Chapter 4
Chapter 4
Andrew
I watched her fall asleep. The peaceful look on her face revealed a lot more than she'd ever know. She trusted me. Skylar barely knew me, and she trusted me. The elements I possess must really get to her. She must have felt so alone, thinking she was the only one with abnormal powers. But she was so old compared to the other newbies brought into the academy. Skylar just happened to wander on top of the cave they were in now. No one ever just came upon it; that was supposed to be impossible. So General must've really wanted her here now, but why? What could he possibly want me to do?
That question was answered soon enough. I heard a knock at my door. A knock that could only mean trouble. Only General and his guards knew it, and where I lived for that matter.
I left Skylar sleeping to see who was there. I entered the hallway, where we always met, then sat down to wait. While I was waiting, I thought about what General wanted. He and Skylar showing up the same day just seems too likely of a coincidence.
"Well you did show up Andrew. How thoughtful."
I turned to see General standing in the dark doorway. That man always gave me the creeps. "What do you want General? You never come this late."
He smiled, that evil smile that gave people chills, the one that told you "Do what I say or die." "Well Andrew! Polite as always of course. If you want to 'get down to business' as they say, then let's." He walked over and sat down so close, I could feel his breath on my face. "I see you've met Skylar. Charming girl really. Pity she tried to run off." Noticing the look on my face he said, "Now you don't really think that I didn't know she was here did you? Never underestimate the enemy! That's the biggest flaw of your dear old dad isn't it though? Maybe that's where you get it from. Oh but I'm not here to talk about that, oh no." He sharpened his gaze on me.
"Dear old Andrew;----- I have a proposition for you."
