The Sound Ninjas
I don't own Naruto, only my OC's.
When I opened my eyes I felt like I had been sleeping for ages. I was in a tent. My breathing was regular, I felt no pain. Everything was in order which was weird considering what happened before I had passed out.
I sat up. No one was around but I could hear a commotion going on outside. There were two beds beside me and Sasuke and Naruto was lying in them. I frowned. What happened to Sasuke? I reached over to touch him but a scream sounded from outside.
"Sakura!" I whispered. She sounded like she was in trouble. I had to go help her!
I tried getting up but fell to my feet immediately. What the hell? Why couldn't I stand up? I tried getting up again but I fell right back down. I was too weak to even move. The commotion outside got louder and I gritted my teeth.
No matter if Sakura had been treating me coldly lately. She was my teammate and she was my friend. I had to help her. I reached out before me and dragged myself forward. I kept doing that until, finally, I reached the flap of the tent.
What I saw outside was shocking. It was those three sound ninjas again. Not only them, but Lee was there too. What was going on?
One of the sound ninjas was trying his best to shake Sakura off, who was biting unto his arm. When did her hair get so short? He finally succeeded and she flew off him hitting the ground with a thud.
"Sakura!" I screamed. She looked in awful condition. Blood was pouring down her face and down her arms. I dragged myself from the flap, trying to get over to her. I knew I was leaving Machaera behind but I had to check if she was okay.
I had barely reached two drags away from the tent before I was jerked upwards by my hair. "Ahh!" I screamed. It was the girl. She was leering down at me and I could barely find the strength to fight. "Let go of me!" I screamed at her.
"Shut up!" she screamed back at me, jerking my hair. "Is she one of yours?! She's one of yours, isn't she?"
"Lea!" Lee shouted. "Hold on, I'll save you!" He struggled to his feet.
"No Lee! Stay right where you are!" He was in too much pain. If he came to my 'rescue' he would only be captured too. He looked safe over there where everyone was ignoring him. The girl put a kunai to my throat.
"Shut up!" she said jerking my head again. "You and all your friends are going to die right here! Right no-!" She froze and I frowned.
"I can't have you showing me up, you know Sakura!" It was Ino and the others. I sighed in relief. I was never so glad to see the trio in my life. The woman holding me let me go immediately. I fell to the ground but I still couldn't move.
"Am I glad to see you too, Ino-pig," Sakura said with a grin.
Ino grinned at her, and nodded at Shikamaru who was doing that thing with his hands like he did the first time I saw him.
"Take care of my body Shikamaru," Ino said with a wink. "Mind Body Switch!"
Ino's body fell and the girl behind me moved. "Everything's over now," the girl said. My eyes widened and I tried getting away before she grabbed at me again.
"It's okay, Lea," the girl said sounding mocking. "It's me, Ino." She grinned at me and I smiled. Oh...
The hunch and the other one didn't seemed fazed. The hunch stepped up and turned the weird thing on his arm. A gust of wind shot out at me and the girl. We flew up into the air, and I cried out in pain. They were attacking their own teammate? We landed hard on the ground.
"Ino!" I heard the fat one – what's his name again? – say. Ino's body was still limp, but a line of blood was running down her mouth. I didn't look any better. My body had broken into a dozen large stinging cuts that were oozing blood.
"Heh," the hunch said. "You guys are mistaken. Our goals aren't to get the scrolls. It's Sasuke-kun."
I frowned. What do they want with Sasuke?
"Damn it, the jutsu's wearing off," I heard Shikamaru say.
"It's a five minute jutsu," the other sound said. "And from the looks of it, those two girls would be dying from internal bleeding." I coughed up blood, as if on cue to his words. He smirked at me. His mouth opened to say something else but was cut off when someone else's voice sounded from above.
"You low life sounds picking on second rate ninja and calling victory?" Neji said. I smiled at his entrance.
"Lee, are you okay?" Tenten asked, checking on him. Lee nodded smirking at his two teammates.
"Looks like you guys are right in time," he said. I couldn't agree more.
"This guy is from our team," Neji said sounding cold. "And you're going to pay!" The skin around his eyes grew crinkly. "If you're going any further, I'm going all out."
"If you don't like it," the hunch said. "Then stop acting so cool and come down here."
"No," Neji said smiling. "That won't be necessary."
At that moment I noticed that Sasuke was up and he was standing over me. I looked up at him, barely able to move my head, both from the pain and from my lack of strength.
"Sasuke," I said and everyone turned to me. "You're awake." There was a weird dark mark swirling around his eye coming down his arm. I looked him up and down and frowned. "Why do you look like that?"
"Who ... did this to you?" he asked. His hair was blocking his face but his voice sounded like he was barely holding back his anger. "Who did this to you, Lea?!" he asked more loudly.
"We did!" the other sound nin spoke up, sounding confident. How could he be, after hearing how scary Sasuke sounded?
Sasuke turned to him, almost in slow motion. "Don't worry. I feel power overflowing from within me. I feel great." He lifted his hand. "He gave it to me. I finally understand it. I am an avenger. Even if I must eat the devil's fruit. I am on a path where I must gain power."
I blinked. "Sasuke ... What are you talking about?"
His hand formed a fist. "Now, it was you guys was it?"
"Ino!" Shikamaru shouted. "Get back into your body! Now!"
The other guy (I don't even know his name) smirked, overflowing with confidence. "Ultimate Zankuuha!"
A blast shot from his hands and exploded around us. I felt myself being picked up and before I could even blink I was being placed on the ground behind the blast.
When it ended the sound nin said, "Heh blown him away, did I?"
"Not too sure about that," Sasuke said, and he knocked the guy in his back. The guy went flying.
"Mystical Fire Flower!" Sasuke took a deep breath and released a bout of fire. The guy countered it with his own blast.
"What?" the guy exclaimed. Flaming shurikens flew into him. He had no time to react though because there Sasuke was behind him and soon had the guy's arm held awkwardly behind him. Sasuke's chakra was one a whole other level.
"Don't you ever hurt her again," he said to the sound nin. Then he pulled his arm back and it broke with a sickening snap.
"Who's next?" Sasuke asked, turning around and the way he looked made me scared. I struggled to my feet. He was walking right by me and I grabbed his hand.
"Sasuke, stop. Stop this."
"They hurt you. They hurt Sakura. They almost hurt Naruto."
"And are you trying to be just like them?" I used his hand as leverage to face him. "Sasuke, we're the good guys. The good guys handle this the good guy way."
"They hurt you," he said again.
"So are you." Which he was. He was squeezing down so hard on my hand I was biting my bottom lip from crying out. He let go immediately. Slowly the black marks ran up his arm and they disappeared at his neck.
He fell to the ground and I fell along with him. He and I were panting hard. Standing had taken a lot out of me.
"You are strong," the hunch said. He was holding unto his teammate. He took an earth scroll from his pouch and placed it on the ground. When did they get that? "Here, take this as a gift. Please let us leave. We need to figure something out." I frowned. What a weird way to leave a battle.
"Now, if you'll excuse us." He turned to leave but Sakura stopped him.
"Wait! Who's Orochimaru?! What did he do to Sasuke?!"
"I don't know. We were just ordered to kill him, that's all we know."
I looked at Sasuke. There was something weird on his neck and I wondered if that was where that weird chakra came from. I sighed, now that it was all over I felt even more tired. I laid down on the ground. I wonder if I could sleep right here. I closed my eyes intending on doing just that.
Naruto POV
I awoke with a jolt. What was happening?
"Hey why are you guys here?" I asked Shikamaru and Choji who was standing over me. "What happened?"
"Oh man, explaining to you is such a drag," Shikamaru said and my eye twitched. That guy was as lazy as they came.
I looked around. Everyone was here. Well except Kiba, the Hina girl and the one with glasses. I saw Sakura first.
"Sakura," I exclaimed, rushing to her. "What did you do to your hair?" I asked, eyes wide.
"Oh nothing much," she said patting it. "A girl needs some change in her life, don't ya think?" I grinned at her, loving the new look.
"You look really pretty Sakura-chan," I complimented her. She blushed and looked away.
"Well, thanks," she said smiling. I smiled back. I wasn't used to seeing Sakura smile at me.
"Where's Lea-chan? And Sasuke?" I looked around. I spotted them a little away. I ran over to them. Lea was ... sleeping? Sasuke looked worse for wear. I was just about to ask what happened when I say Bushy Brows.
"Hey, Bushy Brows!" I raised my hand in greeting.
"Don't call him that!" Sakura shouted at me. I cringed.
"Why not?"
She ignored me, turning to Bushy Brows and I felt a flash of jealousy. "Thank you Lee," she said. "Thanks for saving us."
"Saving?" I said, popping up between them. "Who saved who? Saved? Why?"
"The next time we meet I'll be stronger," Lee said and I rolled my eyes. Such a suck up.

Lea POV
Okay, I have to admit. I loved sleeping. Once I'm asleep I will try my hardest not to wake up, no matter how much noise was surrounding me.
I groaned and reluctantly opened my eyes. I was on someone's back. I lifted my head. It was Naruto but that wasn't it. Kabuto was with us and we were surrounded by a lot of clones. Weird looking clones too.
I groaned again, louder this time. Why couldn't the fighting just stop? I know that was the only reason I had wanted to do the second test so bad but jeesh, this was just overdoing it.
"Hey Lea-chan, you're awake," Naruto said, alerting the others.
"Yeah," I said. "Let me down." He put me to my feet and I immediately grab hold of my sword. "I am sick and tired of all this fighting," I said.
"Well get used to it," Kabuto said. "You'll be doing a lot of that in the future of this exams."
I sighed, expecting it. I pushed my sword out. "Let's just get this over with."
Naruto grinned and we both moved in. I cut through one of clones. "One down." I was headed for another when the one I had just cut down started to grow back.
"What the-" I looked over to see that the clone Naruto had punched through had started growing back too.
I frowned. Why can't this be over?
"I'll see through this," Sasuke said. His eyes transformed.
"Sasuke, look out!" Sakura warned. Shurikens shot after him but he didn't move. Kabuto pinned him to the ground, the shurikens grazing his arm. I hadn't even stopped to wonder what Kabuto was doing here.
I lowered my sword. Something was wrong here but I was too lazy to figure it out. I'll just let them do all the figuring out and I'll just get rid of the clones after they did.
"Don't attack!" Sasuke said. "It's an illusion. The enemy's genjutsu."
"But Kabuto's injury is real," Sakura said.
"No, Sasuke's right," Kabuto said. "The real one is somewhere matching the attacks with the fake ones."
"Then let's find the real ones and kick their asses!" Naruto suggested.
I rolled my eyes and grinned. I knew I said I wasn't going to say anything but...
"That's exactly what they want us to do, Naruto," I said. "They won't come out until we're practically dead."
"Then all we can do is dodge," Sakura said. I nodded and they took out their kunai. I raise my sword.
Kunai rained down on us like a shower and we dodged and blocked. It went on for ages.
"This is taking forever!" I shouted as I ducked under a kunai.
"Let's just get rid of them all at once! Shadow Clone Jutsu!" About a hundred Narutos appeared. They attack the clones but more clones appeared.
"Shadow Clone Jutsu!" I added about a hundred of my clones to the lot. We attacked the clones and finally they were done.
I stooped to my knee, panting hard, and high fived Naruto. He grinned at me and fell to the ground, just as tired. Everyone was panting.
Then out of nowhere, three guys appeared. Looks like they were the real ones.
"We meet again," the one in the middle said.
I raised a brow. We met before?
"It's getting late. Time for you to pay for my arm."
"You guys are trapped," Sasuke said from behind them. The ones the enemies were facing were transformed into Narutos. I grinned. It worked perfectly.
Sasuke, Sakura and Kabuto were behind the enemies. My clones and Naruto's clones were just a diversion so that the real ones could get away. I had remained behind the Naruto clones, only to see the faces of our enemies when they found out they had been tricked. Pretty funny if you ask me.
I drew my sword, releasing chakra in my feet to increase my speed. I appeared behind them and knocked the one to left hard with my fist. He went flying into his teammates. They tumbled like dominoes.
"Stop trying to steal the show, Sasuke," I said with a grin.
"Damn it! I won't let you beat me again!" The guy raised his hands to his mouth. I didn't hear what he said, but so many clones appeared behind him I had lost count.
I did my own hand signs. "Fire Style: Blaze Boom!" I slapped my hands together and a blast of fire shot out from the ground. All his clones disappeared.
"Wow, Lea-chan! That was so cool!" I shrugged. It was pretty cool, I guess.
The enemy was out. I went up to him, searching his pockets. I came out with a heaven scroll. "Let's go, guys."
//
We weren't too far from the tower. Apparently, we were only a few minutes away from being late and failing the second test. Naruto was walking with his hands behind his head, grinning from ear to ear. Sasuke and Sakura were walking ahead of me.
I lingered back, going over everything that had happened these past few days. Granted, I had been asleep for half of it but so many things had happened. At first I had been excited to start this fighting (although not the surviving thing) but it had hardly begun before we had ran into trouble.
First of all, what had happened to me with that Orochimaru dude? When he had done that to Naruto all I had seen was red. I had been super strong and super-fast. Even my hair had changed colour. And my eyes ... what the hell had been up with my eyes?
And then after I had passed out and woken up I could barely move. I went from a hundred to zero real quick.
And what had happened to Sasuke? He had went berserk. If I hadn't stopped him I don't know what how things would have went down.
I shook my head. Everything was so weird.
We reached the tower. Kabuto had met up with his teammates and they went off by themselves. We entered and I remained behind, leaning against the door frame.
"Look at that," Sakura said pointing. It was a board with words them.
"Looks like we have to open the scrolls," Sasuke said. I took out the heaven scroll and threw it to him. Naruto took out the earth scroll. They opened it slowly.
"It's a summoning scroll!" They released the scroll and a guy with brown hair appeared.
"Iruka-sensei!" Naruto exclaimed.
"Hey," Iruka said.
"Why are you here?" Sakura asked.
"They wanted the chunins to meet those who passed. And I was allowed to greet you guys."
"Does that mean we pass?" I asked. Iruka turned and blinked at me.
"Oh hello? You must be Lea. I heard a lot about you."
I sent him a fake smile. "Is that right?" I asked, cocking my head to the side. "Am I that interesting that you guys talk about me?"
"As a matter of fact, you are. You have no idea."
"I'm not sure that's answering my question though. Did we pass or not?"
Iruka grinned. "That's right. You guys passed."
I smiled and Naruto jumped up in the air in glee. "We made it!"
