V.a.t.V #1

🌪Fiveee 🎻

Klaus's newfound love of drugs did not surprise me. I figured with his tortured mind and quirky personality, it was only a matter of time before he offed himself or turned to drugs, or both. What did surprise me though, was the fact that no matter how intoxicated he was, he never failed to defend his sister. Vanya. I had come downstairs after a long talk with Pogo, to find Klaus yelling at Luther, attempting to make himself look taller to match the young boy's astounding height. "She's fine!" Luther exclaimed, somehow becoming even larger, towering over my stumbling brother. "She is-" He fumbled with his words for a moment but quickly recovered, "She is not fine Luther! Look at her!" Klaus said his name as if it were a curse, roughly gesturing towards Vanya, who was crumpled on the floor next to my favorite book case which was now broken in many places. Allison kneeled  with Ben at Vanya's side, helping her recover from whatever it was that happened, while Diego stood awkwardly on the other side of the crumpled girl, fiddling with his hands and staring at the floor.

"What happened here?" I asked, glancing threateningly at Luther, who tensed, then back to Vanya. Allison met my eyes, fear filling her expression, she ducked her head and continued to help Vanya. Diego slowly made his way closer to me and Ben now squatted on his feet instead of his knees, as an easier way to stand up. They all knew by now, my care for Vanya, some knew more than others, but they all knew that my need to keep her protected - especially since the incident with Reginald - was the one thing I truly cared about in our unforgiving household. The last time Luther had messed with her, I ended up with Ben, Diego and Allison piled on top of me, Ben pushing my head down, trying to sooth me, as Diego attempted to remove the kitchen knife from my hand and Allison holding my legs down while simultaneously trying to rumor me. They were all on edge now, and when Vanya saw me, she got up as quickly as she could and brushed herself off, forcing a smile and attempting to cover the book shelf which she knew I would be additionally mad about.

"I'm fine Five." She said sweetly, her bangs which needed a trim, covered half of her eyes, but it wasn't hard to tell that they were welling with tears. There was also a scratch on the side of her face andone leading down from her neck, which I guessed was across her back as well. "Mhm, yeah fine." I said sarcastically, brushing past her, closer to Luther and Klaus who looked like he was about ready to slug him in the face, if he could actually control his body. Ben was standing now and Diego was significantly closer. Allison hid something sharp under a book and held her hands out calmingly. "Luther what did you do?" I asked, clenching my fist and staring at him. Klaus backed away a little, "Uh Ben..." I shot him a look before he could finish. Vanya came up behind me and grabbed my arm, clinging to my Jacket sleeve, her touch - as she knew it would be - was annoyingly calming.  "Five." She said calmly, stroking her free hand's finger tips over my clenched one, "I really am okay, lets just all calm down. You, me and Ben can pick up the books and fix the shelf. It's all okay." My stiffened body relaxed and my fist un-clenched.

Klaus looked at Vanya for confirmation that she was truly okay and she shrugged a bit, raising a brow. He nodded and slowly stepped away from Luther, struggling to step backwards, as if even his feet were slurred. "That's right dog, back away when your master calls." Luther muttered.A/N: Sorry, I know it's kinda cliche to make Luther the 'bad guy' in Fiveya stories, but I needed to because I don't like Luther and because I like all of the other characters too much too make them the meanest ones. Anyway, onward! Everyone's eyes went wide and Ben sprung forward, but he was too late, I space leaped from Vanya's grasp to Luther's back, where I jumped at the back of his head, getting a good hold on his neck. Vanya gasped from the sudden change in my location and then realized what was happening, she ran to where I was clinging to Luther's neck as he gasped for air. "Stop!" She exclaimed. I realized then that it wasn't Luther she was worried about, it was me.

Ben came quickly, pulling at the two of us, trying to bring us both to the ground so we could be more easily separated. Luther though, held up strong, even with his struggle for oxygen. Then Allison came, trying to rumor one of us, but Luther just gently pushed her away. Klaus went to Vanya who was still yelling for us to stop. Luther felt for a wall behind him, and when he found one, he thrust himself back, hitting me against it. He went back, again and again, until finally I was forced to let go, but I was quick to move again, kicking at a weak spot on his leg as he recovered from his lack of air. He fell to the floor but flipped over, pressing me down, hand on my throat, crushing my torso with his weight. "This is a little close before the first date, don't you think?" I grunted out, with a sly smile. His face became more agitated and his fingers pressed deeper into my throat.

"Get off him!" Vanya cried, trying to push Luther, but this of course did nothing, and Klaus had to pull her back. Ben, Diego and Allison pulled at Luther, although, Allison refused to rumor him, a promise she had made to him long ago.

"That's enough!" Pogo's voice rang loud over all of the noise and commotion. Everyone stopped and Luther loosened his grip on me, enough so that I could push him off and rub my throat where his fingers had been. "All of you to your rooms now! I want to speak to you two." Pogo said pointing at Luther and Vanya. Luther got up to follow but Vanya paused, she looked at me, then at Ben, then back at me, then at Ben again. She gestured to me and gave him a look, and then followed Pogo. Ben came and kneeled next to me and inspected my neck, but I only space jumped away to my room.

I angrily changed into a pair of pajama pants, throwing my jacket and shirt to the floor aggressively. I knew there would be no dinner tonight so there was no need to keep my uniform on now, seeing as it was late in the day.

All I could think was, 'is Vanya okay?'

🌪🎻

My book had become so distracting and enticing that it took the fifth knock for me to notice there was someone at the door. "Five." A small, whispering voice spoke my name cautiously. "Come in Vanya." She did, slowly opening the door which had darts stuck in it. She stuck her head in first, and then softly entered, her presence making all of the tension that had radiated off of me, melt. Her eyes were red and puffy, she had been crying, though neither of us dared to mention it. She shut the door behind her but her quiet presence became more anxious when she saw my much bruised neck, and practically all blue ribs and back. "Jesus Five." She expressed, walking over to where I had stood up. She lightly ran her fingers along the blue and yellow spots on my throat and squeezed her eyes shut. "Stay here." She said, then quickly left the room. I stood very still, worried that if I were to move, she wouldn't come back. But she did, she always does. In her hand lay a cold wet cloth, and in her other were many ice packs and a large wrapping bandage. She also carried two bags of chocolate chip cookies between her teeth. She dropped the cookies and supplies on the bed and crawled on, crossing her legs and motioning for me to join her. I sat across from her, crossing my legs so that our knees touched.

She took the cloth silently, and pressed it against my throat. I winced at the pain of the pressure and she quickly lifted her hand, "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to hurt you." Her eyes darted towards her hands. I allowed a small smile to cross my lips, I grabbed her hand, which held the cloth, and pressed it back to the most painful bruise on my neck. "You could never hurt me." I said, gaining a small grin from her as well.

She finished with the cloth and grabbed three ice packs and the two bags of cookies. She threw a cookie bag at me and opened hers, pulling one out and popping it into her mouth, grinning at the taste. Vanya took the Ice packs and placed them strategically across my back, having me hold them in place. She popped another cookie in her mouth and then grabbed the wrapping bandage. Her hands started delicately at my core, pulling the bandage tightly around my ribs, across my back and over my stomach again. "Is that too tight?" She asked kindly, looking up at my eyes which already rested on her. I shook my head and ran a hand through my hair. The cold of the ice packs was brutal and shocking, but soothing against my bruised body.

When Vanya was done, she pinned the bandage to itself and looked up to me to make sure I was comfortable. I let out a simple smile and a breath I didn't know I had been holding.  My eyes fell upon her face, where a scratch covered in dried up blood, lay on her jaw bone, one passed down her neck onto her back as well. "How badly did he hurt you?" I asked, stroking my thumb over the wound on her jaw. "I'm fine, I wish I could say the same for the bookcase though." She said, her eyes were filled with an uncertain light as my hand rested on her cheek. "It's not the bookcase I'm worried about." I said, pulling her in for a hug, her soft sweater melting into my bandaged and bare torso. "I'll get revenge for the bookcase later, maybe I'll break one of his weights or rip one of his many, many pictures of himself." I said, causing her to giggle into my chest. Her laugh always made me smile, its purity beyond compare.

I pushed her away just slightly, so that I could take the rag to her jaw, wiping the scratch clean. "Alright, let me see the bad one now." She hesitated, not because she was uncomfortable with showing me her back, but because she was worried of how I would react, but she eventually turned around and sat between my legs, her knees pulled up to her chest.  I carefully lifted the back of the sweater, finding that it was worse than I had thought. Large bruises splotched all over, differentiating in color, a large gash ran across her back as well, spanning diagonally from her neck to the small of her back. "Vanya!" I exclaimed, running my fingertips over a bruise. She buried her face in her knees and shuttered a bit, "It's not as bad as it looks." She lied. "I'm gonna kill him." I said, fully serious. She quickly turned to face me, her hair wild around her face, "No. Five you have to promise me that you won't do anything. I'm okay, I really am okay, see," she grabbed my hand and held it to her heart, underneath her hands, "I'm here, I'm okay. You have to promise me. I don't want to be stitching you up instead of icing a bruise. Do you understand me? Promise."  Her eyes were wide and her expression serious. I sighed, her eyes were pleading me and I couldn't help but go against my urge to stab Luther in his left artery. "I promise, I promise you I won't." I said, trying to sound reassuring. She nodded slowly and let my hand drop to her knee. "But," I started, her eyes finding mine questionably, "I also promise that I'm gonna get you away from here one day, away from Luther, away from Reginald," She flinched at his name, and I moved my hand to her face, "Maybe we'll even bring Ben." I said smiling. "Klaus too." She said, a grin crossing her lips, "Klaus too." I repeated, pulling her into another hug, slipping my hand with an ice pack in it under the back of her sweater, to lay on a bruised spot. "I promise."

I hope you liked it, comment and let me know! Stay smarvelous, you always are.
