I Will Always Be There To Catch You

Black, bubbling liquid crashed around her. "Mr. Scamander!" Tina cried, standing on the cold metal chair. "Don't panic!" Newt said. "What do you suggest I do instead?" Tina demanded. Newt hissed at the swooping evil, causing it to begin to circle her. "Jump," he replied. "Are you insane?!" Tina said, her voice filled with anxiety. "Tina, I'll catch you," Newt said, his voice trembling slightly. "Go!" he shouted, but she couldn't. She didn't trust him. The black liquid engulfs her, causing her to scream at the top of her lungs.

"Tina!" Tina awake in the plush guest bed of the Scamander house. Newt's hands were on her shoulders, as if he had been trying to shake her awake. Without thinking, she threw her arms around him and buried her face into Newt's neck, tears streaming down her face as she inhaled Newt's scent. He rubbed her back gently until she calmed down. He pulled back a little to look at her. "Are you okay, Tina? I heard this horrible screaming, and I found you thrashing in your bed. Was it a bad dream?" Newt tucked a lock of hair behind her ear as he spoke. "I can't stop thinking about the Death Chamber at MACUSA," Tina admitted, embarrassed at her foolishness. "In my dream, I would see you there, asking me to jump, but I never could. The potion would engulf me and-" She interrupted herself when Newt took her back into his soft, warm arms. There was a beat of silence. "Tina, tell me what happened at the Death Chamber," he said. She thought for a moment. "I jumped, and you caught me. I was safe," she said softly. "Exactly. There is nothing to be afraid of, Tina, not now or ever. I would never let you fall. I will always be there to catch you." Newt laid her back onto the bed before sitting on the bed close by. He sat there until she fell fast asleep, comforted by Newt's presence. The next time she woke up, she felt a spark of love when she realized Newt was fast asleep, still sitting beside her.
