Meet My Family!

"We're here!" Newt exclaimed. Tina ran out on deck, relieved to finally see land. The boat ride had been boring, and the thought of having her feet on firm land was extremely appealing.

The boat pulled up, and Newt held her hand as they walked down the gangplank, which made her tingle all over. "There they are," Newt said, pointing off in the distance. Tina looked. There stood Caoimhe and Theseus, standing still, Caoimhe trying to conceal her excitement. The moment her blue eyes landed on Newt, she sprinted forward, arms outstretched. Newt swept her up in a hug. She they broke apart, they gazed into each others eyes for a second before Theseus boomed, "Newt!" He tucked Newt under his arm, kneading his knuckles into Newt's head before Newt wrestled free. Theseus turned to Tina. "Is this your girlfriend?" he asked, one eyebrow raised. Caoimhe's eyes narrowed at Tina, observing her in a way that made Tina nervous. Newt blushed. "Mum and Dad are back home. They've been waiting." Caoimhe said, her eyes never leaving Tina's face. Her voice sounded like wind chimes dancing in a breeze. She finally turned to Newt, and the four walked off together.

They came to a carriage where a hippogriff that had no wings stood. "Poor thing. His wings were burned right off," Caoimhe said softly, reaching up to stroke it's neck. "Such cruel people." Her eyes flashed to Tina again for a split second before climbing up into the carriage. Theseus followed. Newt held out his hand, and helped Tina step in before stepping in himself. Theseus handed the reins over to Caoimhe before using magic to untie the hippogriff from the post. "Theseus, this really isn't-" Newt was interrupted when the hippogriff reared, slamming down to charge forward at full speed.

Caoimhe attempted to slow it down, but her efforts were of no use. The hippogriff was much stronger than a little girl. The world around Tina was a blur. Newt wrapped his arms around her, holding her close to keep her from falling off the side. His scent engulfed her, a feeling of security washing over her. Caoimhe scowled for a second before turning her concentration back to the wild hippogriff. They were nearing a large house, but Tina couldn't work out most of the details because they were going so fast. Caoimhe pulled back with all her might, but Theseus had to come up and help her in order to make the carriage stop. Newt's father and mother flew out of the house. Newt's mother ran up to the hippogriff, stroking it's beak and murmuring soothing words. Newt's father helped Caoimhe down from the carriage as the others got off. "Theseus, what were you thinking? Going out on a wild hippogriff, allowing a young girl to drive it?!" Newt's mother demanded. Newt's mother was even more beautiful in person that in the photo. She turned to Tina, a warm smile on her face. "You must be Tina. Newt's been talking all about you. I'm Mrs. Scamander, by the way. Welcome to our home!" Mrs. Scamander embraced her. She smelled of honeydew. "Thank you, Mrs. Scamander," Tina replied gratefully. "I do hope you'll excuse Theseus. That crazy boy thinks he's indestructible ever since the war when he was named an official war hero," she said, her British accent lacing through her voice as she spoke. "It was actually a lot of fun," Tina replied, unable to stop the smile that crept to her face. Mr. Scamander walked up to her. "I am so sorry about Theseus, truly I am. He's always been reckless." He said to Tina. "It's no problem," Tina said. "Poor dear. How does some food sound?" Mrs. Scamander asked. Tina's stomach rumbled. "Sounds fantastic!"
