They're Everywhere...

The morning sun was harsh in her eyes as it shown down on her, and she woke blinking and bleary eyed. Beside her Toxin was already awake, finishing off his breakfast. Elijah was also awake, polishing his iron blade.

Nikita woke fully, stretching, and felt the Ender Dragon stir as well.

"Finally awake?" Asked Elijah, smiling slightly.

"I couldn't sleep at all." She said, standing and stretching again.

"Dreams?" Asked Elijah.

"Nightmares." Answered Nikita.

"Every time it's the same thing. White eyes and fire, shadows and his promise. The promise to find us and kill every last one of us."

Beside her she felt Toxin shudder.

"That's some scary stuff." He said, looking over at her.

Nikita nodded her head.

"Then we can't let him catch us before we make it to Whitecap, can we?" Said Elijah, standing and offering his hand to Nikita.

She took it, and he pulled her to her feet.

"I'm going to fly with the Dragon today."

She summoned her diamond blade to her with a small flash of blue light and saw Toxin's eyes grow a little wider.

The Ender Dragon lowered her neck so Nikita could climb on, and they waited for the army to get organized before they took off.

Lead the way. She told Toxin.

Nikita could see the mountains looming above the army now, their snow capped peaks piercing the clouds above them.

She could also see where the forest began to turn from oak, spruce and birch trees into tall pine trees and aspen trees, and where they began to thin as they climbed up the mountain side.

They were getting closer to their goal, but it was still far away.

Too far away. She thought.

If they join us, what will be your plan then? Asked the Dragon as they flew over the forest.

Move the army into the city, give them protection, food and shelter. They will train during their time there as well. Said Nikita.

And I will to.

After that? She asked.

I don't know how long we will stay in Whitecap, it depends on how much time it takes to merge the two armies, and get our soldiers back to their normal selves. She said.

I know that they're all tired, beaten and worn. I can see it in their eyes.

And you are to. Said the Dragon, turning her head so she could look at Nikita with her purple eyes.

I can feel it.

That I am. Said Nikita.

Fighting Herobrine and being on the move constantly has taken a tole on me.

It has taken a tole on all of us. The Ender Dragon said, looking back towards the mountains.

The rest of the journey was quiet. Nikita quite liked being up in the sky where the only sound was the Dragon's wings beating the air, the wind and the birds that flew with them.

No swords clashing or cries of pain. No hissing voices and taunting words. No death, no blood, just... peace. Something that Nikita knew wouldn't last very long.

Around evening time the forest had started to switch to pine trees and aspens, and the ground was beginning to get rockier as they reached the foothills of the mountains.

We should stop for the night. Said the Dragon.
Agreed. Said Nikita.

Have you found a good place to rest? Nikita asked Elijah.

Yeah, there's a series of cave systems near the spot, but we should be fine. He said.

Alright.

The Ender Dragon circled around and landed on the edge of the space they were using as a camp. The soldiers tied horses to trees and bushes and got their meal for the evening.

Nikita looked around at all of the men and women that were now talking amongst themselves, and thought about how many weren't here. She pushed the thought away, however, and got her own meal of water, bread and salted pork.

"Nikita!" Called a voice.

"Thomas!" She said, smiling as he wrapped her in a bear hug.

"How are you?" He asked.

"Good, you?"

"Fine." He said.

She saw her parents come over and they each hugged her in turn. Her mother smiled at her.

"You're a good leader, Nikita." She said.

"I'm proud of you, for everything we have been through, for everything that you went through, I'm glad that you've managed to come through it all."

"We still have more to go through, I'm afraid." Said Nikita, looking at each of them.

"We'll make it through." Said Thomas.

"I know that we will."

Nikita smiled.

"Thank you."

She then went and sat down by Toxin and Elijah, finishing her meager meal, watching as the sun slipped below the horizon.

When the stars came out she heard and saw the activity around her quiet as the soldiers prepared to sleep.

Nikita herself stayed up instead of going to sleep, again watching the stars. She was quietly polishing her armor and sword, keeping herself busy while the others slept.

Then she heard a branch snap, and the sounds of low groans. She quickly put her armor on and quietly crept over to where the sound was coming from.

As she moved silently through the forest her heart pounded a fast, steady beat against her ribcage, the adrenaline making her senses sharper.

Nikita followed the sound of the groans, and as she got closer she heard the rattling of bones of skeletons and the hisses of creepers.

Then she saw them, a group of about 50 or more mobs, all coming steadily closer to where the army was camped.

Wake up the others! Nikita told the Ender Dragon, yelling you get her attention.

Is there danger? She asked.

Yes. Mobs. A lot of them.

Nikita heard the sound of the army waking, soldiers grabbing swords and horses neighing in fear.

They're back at the camp. She thought.

Nikita gritted her teeth and then spring at the mobs, flying through the air as a lightning bolt struck her sword, charging it with energy.

Nikita swung the glowing diamond blade expertly, slashing and stabbing zombies. When she encountered the creepers she got close enough for them to start to hiss and then ducked behind a tree, allowing them to blow up the mobs around them.

Nikita was finishing off a zombie when she heard the sound of horse hooves coming closer to her, and then saw Elijah, his iron blade glinting in the moonlight. He rode into the mass of mobs, swinging his sword and taking off the mobs' heads as he did.

"Are they back at the camp?" She asked over the noise, throwing her sword at a nearby zombie.

"Yes!" Shouted Elijah.

"Go and help them!" He said.

"I've got this under control."

Nikita nodded to him, and summoned her sword back to her, cutting through the mobs and bursting into the clear air, running through the forest to the camp, ducking as skeleton's arrows flew over her head and embedded themselves in the trees around her.

It was pure chaos. Soldiers fought mobs all over the place, and several lay injured. The Ender Dragon did what she could, which was little, seeing that she couldn't use her fire for fear of burning the forest down and killing their own men.

She swiped at the monsters with her tail and claws, picking them up and throwing them with her jaws.

Nikita threw herself into the fray, hacking and stabbing the mobs around her, the diamond blade that she held in her hand tracing a glowing blue line through the air.

She knew that she had to stop this, or the rest of the the soldiers would be too injured to fight. She got onto the middle of the fray and told the soldiers to back off.

Once they were all along the edge of the forest, she plunged her sword into the ground and let out the trapped energy, blasting the mobs backwards and killing them.

Nikita then told the soldiers to look in the forest for more and told ten to follow her to help Elijah. They found him fighting the last of the group of mobs, which the soldiers quickly dispatched.

"Is that all of them?" He asked, turning to Nikita.

It was then that she realized that there was an arrow sticking out of his shoulder. He hadn't had time to put on his armor, and it was a wonder that he wasn't dead.

"Come on, you're hurt." She said, turning back towards camp.

Elijah sighed and turned his horse to follow her. When they got back she saw the few medics that they had tending to people's injuries.

She saw that Toxin had escaped relatively unscathed, a few cuts marking his arms and face.

"Normally they don't do that." Said Toxin, coming up to Nikita.

"It's weird, how they acted tonight. And they seemed... organized. The mobs around here come in small, unorganized and spread out groups, and never in these numbers..."

"These aren't normal times." Said Nikita, helping Elijah off his horse and over to a medic who immediately took him and began to look him over.

Thirty minutes later things started to calm down, but knowing that sleep wasn't going to come Nikita decided to keep watch at the edge of the camp, reaching her mind out to all of the living creatures in the forest, feeling their presence and searching for any darker forces that roamed the night.

She stayed like this until Elijah came and tapped her on the shoulder.

"You need sleep." He said, looking into her dull and tired eyes.

Nikita's eyes drifted to the sling Elijah's arm was now in, and internally winced. Too many people had been hurt tonight in the battle, people who shouldn't have been.

Nikita sighed.

"Yeah, I need to sleep, I know, but I can't leave us open to attack." She said.

"We will be fine." Said Elijah, gazing into her eyes.

"Just come back, get some rest. Whitecap isn't far." He said.

Nikita got up from where she had been sitting and followed Elijah, her mind still touching the living environment around her.

When she got over to where the others were sleeping she collapsed next to Toxin, who was already fast asleep. She asleep within minutes, and for the first time in a while she had a peaceful night's sleep.
