Chapter Twenty

Sorry I keep switching POVs, I enjoy writing it this way😁

Third person pov

There was this voice in his head telling him to stop and that he knew exactly where this was heading, and as much as he didn't care about a lot of things in the world, he was a  ... What was the word again?

He rubbed her through her undergarment and she moaned against his lips. The sound made him want to take her up against the wall at that very moment. His lips left her lips to her neck, and his fangs ached to be buried in one of her veins as he kissed his way to her collarbone.

He was a vampire who cared about his sister. That wasn't the word he was looking for, but it was damn near to whatever was on his mind and it would have to do.

Lucien could barely think. Not when he had this human in his arms, not when the scent of her arousal and blood were driving him almost mad. He could almost imagine his sister's face right now, her green eyes glowering at him.

The girl in his arms was the prize of a duel. Duels were taken as seriously as the laws governing any kingdom. Some considered it sacrilege to mess with one. And here he was. Even if he knew she would be his one minute after the duel begins, he shouldn't ...

He pulled away from the human, surprising himself for yielding such strength.

Her brown eyes were wide with surprise, her lips swollen from his kiss. He was surprised her gown was still in one piece. It was rumpled, and bunched up but it was in one piece.

He looked up to the ceiling and breathed. Wrong decision, he only smelled her. When he stared back at her, she had managed to readjust her gown, and her eyes were on the ground.

"Leave", he spoke.
Leave before I rip your clothes apart, and bury myself inside you.

He couldn't believe he had uttered the word.

She bobbed a curtsy without sparing him a glance. "Yes, your Majesty".

And she left.

He loved his sister and hated her at the same time for that.

Prefon's pov

Leave.

The word was cold enough to make a strong male cry, but all I felt was dread. I had lost track of time, Mistress Elena was going to find me, and she might not ... will not kill me, but she most definitely was going to do something, and that made me scared.

There was no way I could try to escape now so I had to go back to her.

My legs still shook as I ran from one hallway to another, completely lost and at the same time completely not me. Prefon would have stopped to ask for direction, she would have ...

I stopped moving.

The kiss, correction, kisses, had left my brain cells numb. I could still feel him pressed against me, feel his hands on places where I didn't think I would like being touched, and still feel the evidence of his desire. I could still feel him. And it was messing with my ability to think.

Even the guards seemed to be engrossed in the subject of discussion of the day which was, the duel. Not even one questioned why a human was running down hallways like she was mad. I allowed myself the chance to sit on the ground and breathe.

And then ...

"There she is!", Someone thundered.

I turned.

Mistress Elena's guards were approaching me quickly.

~~

I kept my face perfectly blank even though I was trembling on the inside as Mistress Elena barked at the guards.

"Leave us!".

Leave

His voice came back to haunt me.
And now I was in Mistress Elena's clutches again, my brain replayed the moment, and my heart sank for a reason I wasn't sure I knew.

Mistress Elena began circling my body, and I counted each step she took. She stopped in front of me, her face the epitome of calm which would have deceived me if I hadn't known her for years. Her voice was cold enough to send chills down my spine but hard enough to shatter glass when she asked. "Where were you?".

I opened my mouth and closed it.
What was I supposed to tell her?

Her eyes narrowed dangerously. "Where", she paused. "Were", another pause, "You?!!", She thundered.

I swallowed. My heart was beating hard in my chest. I knew I should say something, but what?

Was I supposed to say;
I attempted to run away but fainted in the arms of a male I had thought was a traveler but hold on ... was the king of vampires? At that moment, I would probably laugh and say Can you believe it? Then I woke up in his room, and he wasn't quite what I expected. He was ...

My brows lowered, and for a moment I was transported back to his room.

He had been kind. He should have punished me for running away but he hadn't. He should have taken me straight to Mistress Elena when I fainted in the forest but he didn't. I felt comfortable in his presence, I had spoken when I wasn't supposed to, stared at his beautiful eyes which I knew I wasn't allowed to. I had felt safe in his presence.

And when he had kissed me, I felt ... I couldn't properly describe what I felt, but I had kissed him back not because it was expected, but because I wanted to and I had enjoyed every single second of it, I had enjoyed every single second of what he did to my body.

I felt my cheeks heat, and my gaze fell on the tiles. He wasn't rough like Prince Ranesh, I almost shivered at the thought of that name. The king had been ... well, he hadn't exactly been gentle, but it had felt extraordinary. Extraordinarily right.

And when he had stopped and had told me to leave, it hurt.

Dear creator, what was wrong with me?

I stared back into Mistress Elena's eyes. "I was with the vampire King", I offered, surprising myself by how steady my voice was.

King Lucien.
Even his name was beautiful.

Her eyes narrowed to the point it looked like she was squinting. "Why are you smiling like a damn fool?".

I was?
My eyes dropped to the tiles. I had no idea I was.

"Oh my", she breathed. " Look at me!", She almost roared, and my eyes shot to hers immediately. It took exactly four seconds for Mistress Elena to take a step back away from me, her eyes wide, and her mouth open in what could only be shock.

She blinked more than was necessary as if something got in her eyes, "You", one slim perfect finger pointed at me. And then she started to laugh, and it was the most humorless laughter I had heard in my lifetime.

I swallowed, utterly confused.

Her laughter seized and she stared at me. "You have got yourself a crush", she stated.

My brows furrowed.
A crush?
What was that? Because I was absolutely sure it wasn't the smashing kind of crush I knew.
I searched my brain for the meaning of it. A crush ... I must have heard it somewhere, from someone, perhaps during my lessons.

Mistress Elena went on. "Well, I can not blame you. His beauty is legendary, you would not be a female of any kind not to swoon", Her eyes took on a dreamy look. "He is irresistible, and whenever his blood thirst is sated, his eyes shift from that dreadful crimson to the most magnificent color I have ever gazed upon ", Her eyes met mine, " I do not fault you".

I didn't know how to react so I remained still, continuing my mental search of the word crush. And also taking note of what she had said. His eyes are crimson when his thirst wasn't sated.

That explained why he and his sister's were crimson yesterday.

"But still", Mistress Elena flashed, eliminating the distance between us. "I did not raise you to be stupid", she spat. Closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and opened them. "I do not wish to know how you ran into him. I do not care about that".

Thank the creator.

" I just want to know", her voice became a whisper. " Did he touch you?".

There was silence. For different reasons on both sides. She was quiet because she was waiting for an answer, I was quiet because I was replaying everything that had happened in his room.

My cheeks heated.
Her eyes widened, and from the twitching of her hands, she was holding herself back from striking me. She had figured it out.

"Oh my", she breathed. "Are you completely, irrevocably, abominably insane?!", Her voice rose to a roar. I flinched. "How stupid could you possibly be to ... ", She closed her eyes, took in a deep breath, and opened them. " Are you still a virgin?", her eyes pierced mine.

I nodded.

"Good. Very good", she sighed. "He's a king. The king of vampires at that. I'm certain you were helpless, I do not fault you", she stated, and I nodded. " Will you stop blushing and smiling?", She fired.

"Sorry", I murmured.

She sighed again. " Thank the creator you are still a virgin, if he had ...", She trailed off, but I filled in the words she couldn't say in my head." That would be a huge problem if the alpha king wins you".

I blanched.

" If he had found out you are not a virgin", she shivered noticably. " Not even the creator would save me from his wrath", Then she smiled. " But you are, and all that matters now is to make you look presentable for that duel".

She called in maids after that, and they all worked on making me look presentable.
