Baka!
Dedicated to the awesome Ms. Chiteshvarayan AKA Yashie for being my virtual bestie (yes we have coined that term :P) , I would love to know your views about V. So, read soon! ;)
"It was just a prank." Vir repeated for the thousandth time.
" This is just prank for you! Do you seriously want your friend to die of a heart attack so young!" I snapped at him also for the thousandth time.
Vir ran an irritated hand through his hair and sighed," I swear I won't do it ever again."
"Yes, not if we have to watch you turn into a younger version of Vir's mom. God! your lectures are as scary as hers." Dave added.
I turned to glare at him, he shivered.
" White flag, my Lady. Peace?"
" No," I snapped at him and grabbed hold of my bag.
"Where are you going?" Vir asked, concerned.
"It is none of your business," I hollered as I exited the now-empty classroom.
"Is she really scared of ghosts? I never realized that..." Dave's voice trailed behind nonetheless.
Sighing I blew back my escaping strands of hair. It turns out that the mysterious guy on Dave's terrace was Vir afterall but they thought that it'll be funny to give the whole thing a haunted twists, Baka! Now, another trip to meet the Devil in the library, my Personal Devil.
He was again there- in the very last section with a stack of books kept to his right but he was not reading, instead his eyes were fixed on the fast falling rain outside the window.
"Hey", I waved awkwardly.
" You are on time" he gestured for me to sit opposite to him.
" Had an early start."
He just gave a nonchalant nod and looked at the book in front of him.
"Let us start the next chapter," He said turning to a random page.
So much for a conversation- no "hey, hi, how was your week?, Sorry for glaring at you like you were the bane of my existence". His emotionless mask was back . His words seemed forced even while he explained me a concept, no vivid hand gestures, no fleeting smiles. His was guards were up with maximum security like The Joan of Arc protecting France- in this case it was his secrets, how alluring. A man is so private only if he has something to hide.
" That will be all." He stated and pushed the book back into his bag.
" That was fast. Last time...." I had started to say but he cut me off.
" Did you get the concept?"
"Yes."
"Then the time does not matter." His lips turned down in a disapproving gesture and yet I wanted to talk to him, don't ask me why because I might not be able to answer it myself. Now strike a conversation, no matter how senseless. My eyes landed on the huge stack of books.
" Will you read all of them?" My voice was coloured with disbelief.
" These." his bright blue orbs landed on me and I sucked in a deep breath. The moment just seemed to freeze, so close those turbulent oceans were sucking me in their depth, I was hypnotized. " These are for you." I was weightless, I was floating- wait , what? My boat just wrecked.
" For me?" My voice was shaking.
" Yes, for research work. Read all of these and return them by next week." He turned to leave and added over his shoulder, " remember, I'll quiz you."
Now, I am alone on an inhabitable island. No, he can not desert me.
"But, but... I cannot read all of them", I cried as I ran after him, " I have never ever completed my course book."
He paused and I came to stand next to him, out of breath from running. Boy, he walks fast!
"That is because you never try", I opened my mouth to protest, " Sh! Not a word. You have so much grey matter up there, girl. Just use it once, for goodness sake!"
I looked up at him and pouted, " What good would that do?" He opened his mouth and I hastily added, " Don't even say that I'll get good marks because I get them even without studying through out the year."
He sighed and shifted from one foot to other, " What do you want then?"
I smirked, " If I have these books learnt by heart by next week then you Mr. Ved have to promise to do something for me."
He shrugged as if he could not careless, " Promise."
Whirling around he threw open the oak double doors, revealing a very distressed looking Vir on the other side. Ved casually nodded at him but the tightening in his eyes was very visible, maybe only to me. He walked off.
Vir glanced at his retreating form and back at me, " Care to explain?" I don't like the way he cocks his eyebrow, it reminds me of an interrogating Intelligence Agent.
" Of course, Detective." I fold by arms over my chest and walk over to the college canteen.

" He is your tutor?!" A look of incredulity crossed Vir's features.
"Ahan!" I said as I stuffed my mouth with a burger.
" I was not aware that we had such tuition services at our college."
"Me neither." I tried to say but with my burger-stuffed mouth it sounded more like gibberish.
"Don't eat and speak at the same time." Vir wrinkled his nose, I did not even bother saying sorry now, " So do they pay him for it? They should, I mean, the poor boy wastes his time and brain on you."
I glared at him and continued chewing.
" Gulp down that burger of yours." He snarled.
He looked ready to choke me so I gulped it down quickly and answered, " No he is not. That is what you get for being a teacher's pet- Yes sir, of course sir, It is my pleasure sir", I mimicked Ved's voice and Vir laughed behind his hand.
" I'll make sure that he gets paid for it though. I'll talk to the Vice Chancellor."
"Why are you so worried about his economic profit? He has a father to worry about it." Another huge chunk of the burger went into my mouth.
Vir stared at me with wide eyes, " You don't know that, do you?"
I raised my eyebrows asking- know what?
" He is a scholarship student. He is not in any position to pay his fees. Haven't you noticed that after his old spectacles broke, he does not wear any spectacles? He cannot buy new ones, Kathy!"
I stared at him for a long time. This was touching and I felt an instant pity for that guy. People like me, who have always lived a sheltered life will never know the pain of not knowing an unstable anything. I have an overprotective sister and an Iron-willed mother to take care of me, thank you very much!
I discarded my leftover burger, suddenly not hungry.
When I swung the heavy bag pack on my shoulder, an idea began to form in my head- those books and the promise. I had made this kind of deal with him just for fun but maybe I can do something constructive with it after all.
When we reached the parking lot, Dave's bike was missing next to ours.
"He has gone with Tanya to someplace that I am sure you don't want to know about."
I nodded, he knew me so well.
" Oh! I just remembered- don't tell anything about this tuition arrangement to Dave."
I got hold of a fat leather tome from my bag and flung it at Vir's head." That should have been your first thought, Baka!"
Rubbing the now-forming bruise Vir groaned, " You are watching too much Japanese animes. Ow! That hurts."

Baka- means idiot. Now I don't know Japanese but yes, I am high on those Japanese and Korean Animes! Best ever- Black Butler. Sebas-chan! *mushy-mushy*
A/N:- This chapter is actually very short yet it felt complete and Thanks to all of you who have fallen for V, I love him too :P . So, Next chapter will be up soon! Until then! :)
