Chapter 1 Gone.

FRMET ITUIM LEYIF? I was stumped, why can't I read? I need to do this writing competition or I'll be expelled! I was dyslexic and I'll always be the dumb kid. The principal of Amber Valley Academy didn't get me. I just couldn't read! The words swirled around me, they jumbled. I would never be like my amazing twin sister, Ariana.

"Miss Redek please come to the principal's office."

I grumbled, didn't they get that I couldn't do ANYTHING? All my life I wanted to be like my smart twin sister. I wanted to write stories with her.

"Click-Clack." My shoes were loud in the ever silent hallways. I walked in and saw Mr. Blay staring right at me= uh oh.

"Miss Redek, you have been skipping tests, "forgetting" homework, and running out of the classroom when it is your turn to read. Your grades are the lowest in the WHOLE school."

"Ms―Sir I can't read the words, they jumble up around me." I pleaded.

"Okay well, in that case, you, Layna Adene Redek, are expelled." My heart skipped a beat. I went silent.

That day I was sent home. Mom and Dad handled it well. They understood me. The next day Ari went to school and I stayed home. I wanted to have some fun, so I geared up and set foot into the snowiest Toronto blizzard in the world.

"Bump, CLANG, Boom!"

Ouch, I screamed in my head. I looked down at what I bumped into and saw a humongous red toboggan. Instantly I eased. The sled was beautiful, almost magical. The scarlet paint was glossy, it looked new! It was the size that surprised me the most, it was the length of the school doors! It was also wooden with gentle curves at the end.

"I NEED to go on this." I mumbled.

After a million-thousand years, I finally dragged the sled up the giant hill at the park.

"WHOOSH!" I went down, and the sled got hot! I tumbled to the ground, feeling the crusty snow on my neck.

"Brrr." I shivered but I was determined. I went again and again, once more, over again.

"Ju-ust on-ne m-more tim-e." My hands were purple, and my face was turning blue. The last time. I crawled on top and slid. I was desperate.

"BOOM!" I flew in the air, right into the thorny bushes. Scratches covered me. I felt so sick.

"Moom, Dad help." Afterward, someone picked me up. I lost consciousness.

"Hi, sweetie." I was dizzy and nauseous and... Everything bad you could think of. My back hurt. I was so tired. There were scrapes from that dreadful, stupid bush. "What happened?" I half groaned and half asked.

"Let's not talk about that," Dad said. They both sounded exhausted. My limbs didn't feel right. I looked at my leg and was shocked to see a dull grey cast on my thigh.

"What?" I asked.

"It'll take a bit to heal," Mom quietly murmered.

"Where's Ari?" I questioned. They took a long time to answer.

"S-she i-s g-gone."
