Twice Shy Pt. 2

"We can handle a Cullen," Aro said with a chuckle.
Sienna rolled her eyes. "It's your funeral," she muttered, "Don't say I didn't warn you."
Sienna turned to her mate who kept his attention trained on the door as if waiting for it to burst open. She didn't like using that word, mate, seeing how it held so much power in the immortal world. They were more friends than lovers, taking their time to get to know one and other before rushing into something serious that could hurt either of them. If Sienna had to introduce Demetri to anyone, much to Demetri's, and even Aro's dismay, she would only call him her friend.
Unlike Sienna, Demetri embraced calling Sienna his mate, his better half in some instances. There wasn't a moment when he wasn't singing her praises or showering her with gifts to express his love and devotion. Sienna tolerated it, a lot better than Demetri would have if he was in her shoes. He asked her about it once before as they relaxed in a hammock together in the garden. "Because you've waited a long time for me so I can handle some sappiness from you," was all she replied before nuzzling into his side more and taking a nap. So he continued with his worship of her and she would grin and bear it to make him smile.
"Master," Demetri began, "perhaps you should heed Sienna's warn-"
"-Nonsense!" Caius shouted, "We are the Volturi! We instill fear, not feel it!"
Sienna once again rolled her eyes and began walking to the door. If they would not listen to reason then she wouldn't interfere a moment longer. She wouldn't be held liable if any of the kings or guards getting hurt.
A thunderous smack to the doors and the muffled screams of terror from the receptionist on the other side of the doors was enough to make Sienna stop in her tracks. She felt a gust of air and felt a familiar hand around her waist. "Stay behind me," Demetri hissed, pushing his mate behind him as the doors begun to give under the weight of the attack.
Guards moved around the room, encircling the masters thrones and with them Sienna as well. Jane was by the humans side, her eyes never straying from the doors.
The doors crumpled under the last shove of whoever was trying to break in, revealing who Sienna had feared coming to the castle. There in all her rage, in all her fury, with eyes as black as coal and hatred making her beautiful features ones of nightmares stood the one and only.
Rosalie Hale.
Behind Rosalie was her equally enraged husband, his hand around the mouth of the wide eyed and equally terrified receptionist.
"Where. Is. She." Rosalie asked, stepping into the room, her eyes trained on Aro and only Aro.
Aro gave a half-hearted smile. "Who are we discussing?" he questioned, playing coy.
Rosalie let go of a growl she was no longer able to hold back just as the nearest guard launched at her. She dodged his reaching hands only to grab his head and give a quick yank severing it from his body. In another swift move, she had tossed it at the other guard closest to her with enough force to send him flying back into the wall. Emmett had relinquished his hold on the mortal woman moving into the room, sending guards flying or tearing them the pieces.
Aro watched in horror as his guards were made a mockery of by two vegetarian vampires no less. Caius was equally appalled at the ongoing carnage meanwhile Marcus watched on like he was one step away from pulling out a bowl of popcorn.
Rosalie had made it through the room only to have Demetri get in her way. She swiped at him only for him to dodge it. Sienna let out a gasp earning her mothers attention. Rosalie's eyes turned gold for a brief moment only to turn black once more when Demetri stepped back into her field of view.
"Give me back my daughter," Rosalie growled.
Demetri shook his head. "I'm afraid I can't do that."
Rosalie let out a war cry and launched at the tracker just as her husband did the same. Almost immediately Sienna knew what both of her normally loving parents planned. If they killed Demetri, they could easily take her and go, no one would ever be able to find them. The thought of Demetri's death bothered her, something about him not being by her side didn't sit well either. She blamed the mate bond. So, with one of the dumbest ideas in mind and hope in her heart, Sienna threw herself in front of Demetri and both of her parents collied into her.
She cried out at the impact and cried out once more as her mom brought a fist up to collied with her opponents skull. Rosalie stopped short of hitting her daughter, her eyes returning back to their normal gold.
"Sienna?" she asked, her voice and face not even masking the horror of what she just did to her only child.
Sienna was in tears, her fear, pain, and anger giving her no other choice than to cry. "Don't hurt him," she begged, "please don't."
Emmett was pulling Rosalie off their daughter when he asked, "Who?"
"Demetri," Sienna sobbed trying to her best to get up but couldn't without sending a wave of pain through her body.
Demetri was by her side, trying to soothe her the best he could while pleading with her to stop moving. Sienna latched onto the tracker, holding him as she sobbed and apologized for her stupidity.
Rosalie watched in horror at their interaction. "No," the mother breathed, "it can't be."
Emmett had gone completely still, his eyes trained on his daughter.
"I'm-"
"-Shh, it's ok Babygirl," Demetri whispered, "You did nothing wrong."
Sienna's cries dulled considerably as Demetri pulled out his phone to call for an ambulance. He was quite sure Sienna had suffered some broken bones. He held the phone up to his ear while his other hand stroked Sienna's hair.
"You're her mate."
Demetri looked over at Rosalie. In normal circumstances Demetri would've flirted, possibly even tried to get in Rosalie's pants for the evening, but things were different. He was a mated man and when compared to Sienna, Rosalie was nothing more than just another pretty face in the crowd.
"I am," he confirmed before turning his attention back to his phone call, "Si, ho bisogno di un'ambulanza."
"How dare you?!" Rosalie roared before lunging at Demetri once more.
Emmett was quick, grabbing his wife and trapping her in his strong arms. "Stop!" he yelled to be heard over his wife's threats, "We can't do anything to him without hurting her!"
"He doesn't deserve her!" Rosalie yelled in retaliation.
"And? I'm undeserving of you!" Emmett yelled back.
It was at this Rosalie stopped trying to break free of her husbands grip. Emmett set her down so Rosalie could look at him. "Em-"
Emmett held up a hand, effectively silencing his wife. "-I was no better than Demetri and you know that." He argued, "I spent my nights drinking, chasing women, and even spending money on whores. I did nothing in my life worthy enough to get someone as amazing as you Rose. Half the time I don't know how I managed to get you, keep you, or even raise our daughter with you."
Rosalie remained quiet so Emmett took that as a sign to keep talking. "We may not like him, or his past, or even what he does but to reject him is for us to lose Sienna, and if I'm being honest, I'd rather lose the Jeep or Edward before we lost her."
Rosalie looked around her at the destruction she had caused before she looked at her daughter. Shame washed over her making her avert her eyes back to the ground. Never in a million years did she ever want to hurt her baby but she did, and if she tried to get rid of Demetri she knew her daughter would chose him. Mates weren't to be separated, that was a given fact, and for her to take Sienna back to America, back to Forks, would only cause pain and suffering. Rose, foolishly, hoped that eternity would always consist of her, Emmett, and their daughter. Just the three of them, but it seemed like fate had other plans.
So, with tears in her eyes, Rosalie finally looked at Demetri once more, without anger or hatred. Her voice broke as she spoke. "Take care of my daughter," she ordered and Demetri nodded.
With a heavy heart, Rosalie knelt down, giving her daughter a kiss to her forehead and apologizing, and Emmett followed suit. Together, they left but not without one final look to their daughter.
"Tell me she'll be ok," Rosalie ordered once they were out of earshot.
Emmett chuckled and threw an arm around his wife's shoulders. "She'll be more than ok."
