip that away from me. Never again." I growled, turning on my heel and running into the woods to find Cadenza, the only person in this world who loved me like family.

After I helped rescue Cadenza, she asked me to stay with her for extra protection, which I didn't mind. I was listening to Aphmau and Vincent's conversation, until...

"W-wait... You're saying those Shadow Souls could've spawned all over the place?!"

"Yes, they are very organized-"

"I NEED TO LEAVE NOW!" Aphmau fled the house, taking a horse.

It took me a while to realize why she left.

"Wait... PHOENIX DROP!" I cried, grabbing my sword and backpack, and fleeing to Jack and Lily.

Cloud, Vincent and Jack better not replace Garroth, Laurence and Dante, or I'll kill someone!
