Maggie Greene- Zombies (c)
Since the outbreak of zombies you had been living on the Greene farm due to the fact that it was the home of you girlfriend. It wasn't the safest place, but tonight was the first time no zombies had been around since the outbreak had begun.
Hershel wasn't pleased by the fact that you were both outside at night due to the possible danger surrounding you. However with the amount of people living in such a small proximity to each other, this was the only place that you and Maggie could get some alone time.
Just sitting on the dimly lit porch wrapped in each other's arms was a pleasant moment. It reminded of the normality of your lives prior to the breakdown of humanity. You were both doing your best to embrace what was occur but there wasn't much you could do but accept what was happening around you.
Hershel's attitudes to what was occurring differed strongly from your opinion but you weren't prepared to argue due to the fact that he was allowing you to stay in his home and could easily force you to fend for yourself out there.
You lightly rubbed Maggie's blanket covered arm as the brisk wind bit at any exposed skin of you both. Although it was getting cold, you were simply happy to just be there with Maggie and have a moment to yourself.
Above you the stars shone in the sky. Seen as the farm was situated at a distance from the nearest large town or city, it was actually possible for the sky to be seen in all of its intricate beauty.
"There's something quite nice about tonight," Maggie whispered resting her head onto your shoulder.
"Yeah, the zombies aren't around," you laughed.
It was a nice change to not have such a danger surrounding you. It wasn't as though you were ignorant to the fact that they were still out there, but currently out of sight was out of mind. You knew the dangers of this world, but if you constantly thought about it, nothing good would come from dwelling on the problem, it'd just cause more problems.
"It actually feels like the world is normal. That the sickness never existed," she muttered weakly.
"Hopefully there will be a cure," you said softly pressing your lips to Maggie's hair.
You didn't believe that there was a cure, and it seemed impossible that there ever could be, but Maggie had lost so many people to the illness and it gave her hope that they could come back. You would do anything to help her, even if it seemed impossible to you.
She didn't say anything more, just snuggled closer to you, holding you as close as possible. That's how you stayed until Hershel came outside to call both of you in, like the children Hershel saw you as, but you understood why, seen as it was dangerous outside.
