Cunning, not convincing

"My pride has left me shaking
Oh I can't believe that you could be deceiving
My teeth are rotting out my mouth
From something sweet to poison
I can live without
I know you'll die without me

Is it your conscience that keeps you running
I've got a feeling
I'm on to something more
You think you're cunning
It's so convincing
You're gonna miss me I've warned you once before"

Poseidon looked at Percy in shock, the hurt and sadness clearly evident in his sea green eyes. He snapped his mouth shut and frowned sadly as Percy turned his head back forwards, the scowl still there.

Ares kissed his teeth, he had hoped that his commander would've at least let his father call him by his birth name after FIVE YEARS FROM BEING AWAY FROM HIM. But no, he was still as cold and hostile as he ever was.

Him and Nico were often mistaken as siblings for their hostility, but when ever someone assumed that, Nico would start spluttering about how 't-that is s-so gr-gross!'.

Speaking of Nico, he was currently looking at their commander out of the corner of his eye. Was his crush still there? Yes, yes it was. 'Course he's had a boyfriend or two in the past few years, but Percy was always his number one. Without said demigod knowing of course.

Percy's denseness was proving to be very helpful in this situation. He knew Nico was gay, but that was all that he knew. Somehow word hadn't reached his ears that the whole uproar was indirectly because of him.

At first this would've annoyed Nico, but now he thanked whatever god was the one who was of stupidity. If Percy found out, Nico didn't know what he would do. He would never be able to look at Percy ever again out of shame. He couldn't start to imagine what Percy would think of him. He'd probably stop talking to me, it'd ruin our friendship, everything would be so awkward.

The teen was brought out from his thoughts when he heard the all-familiar sound of a gun getting cocked. The sound wasn't loud at all, but the four soldiers had been trained to hear everything and see everything around them. He turned his head to where the noise came from and saw Luke pointing his Desert Eagle pistol at Zeus' forehead.

"Traitor of Olympus! How dare you enter our throne room! You will perish at my hand!" Zeus yelled at Luke from across the room while Luke calmly stood there, pointing his pistol at Zeus incase he got violent. The blue eyed demigod rolled his eyes. "Listen, King of the Gods, I. Was. Framed. When Hermes was going around knocking up women, I was left at home with my mom." He licked his lips as he shifted on his feet. "Before I left home, I was confronted by Kronos. He threatened to kill her if I didn't ally myself with him. Then a few years later he fully took over my body."

He lifted the pistol higher. "Do you know how horrible it is to be trapped in your own mind for FIVE YEARS?! He was only stopped when he finally let me have control to see the damage he had done! In th-" Before Luke could continue, Percy put a hand on his forearm. "In that short period of time Perseus handed Luke his sword and Luke stabbed himself in his Achilles spot. End of story. If you attack anyone of us, you are announcing war against Ares. Think wisely Zeus."

Zeus glared at Percy. His hand was twitching towards his master bolt. Sparks were shooting out of his eyes as he tensed. Eventually, he swallowed, and leaned back in his throne. Still glaring of course. He turned to the god of war with a look that said 'explain'.

Ares nodded to his father. "When Octavian was kicked out of his camp because he was accused of being a traitor, when Nico ran away because the camp hated him, when Luke had to fake his death because he knew you would kill him, and finally when Percy ran away from camp because of heartbreak. All these boys were tossed away like yesterday's trash, and you ignored that fact. I decided to give them a reason to keep fighting by training them to be my secret personal team of men, because let's be honest, my sons and daughters would've told someone by now." A few Olympians nodded at this. Ares frowned, and looked down momentarily. "These men, wouldn't be here if it wasn't for me. You've all pushed them to the brink of death, no to suicide! These are your sons, your heroes, and you threw them away and forgot about them! Now you want nothing but forgiveness, but you know what? These boys have trained in the Pit itself and want nothing to do with you lot." Ares leaned back in his seat and rubbed his temples. "Angels dismissed. Proceed with mission." His voice was flat.

The Angels all saluted the god of war before marching out of the throne room silently, their synchronized footsteps causing the noise to be much louder.

Once they were gone, the Olympians all looked down ashamed. They knew deep down that Ares was telling the truth. No one dared to oppose him, especially after finding out that he had four heroes to defend and back him up- in battle and in debates.

The silence was horrible. Ares sat in his throne fuming while most of the Olympians looked like they were ready to curl up into a ball. The truth hurts the most, especially when you've known it all along. Finally, Poseidon looked up. "D-do they even, um," He sniffed. "Recognize us a-at all?" Some of the Olympians winced at his tone of voice, which was completely empty. Devoid of any emotion at all.

Ares sighed. "That's for them to say Poseidon." Said god looked down sadly, and a few tears fell to the ground as he started to shake with sadness. Suddenly, he started to become water. Before anyone could say anything, he evaporated into a small mist and teleported out of the throne room. Zeus looked angry for a moment that Poseidon had left, but then slouched slightly. He felt sorry for his brother, he was obviously hurting a lot. He didn't completely understand his older brothers pain, for his son was the spitting image of what he's always wanted in a son. He may be cold, and always threaten to kill the young heroes at meetings, but deep deep down, he knew that he needed them.

。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。

The Angels walked out of the throne room angrily. Once the door closed behind them, they all disappeared into the shadows around them.

They suddenly appeared in Ares temple and immediately started to unleash their anger around them. The four of them took out their weapons at the same time, and advanced on each other dangerously.

They all stared at one another, their eyes flicking between the four of them. Suddenly, Luke threw a grenade in the middle of them. Nico quickly shot it as it hit the ground, and then started to focus his fire on Octavian, who had started to get out his gun.

Percy took out Riptide and charged at Luke, who used a shot gun to block the blow. He grinned cheekily at the green eyed demigod, before dropping the gun and whipping out a dagger.

This was their routine. When they would get angry, they would all travel to the temple and unleash their anger on each other. They learned to not hurt each other, and how to control their strength a long time ago. The years they spent training truly had an effect on all of them.

Nico would usually go full out at the beginning, and quickly lose all his strength by using his powers, but now he knew how to conserve his strength for the entire fight and not drain himself. Octavian used to try and use words as weapons, which caused him to not be the best with weapons themselves, but training taught him how to be the best of the best. Luke was already an ace at fighting with swords. Key words 'swords'. First time he picked up a gun, he almost killed himself and everyone else in the room. But after lots and lots of practise, you might've mistaken him for the god of guns.

Now Percy.

He was amazing except for the fact that he let his feeling control him. He would get attached, and that risked the lives of many people. Ares made him realize this. This is the reason he hardly shows any emotion to anyone except the Angels.

The four boys have all changed so much it's scary. They're not the same young and naive teens they were five years ago. Now, when you look at them, you see four trained and powerful soldiers. A four man army so to speak.

Would any of them choose to turn back time and go back to their normal lives?

Would any of them choose to abandon the soldier life?

Would any of them forgive what the Olympians and demigods have done to them?

Never.
