Michonne- Strength (c)
You never thought that you would see an apocalypse occur, but you certainly didn't think that you would end up living through one and still trying to survive years after the first zombie outbreak. Nothing felt right, no matter what you did, it didn't feel like enough. You were lucky to be young enough and healthy when the apocalypse started and were able to fight, to do everything you could to keep those you loved safe but no matter what you did, it never felt like there was enough. No matter how many zombies you killed there would be more and now people were making their own factions and fighting each other when the dead were meant to be the real enemy.
How were you meant to stay sane throughout it all?
Michonne was one of your closest friends in Alexandria, you tried not to show weakness but if you were to tell anyone about your uncertainties, it was her. She was a far more skilled fighter and always seemed to be self-assured, if only you could be more like her.
"What's wrong?" She asked, sitting down next to you on the steps leading up to your house.
You shrugged your shoulders but with a stern cocked eyebrow from your best friend, you knew that you needed to tell her the truth.
"I just don't know how I am meant to feel optimistic in a time like this. We fight every day to survive but there is always something else, someone else that wants us dead. I don't know how to keep my chin up when I know I'm going to lose everyone I love and not once they have lived a long and fulfilling life."
Michonne gently slapped your back, rubbing her hand there for a moment as though to reassure you.
"You're strong. You've always been."
You frowned at her. "I don't feel strong."
"Doubt doesn't mean you lack strength, it just means you need to think about why you have it and the importance of it," she explained. "There are a lot of bad things in this world, but you can always bring the good back into it."
Although you still couldn't see much good in the world, you understood what she meant, and you did just need to take a minute and think about everything that you did for those you cared about.
"Thanks," you said. "I needed that."
"Anytime."
