Tina awoke to find that her head was no longer resting on Newt's lap. Newt was lying beside her, fast asleep, his arms wrapped around her protectively. She buried her face into his warm chest, allowing his scent to completely engulf her. She looked up to see that Newt's cheeks were stained with tears. He had been crying in his sleep. Tina reached up to wipe them away, which caused him to jerk awake. His blushed, but she wrapped her arms around him and pressed her face into his chest. Newt relaxed a bit, kissing the top of her head.

He sighed. "I have to get up, Tina." She groaned in complaint, but Newt gently unhooked her arms from around him, climbing over her gently to get up. The couch felt so cold without his presence. She got up and followed him to the case, where they both climbed inside.

Tina helped care for each of the creatures. When they were done, she turned to Newt. "I heard what you said to Alice last night," Tina said gently. Newt turned away, but she grabbed his wrist. "Newt, you are an extremely lovable dummy if you think for a second that I could ever fall in love with someone else besides you. And you are an even bigger one if you think that other men are better for me. I want you, I need you, and only you. I will say it as many times as it takes for it to get through your head. I. Love. You." Tina's voice was firm. She reached up to cup his face gently, turning it towards her so that she could look into his green eyes. She begged silently for him to believe her. Newt leaned forward and kissed her gently. Her hands rested on his chest, his hands on her waist. He pulled back and looked at her, his eyes filled with regret. "I'm sorry, Tina," he whispered. Suddenly, he apparated away.

Tina fell back onto her bed at the apartment. "Tina, I can't. I can't keep putting you in danger. If you are around me, your life is in grave danger. I refuse to allow you to give up everything for me. I'm leaving you here. I pray that you will find someone that can offer you more than I ever could." Newt's eyes were filled with a pain she didn't think was possible. "Don't leave me here! I refuse-" Tina was cut off when Newt leaned forward and kissed her fiercely. He pulled away all too soon, and with one last "I love you," Newt was gone, leaving Tina in her apartment alone.
