The Boat Ride

Black, bubbling liquid crashed around her. "Mr. Scamander!" Tina cried, standing on the cold metal chair. "Don't panic!" Newt said. "What do you suggest I do instead?" Tina demanded. Newt hissed at the swooping evil, causing it to begin to circle her. "Jump," he replied. "Are you insane?!" Tina said, her voice filled with anxiety. "Tina, I'll catch you," Newt said, his voice trembling slightly. "Go!" he shouted, but she couldn't. She didn't trust him. The black liquid engulfs her, causing her to scream at the top of her lungs.

Tina awoke with a jolt. She took several deep breaths to calm herself down. It had been months, but every night, she dreamed of the Death Chamber. Tears began to fall, but she quickly wiped them away before getting dressed. She didn't want anyone to worry about her.

Breakfast was amazing, which made it easier to push the nightmare away from her thoughts. Instead, she focused on Newt's hands, studying every detail. His fingers were calloused, with short fingernails that were slightly dirty. She could tell just by his hands that he was a caring, loving person who dedicated his life to serving others. She found a strange comfort in this.

"Newt, tell me about your family," Tina said, shoving some toast in her mouth. "I have a mother, a father, an older brother, and a younger sister. Mum breeds fancy hippogriffs. Dad is a doctor. Theseus, my older brother, is an Auror, and Caoimhe, my younger sister, wants to be a teacher." Newt replied. He pulled out an old beaten photograph from his pocket. Newt's family smiled up at Tina. Newt's father was tall and broad, his hair a deep brown, his eyes gray. Newt's mother was beautiful. Large red curls tumbled down her back, each hair in it's perfect place. Her eyes were an emerald green eyes that seemed to be filled with stars. Theseus was almost identical to Newt, but his cheekbones didn't jut out as much and he had a beard. Caoimhe looked small compared to her muscular brother. Her hair was a dirty blonde, flowing down her back, her eyes a crystal blue.

"They're beautiful," Tina said softly. Newt replied with a shy smile that still managed to make her dizzy. "Got all your things packed?" "Yes," Tina replied. "We need to go then," Newt said. After a brief goodby to Queenie, they got their suitcases and left.

They finally boarded the boat, which left after an hour or two. Tina recalled the faces of Newt's family, wondering if they would like her. I suppose, she thought, I shall have to wait and see.
