Daryl | We're just the same

You were always pretty close to Daryl after the farm. You saw how lonely he became and you felt compelled to speak to him. When you had all invaded Woodbury, Daryl and his brother, Merle had gone off, you joined - Much to Merle's dismay.

Merle wasn't much of a people person and he didn't like how you had invaded his small family. You couldn't say you cared much for Merle either but none the less you still agreed to follow Daryl.

A few hours before Daryl had dragged you back to the prison, he and Merle had a fight.

Merle grabbed onto Daryl's shirt, ripping it and exposing scars scattered along his back. You weren't surprised. Your mother used to abuse you and your older brother. You learnt to spot the signs when you moved away to become a social worker for kids affected by the same things. Your brother said it was stupid and pointless but he was heartless.

You couldn't say you blamed him after what he'd been through but you didn't understand how he could be so cold to people in similar situations. Still, he was.

When you arrived back at the prison, you tried not to push Daryl too much, you understood that he needed space. Especially with everyone just waiting to put a knife in Merle's back.

Walking down the corridor towards Daryl's cell, you heard two voices. "You soft on her?" Merle's voice smirked.

"I ain't soft on no one" Daryl grumbled.

Merle snickered. "Course not, course not"

"Man, shut up and get out" Daryl snapped.

You appeared in the door way. Merle's smirk covered his entire face as you smiled at Daryl. Merle started walking out but paused to whisper in his ear, "Go gentle on him, ain't no woman ever loved him" He cackled before he left.

Looking down, Daryl stayed sat where he was. "Ignore him" He muttered.

"He's like my brother," You rolled your eyes.

Daryl's face uncovered a small smile as you sat beside him. "You know, we're just the same.." You said quietly.

He raised his brow, "We ain't the same"

"We are, but alright" You shrugged. "Broken life, shitty brother, shitty parents. Oddly similar" You smiled slightly as he stared at the ground.

You placed your hand on his knee to which he tensed up slightly. He glanced at your hand on his knee before he sighed. "I ain't someone you wanna be with" He said in a whisper.

"Neither am I, that's why we're perfect..." You whispered back.

He shook his head, attempting to stand up but you grabbed his wrist and pulled him back down next to you. "Daryl...don't run" You muttered as you slowly leaned closer to him.

"I can't help it.." He whispered with a pained expression.

"Do you trust me?" You whispered. He nodded and so you slowly leaned in closer and closer to his face until your lips collided gently.

It took a second but slowly Daryl started kissing back. You moved your hand from his wrist to his chest where it rested. Daryl slowly moved his hands to your waist, he was unsure but you allowed him to keep his hands there.

You pulled away and smiled. He smiled back and you both chuckled. "Not bad, Dixon" You smirked as you stood up and walked away.

He shook his head and smiled as he watched you walk away.
