❦ Chapter 51 - Why
*Melody*
In 2 weeks we'll be leaving on tour, and thankfully today was a day off from rehearsing.
Mother was at ease with her pregnancy and right now just trying to come up with names for my little brother.
We're all stuck between
We've also been looking into moving into a new house soon, since the apartment will soon become pretty stuffy with the baby and all.
Today we were all at home, Tahlia was resting on the couch with me while my father was organizing some sheets in the studio room, and Alice cooked up some lunch.
Tahlia was leaned against the arm of the couch while I curled a bit next to her, Hemingway sort of sprawled over her thigh asleep, Orange Cat curled up nearby while Mao was on my stomach and we watched The Umbrella Academy.
Mao and Orange Cat are still really curious of Hemingway, but have also been quite protective of him since he arrived. Hemingway does, however, prove to be quite mischievous. Hehe.
We were watching Episode 6 when I suddenly heard my father sound upset in the studio room and I pause the show to listen, but considering it was in the studio room it sounded muffled.
"He's upset about something," I said as I carefully sat up, Mao looking up curiously at me.
"Maybe he's stressing?" Tahlia shrugged.
The shouts continue and I couldn't hold back the curiosity and got up, moving Mao aside.
"I'm going to see what's wrong," I said.
"Do you want me to go with you?" She asked.
I nodded as we held hands and went down the hall, the cats following as well, equally curious.
We approach the door and I hear Mother and Father arguing...

"Those animals kidnapped our daughter, broke her wrist, nearly put her on a human trafficking ring, and then killed her biological mother!" Alice snapped.
"You don't think I know that?" I said.
"They why do they need her to go?" Alice asked. "Hasn't she been through enough with the trial?!"
"They said its protocol and I can't just keep her from this any longer," He said.
Alice sighed in frustration.
"Believe me, I don't want those bastards anywhere near her, but its required she be there for their sentencing," I said.
All of a sudden a shrill little meow went off behind us and we jumped, turning to see Hemingway stood not far from us.
"Hemingway?" I asked, then looked up to see a worried Melody, along with Tahlia.
I sighed, realizing they must of heard the conversation.
"What's going on?" Melody asked as she stepped up, Tahlia picking up Hemingway.
I sighed as I held my hand out for my daughter, who took it and walked over as I sat down, Alice going to stand next to Tahlia.
"Those men... The ones who kidnapped you months ago..." I said. "They recieve their sentence tomorrow, and... The man who kidnapped you requests to meet you."
Her eyes widen in shock.
After Melody was released from the hospital after being rescued from the people who kidnapped her and killed Victoria, the case was put to trial.
The kidnappers had plead not guilty for some reason, their lawyer making up some bullshit, but eventually they were found guilty either way.
After a heartbreaking testimony from Melody, who had to remember witnessing her mother's unfair murder before managing to escape, I decided it was best she avoid the courthouse as much as possible.
This time, however, its not possible.
"What does that son of a bitch want with her? Has he not caused her enough pain already?" Tahlia snapped.
"Father, are... Are they going to be executed?" she asked.
"Honey, I... I don't know," I sighed. "They could be put on death row, maybe for years, be executed soon, or just serve a life sentence. Its up to the system to decide what punishment is best."
She frowned and looked down quietly, Tahlia looking just as nervous.
"I will see him..." Melody suddenly said, somewhat blanky.
I frowned and looked up, everyone looking at Melody.
"I want to meet the man who kidnapped me.... Who killed my mother," she said sternly.
"No," Alice snapped.
"Mother," Melody spoke softly.
"I agree with her," Tahlia said. "That bastard killed your mother, he almost sold you as god know what to some other son of a bitch on the other side of the world, almost ended your career when he broke your wrist... You'd be giving him some sort of satisfaction meeting him like this, Melody."
"I understand the cons to this, but there is something I need to know," Melody spoke. "I want to know why he did this, mostly why he killed my mother..."
Tahlia frowned as I took hold of Melody's shoulder.
"He killed your mother because he was evil and only wanted money, even if it meant getting a little blood on his hands," he said.
"I got closure with my birth mother... But I still have no closure with her death," Melody said sternly.
My eyes widen.
"He took her before I even had a chance to forgive her..." she said. "I want to be there when he admits to why..."
I hesitated as I looked at her, Tahlia and Alice looking worriedly at her.
"Are you sure about this, Melody? I can talk to someone, you don't have to do this," I said.
"My absence from previous court dates could have risked his sentence, Father... Its a miracle they even found him guilty," I said. "I cannot just be hidden any longer."
I pursed my lips.
"Its time I face him, and let him know he also lost, and people like him will face their sins and crimes," I said.
I sighed, knowing there was no winning.
"Alright..." He sighed. "I'll call Dina, but if at any moment you want to leave, you let me know."
She nodded confidently. "I promise."

"Are you sure you know what you're doing?" Tahlia asked me as we laid in bed that night.
I sighed. "I'm sure... I just feel like I'm missing something..."
Tahlia pursed her lips as she played with my hair.
"I want to be there with you," she said.
I looked up at her.
"I don't want you doing this alone... This man hurt you, and... The idea that you'll be in the same room as him, the whole U.S. military and Queen's guard could be surrounding you and I'd still feel scared out of my mind for you," She said. "I want to be there by your side and make sure you're okay."
I smiled softly at her before pulling her into a soft kiss.
We kissed for a while before pulling back.
"I love you... So much," I said.
She smiled. "I love you, too."
I pulled her into a hug as we cuddled.
"By the way... You can come on tour with me if you want," I added.
"Really?" she asked, surprised.
I giggle and nodded. "Yeah. I could use a bunk mate," I said.
She giggled and nodded. "I would love to come, babe."
I smiled as we kissed again, a little more passionately, then curled up in each other's arms before we drifted off to sleep.

I feel like this story is coming to an end, but I also feel like there's more left so I'm going to try my best to extend this story as much as I can without having to use any fillers. This chapter was a little sloppy, but I haven't updated and I just kind of bullshitted the idea.
Eitherway, fingers crossed I come up with something good. 🤞🏻🌻
