THE WHISPERS OF THE DARK {HORROR/PARANORMAL}

1. Black devouring by CharisseEerie

Title (4/5) :: The title has a spooky sense to it, though it doesn't discloses much about the story's plotline it has appeal to it.

Cover (4.5/5) :: I liked the the cover, it is mysterious and dark, perfect for a paranormal genre story.

Blurb (3.5/5) :: The blurb more or less only tells a scene out of a story, nothing about the plot or the background of the story, however the scene may capture the attention of people looking for spicy scenes in a paranormal genre book.

Mechanics (17/20) :: The grammar is perfect, although there are some unnecessary words used sometimes by mistake I suppose, and unnecessary space between Semi colon and dialogue. The vocabulary isn't rich although it is not a bad thing, it is good even because People don't want to hold a dictionary as they read a story.

Plot (23/25) :: I liked the plot of the story a lot, it wasn't just some cliché; at first I thought she would get together with the sister's boyfriend Jax thank god that wasn't the case (or I wouldn't have come to like the story as much as I did), as a reader it is nice to see a plot twist.

Flow and pacing (14/15) :: The pacing in my opinion is great, neither too fast nor too slow, it is more than adequate.

Character development  (8/10) :: The character development is adequate in my opinion as far as I have read, the main character is starting to fight for her dignity, which was a very bold move on her part because she was up against a group of people; all strong.

Creativity and originality (4.5/5) :: I liked the creativity of the author a lot, it has some cliché mixed with uniqueness which makes it appealing to the readers.

Emotions (7/10) :: Emotions were suppressed a lot, which was in the protagonist's behaviour still it wasn't good in the reader's perspective because they would've done things like a normal person, this limits the connectivity of readers to the protagonist.

Total (85/100) :: I liked the latest chapter that I have read a lot, where the potential love interest was introduced and how their interaction went, it was a new kind of budding romance. I would recommend this story to anyone looking for romance, adventure and horror.

2. Hell's Hottest Delivery by HennyKugz

Title (5/5) :: The title is unique and depicts the plot a lot, it also catches the attention of the reader.

Cover (4/5) :: The cover looks really appealing and is creative, The text of the title also looks catchy, although the colour scheme seems a bit unpleasant, of the girl's hairs mainly.

Blurb (4/5) :: The blurb is intriguing and hooks the reader to know more, although the aesthetic of it could be made better as the alignment of texts isn't right.

Mechanics (19/20) :: The grammar is perfect, I also didn't find any spelling mistakes. The vocabulary is quite good too.

Plot (23/25) :: The plot seems unique to me, and the possible love interest and the protagonist interaction is also kind of unique which makes it not a cliché.

Flow and pacing (13/15) :: The pacing was good, although a bit slow in the starting, however that was fine so that readers can get an understanding of the protagonist.

Character development  (9/10) :: The protagonist is undergoing a serious character development, she might know what she truly is capable of and how her true nature should be. I am not sure if being a murderer is considered character development (just kidding). She is becoming a stronger lady than she was before.

Creativity and originality (4/5) :: The story is one of a kind, the creativity of making the protagonist fart to get away from a pervert, the love interest (possibly) getting attracted by the protagonist's leg, to her mother giving instructions for her own daughter's stalking, the creativity is immense. The originality is also credible.

Emotions (7/10) :: Emotions aren't portrayed the best here, but what do you expect from a paranormal genre with Demons and Other creatures? Although I think the protagonist will undergo a emotional rollercoaster later in the chapters, she already considers herself a murderer.

Total (89/100) :: I liked the story a lot, the creativity deserves praise, there are a lot of funny remarks which keeps the reader engaged. This story needs more recognition, I am surprised by the less reads in this, this story is such a good one.

3. Slate gray by alpaljames

Title (3/5) :: The title fits the story but tells little to nothing about the story in first glance.

Cover (4/5) :: The cover looks creative as the characters match the description and imagination of how the sisters would look, the font of the title in the cover could be better though.

Blurb (4/5) :: Short and concise, the blurb tells the important stuffs and makes the readers intrigued to know more.

Mechanics (19/20) :: There were no mistakes or grammatical errors throughout the story, the vocabulary used is also great.

Plot (24/25) :: The plot seems unique to me and it is depicted in the best way possible, with levels of demon and then the plot twist that Ace didn't just chose a simple but a complex case as her first job.

Flow and pacing (14/15) :: The flow was seemingly slow paces at first but that would be to build rapport, it worked. The flow is quite good too.

Character development  (9/10) :: Both main characters are building great characters as the story progresses. Ace is proving she isn't a small girl and that she is capable. Perrin has always been strong and her resistance to the demon; Linda was remarkable.

Creativity and originality (5/5) :: I loved the story's creativity and originally, I think the story is very creative and the originality is at its peak.

Emotions (9/10) :: The emotions are depicted pretty well throughout the story, to show that the dad is worried for his daughters even when they are strong, same can be said for Perrin worrying for her sister Ace. The emotions roller coaster Ace went through when Perrin got hurt trying to save her from the demon was portrayed well too.

Total (91/100) :: The story is very well written though it could be confusing to the most. I liked the plot for its uniqueness, The plot is unique and the setting too.

4. Revenge of the witch by SAM-JUDITH5

Title (3.5/5) :: Not quite unique but it depicts the plot of the story well.

Cover (3/5) :: The girl is looking pretty but by the description of the story the protagonist is supposed to have red hair meanwhile the girl in the cover has black. Apart from that, the font and colour of the title isn't visible.

Blurb (3/5) :: There are many grammatical errors and punctuation mistakes, the sentence framing isn't done correctly.

Mechanics (7/20) :: There are many grammatical mistakes, punctuation errors and the sentences don't make sense most of the time. The story jumps from one scene to another in a flick of a second. Sometimes, the vocabulary used is too exquisite meanwhile other times it sounds vague. The description of people and situation can get some improvement, just writing 36 years old, blue eyes, brown hair etcetera etcetera isn't going to suffice and it doesn't appeal much, try to make it interesting.

Plot (18/25) :: The plot seems promising though it is quite cliché, the cliché could be removed if the ending is unique.

Flow and pacing (5/15) :: The flow of the story is not good, the story progresses too fast in some scenes not giving readers time to register what just happened, the scenes are very short.

Character development  (7/10) :: The character development so far is going quite good, the innocent girl is transforming into a devil. (Although I would say the innocent girl part wasn't highlighted much, the author should dwell more on that fact, try to showcase ways in which she had been a kind-hearted girl and what she has become now.)

Creativity and originality (3/5) :: The creativity and originality is adequate, the introductory quotes which summarises the whole chapter in a few lines is a good idea.

Emotions (6/10) :: The emotions could be portrayed in a more effective way, it is lacking. When the mother died it was very messy, and the description writing can be improved, try to elaborate more about what emotion a character is feeling, their state of mind, etcetera.

Total (55.5/100) :: The story would be better the errors and the description are improved by editing. Apart from that the story is quite good as a whole.

5. Curse of the mystical double by Ennyrogers

Title (4.5/5) :: The title offers a mysterious nature to it, although many titales have been used like that it depicts the story's plot well.

Cover (3/5) :: The cover is alright, the font can get some improvement and the cover overall needs some creativity, I would recommend requesting a cover from a cover shop.

Blurb (3/5) :: The blurb is adequate though it could be improved, such as outright telling what happens in the end make it mysterious, don't reveal everything, frame it as questions such as Can she get her happy ending? Will her life end without getting the love she deserves?

Mechanics (13/20) :: There were spelling mistakes and the sentences used a lot of repetition, like he had Red eyes, he was tired, he was wearing this and that, he had grown a stubble and he reeked of alcohol. It sounds way too vague and boring, try to make it interesting and descriptive.

Plot (20/25) :: The plot so far seems intriguing and promising although the mysteriousness is very less after reading the blurb, the blurb tells the ending which is a turn off.

Flow and pacing (12/15) :: The flow was good, although in the starting it was vague with the I am waiting for this and that since I was twelve. Try to make it emotional and make the readers engaged and attached with the characters.

Character development  (9/10) :: The character development is going good so far and I am expecting it to be better by the latter off of it.

Creativity and originality (3.5/5) :: The originality of this story is credible, this one is the first I have read which offers different insights in the werewolf world. However the creativity is a bit lacking.

Emotions (8/10) :: The emotions aren't portrayed very well, but that would be because of the vague description written, if the description could be improved the emotions portrayal would become better too.

Total (76/100) :: The story needs some improvement, I would recommend getting an editor for it. Apart from that the idea of the plot is simply awesome.

6.  Blood bargain by CamelliaCarroll

Title (4/5) :: The title itself is giving spooky and mysterious vibes, the title is good enough to catch a reader attention.

Cover (4.5/5) :: The cover looks aesthetically pleasing and is creatively made.

Blurb (3.5/5) :: The blurb is well written though it sounds mundane and doesn't hook the readers.

Mechanics (19/20) :: The grammar and spellings have no errors and the vocabulary of the author is diverse, the way they describe the situation and what's happening is very ancient like, giving the story the feel that is needed for paranormal genre.

Plot (23/25) :: The plot is very intriguing and unique, the way the author reveals things bit by bit is engaging and keeps the reader engaged to know more about the plot.

Flow and pacing (14/15) :: The flow is perfect, it is neither fast paced nor slow paced, it's gives enough to make a reader come back everytime for more, and let them process what's happening in the scenario.

Character development  (9/10) :: The protagonist got under great character development, I loved her interaction with others and how the potential love interest wasn't afraid of her and she was easy to blend in with him.

Creativity and originality (4/5) :: This story is unique, I have never came

across this type of story, and I loved how the author kept the mystery and revelation coming as the story progresses.

Emotions (8/10) :: The emotions were depicted adequately, I would say it needs a bit of improvement but that was just how the character is so it's okay.

Total (88.5/100) :: The story is great and has a lot of potential to grow more.

7. Human trash by lilac_minded

Title (3.5/5)

Cover (3/5)

Blurb (3.5/5)

Mechanics (18/20) ::

Plot (21/25) ::

Flow and pacing (12/15) ::

Character development  (6/10) ::

Creativity and originality (4/5) ::

Emotions (6/10) ::

Total (74/100) :: The title Sounds vague but interesting, it gives some insight on what is going on in the story. The cover can get some improvement, the font colour in the background doesn't stand out much.

The vocabulary of the author is quite impressive and it fits the theme of mysteriousness and horror perfectly.

The plot is very unique. Mostly people would opt for a good ending but the author broke that chain with the ending seemingly nowhere, the series would go on in a spree.

The character development is non existent, the characters don't grow much, they are still coward, though that's the point.

The emotions were lacking, the shock and horror of what is happening should be displayed more.

8. The Wishing Well by 4lyrawoods

Title (4/5)

Cover (3.5/5)

Blurb (4/5)

Mechanics (19/20)

Plot (23/25)

Flow and pacing (13/15)

Character development  (9/10)

Creativity and originality (3.5/5)

Emotions (6/10)

Total (85/100) ::

The title depicts the plot of the story very well about how it's about a well which fulfilled some wish of a person. The cover looks aesthetically pleasing but doesn't quite match the paranormal theme. The blurb was adequate to catch a paranormal enthusiast attention.

The plot was amazing though it would have helped if more information about the protagonist's past would have been revealed. The Pace was good but at some point they were too fast paced like it could've been revealed more mysteriously how Evie was the culprit, it felt too fast paced, also Evie's motive should have been showed, what she wanted in life so desperately that she was willing to sacrifice her friends.

It should also be revealed what the creature in well is, how ot got there, what motivates it and such, though I think that would be revealed in second part.

Emotions should be depicted more often, the sadness, anger and betrayal, the description of emotion was lacking.

Fact : I was hooked and kept reading it in one seating until I finished it.

Mechanics (20/20)

Plot (24/25)

Flow and pacing (15/15)

Character development  (10/10)

Creativity and originality (4.5/5)

Emotions (8/10)

Total (95/100) :: The title is enough for readers to guess that the story is going to be mysterious and spooky, the cover attracts the attention of readers a lot with its eye pleasing look, the blurb perfectly written to hook a reader to know what will happen in the story.

The author's way of writing is truly impressive,I like how she turns words into vivid imagination in the readers mind, it is a flawless transformation.

The plot is unique and by what the author as said inspired by a folklore, it is very intriguing, it kept me hooked and I kept reading (it's 1 AM right now), the flow and pacing of the story was perfect, the story was flowing like a movie, neither slow nor fast, it gave enough time for readers to process the information and imagine it happening in their mind.
