The Only Part
Today, I will be narrating an incident that one of my friends had experienced.
It's gonna be a rough ride, so hold on tight.
I'm not gonna reveal her name, so let's just name her, Chloe, okay?
So Chloe used to study with me back in school. We've lost touch these days, but I still vividly remember what she had narrated to me.
She used to live in Mumbai, in India, and as a young kid of around 7 years, all she was invested in were her toys, her coloring books and occasional yelling from her mom.
That's quite common in Indian families, haha.
Her father used to work for the government, and by God's blessings he was doing quite well for himself.
Until one night.
He was returning home from work in his Audi, when suddenly he met with an accident.
He was badly injured, & was paralyzed from top to bottom.
Chloe's life just came to a standstill.
She loved her dad immensely, and seeing him in this condition made her lose all hopes of living her own life.
She told me that she would visit the hospital whenever she could, would practically live there.
You & I both know how difficult it is when something like this happens. Chloe's mom was also devastated.
Now what I'm about to say, is gonna give you goosebumps.
I remember Chloe shivering when she told me this.
She said that one night, she and her mom had decided to stay the night in her dad's hospital room.
She was sleepy as it is, and the moment her head hit the couch, she dosed off.
But then she woke up in the middle of the night.
To see her dad walking around in the room.

Both, happiness & fear gripped her.
Wasn't he paralyzed this morning?
Can he walk now?
She tried moving her limbs, but they wouldn't work.
There's something called sleep paralysis. This happens when you're about to go to sleep, or just waking up. Your body kinda freezes, confused about its state. You can't speak, you can't move.
Maybe she was gripped by that, idk.
She said, that she watched her dad move around the entire room, sit on one of the sofas in the room, pick up an apple and eat it.
She was still not able to move. All that worked were her eyes. Which were now overflowing with tears.
She then watched him move back to his bed & regain his earlier position.
She said she was so scared that she couldn't sleep for the next 60 mins or so.
She woke up the next morning, and immediately last night's memories rushed to her.
Her dad was still paralyzed.
Shocked, she said, she remembered yelling at the staff, and know that, she was 7 years old back then.
She yelled at them, saying that they were lying, and that they were deliberately holding back her (rich) dad to extract money.
But none of that made sense to her paternal Uncle, who by the way, is a doctor himself. He had come over & personally checked Chloe's father & confirmed his paralysis.
Wow.
But, wait! It's not over yet.
The next night Chloe was hell bent on spending the night in the hospital.
She wanted to know whether what she saw was right or not.
And guess what?
The same incident repeated itself that night too.
Now she was sure that her father's paralysis was all a façade. And that they were pranking her for some reason.
But on a closer look, she noticed that something was... off.
That man, he looked older.
Maybe it was just a hyper realistic dream?
But the next morning, her blood turned cold when she heard the news of her grandfather passing away.
When she inquired further, she got to know that her grandfather had passed away exactly an hour before her dad had met with an accident.
So that person, hovering around in the room, had been her grandfather?
Even three years back, when I had last spoken to her, she told me that even now she sees dreams of her grandfather. Weird ones.
(Her grandfather had never really liked her father. They had had a strenuous relationship.)
PS- Her father's health has improved a lot since then.
