Chapter 30: Spending too much time with you made me realize something greater

I wish I could be more than just that and truly belong somewhere.
I wish everything would be so much easier and I can be
with those I love.
But you can't get everything
you wish for...

Miracine Seaton

I kept pretending to sleep and wondered what I should do.  Should I let him and just let it pass or should I pretend to wake up?  But I also wondered did he feel something for human form of me?

I decided to stop pretending and acted as if I was about to wake.  I stretched and I open my eyes and made a confused expression as if I wondered why he was there

He was blushing, "I oh... umm... .I...hi?" I burst out laughing at his response.  He was so nervous of what I would think.  Does he not know I have the desire for him and only him?

"You still do not know?  How unfortunate...." I whispered as I got up I watched his expression.

"What?  No...I was just...passing and you know I think....Where were you a few years ago?  Live?  I mean uh....Nevermind." He lowered his head, quite nervous.
I could be talking of two things.  One.  That I am a mermaid.  Two.  That I have this deep passion of endless happiness and desire of this attraction to him it is greater than simply liking him.
My both forms show that, but if he realizes both or any of them I would not mind.

"I wish you knew, it really is a shame...." I muttered as I started to head out of the room.

"Wait what did you-" He annoys me so much. "Mira."  I looked down and sighed will he ever realize it? "Mira."  I mean he is just so stupid but sometimes I wonder am I just imaging things and am I just so delusional to think that.  "Mira."
What if he just seems me as someone to help get pass hard times when I am a mermaid and since I was not around he is going to use my regular self.  "Mira."  He could not care a thing, even though I greatly feel excessive happiness that makes me feel for incredible desire for him that I cannot even expression.
"Mira."  And maybe I should give up, I mean this is practically useless.  What if he never realizes it.  "MIRACINE."

"W-what?!" I stared at him in shock.  What was it?  He held my arms and felt the warmness of a human's flesh touching mine.  That is right humans have warm heat the radiates off them and they are warm blooded.  Mermaids live in the deep sea where humans will not be able to reach without loosing air.
To them it will not just be too much air, but too cold for them to face.  It is like how Melody was freezing in this weather and I had no problem with it.  Another reason is Seivon told me before how my hands and arms were cold.

"I've been calling your name for the last few minutes.  Are you okay?  I'm worried."  He is worried?  Wow....  He cares.

"It just...It just...." I sighed, "Ah nothing it does not matter."

"Mira, of course it matters."  After he said that I felt happiness fill inside me.  He was acting really odd and I was going to figure out why.

"Did what I said earlier upset you and that is why you are acting strange?" I turned away, "I am sorry, I really wanted to help you."  He walked closer to me and it was closer than I had ever been with him in this form.
Of course I done many things with him as a Mermaid, but that is our little secret.  And this was different and it almost making me nervous, but I do not know why.  We done this before and all the time.

"No... Not at all." He waved his hands in front of his face, "Am I not acting normal?  I thought I am.  As long as I am here I am."  I opened my mouth to say something, but nothing came out.
What was I suppose to say to that?  Was me being delusional a lie?

"What do you know?"  I took a risk by saying that.  If he thinks he is normal then maybe he will explain to me something that happened.  But I could not help it, but I noticed how he was this much close to me.
He was so much close to me that I was barely on the edge of the wall.  His hand were holding my arms as he just stared mysteriously into my eyes.  I was nervous and I kept just avoiding his glance.

"You want to know a secret.  I know you have some of your own that gets past the daily eye, but spending too much time with you made me realize something greater." He whispered every word in my ear.
"I also have a secret.  A secret you been waiting to hear.  I just know it and I can't believe everything that has happened, but I know almost everything.  And that secret of mine is the simply fact I know that yo-" All of sudden a crash was heard.  He backed away at once leaving me breathless.
He was barely touching me and I felt like this.  He looked shocked at what happened and seemed to debate what to do.  We both heard so arguing and yelling and he sighed.  I furrowed my eyebrows, we were so close.

"Ashton what are you doing?!" I heard Melody yells from somewhere.  I looked at Seivon and he shook his head muttering something under his breath.

"This isn't over!" He whispered to my ear and he exited into the halls.  Does he realize what he is doing to me?  I am hopeless.

"I know it's not.  Seivon," I watched him turned back to face me when I called his name, "It's far from over." Then he smiled as he went to his friends.

After finally making my way in this maze of a house, I finally found Melody and Ashton.  I looked and saw Melody and Ashton with clothes made to warm themselves.  They honestly looked a little bit ridiculous.
I wonder if humans made some kind of diving gear that will help keep them warm would they be able to get close to the sea countries and kingdoms?

"Now what was that crash about?" I just noticed Seivon was in the room.  He left before me and made here first I presumed.

"Ashton decided to throw everything on me.  His clothes and things; he dumped it all out." Melody was in fact, not making a pleasant face.

"Ashton..." Seivon warned and I just laughed.

"Well anyway.." Melody interrupted not wanting an argument to start.  "Miracine I think you should wear something else.  I couldn't imagine you wearing that."  This again?
I tilt my head in confusion.

"How many times do I hate to say it:  I.  Do.  Not.  Mind. This.  Weather.  I honestly like it.  It is comforting and reminds me of back home-- not New Zealand, but somewhere else." I turned away after I said that,
"It is nice and cool.  I can handle coldness just fine with what I am wearing."

"Wait you can handle coldness, yet I thought you were in our country since a few months ago, and before that you said you came from Australia."  Ashton spoke up.
I did say that.  Perfect.  While that was true, how do I explain to them.

"I just can.  I wasn't born in that place.  I was born somewhere else entirely and I always have been moving around." I told them with a frown.  I really hated talking about this.  I don't care that Mel found out, but she doesn't need to know everything that happened.
"Or maybe it's ancestors or because I've often gone to areas with freezing, deadly weather that is so cold no one used to it would survive." I smiled at my own inside joke.

"That's interesting.  Places so cold unless you are used to it would die." Seivon smiled, "What do you mean by that and if you die if you aren't used to it then how did you get used to it?"  I was questioned by Seivon.
Great.  He seems like such a different person than how he was treating me earlier.  His presence, and how he acting with me.  Wow.

"I already told you, relatives.  I know how about we stay around here for today and tomorrow the real part begins." I exclaim changing the subject.
I prefer if they would not dwell on what I said.

Later after twilight, I was in a room that I would be staying in.  Melody wanted it to be two with two, but that was outvoted when the rest of us wanted to be by ourselves in a room with no other.  The room I was staying in was a navy blue themed room which shined when the moonlight reflected from the window next to the bedside.
The curtains had a silver blue color and I allowed them to be far apart letting the light in.  The floor was dark-brownish, garnet wood tiles.  I was sitting on the bedside looking at the moon.  It was so endless and gleamed as brightly.  I quietly stepped out of the room and checked if there were anyone else up.
Thankfully, I heard not a sound.  Everyone must of been sleeping.  Quietly and silently, I found my way into the main room with a door leading outside.

I went out and breathe out of relief.  This weather, this place.... Everything it is so amazing, I sighed.  I danced around with only a thin long-sleeved shirt and a mid-thigh skirt that flowed whenever I spun around.  I took a step here and a step there, leaping across the snow as if nothing else mattered.  I know what they mean when everything was perfect.
It felt that way and this weather felt like the sea of my deep and cold home.  I whistled quietly playing a tune with just my lips:

"Flames of the night, rebirth like the Phoenix tonight, allow yourself to be free and let me save your lost soul suffering endlessly..."
I sung and hummed for awhile until I sighed.

I took a careful step before I realize I was near an almost frozen sea.  One step.  One step all it took.  I looked around and saw no one and heard no one.  So I leaped a great distance back and that is when I swam like no one else mattered.  Like no one else could stop me from doing what I dreamed of.  Like I could do whatever and the elders would not care.
I jumped up so high allowing my hair to reveal my designs of my country...my kingdom Kimoshei of the pacific seas.  My hair spread out and I allowed a form of more sea version appeared. First scales on my arms and fins appeared at every hidden side bone that correlates to a mermaid's body.  Sharp teeth and nails.  Gills on and skin more fish like.
As I landed in the water, I instantly became a mermaid within five minutes.  I allowed myself to sink deep down and at once I felt home.  The nice relaxing coldness that I am always used to.

All of the sudden I thought I heard something and went deeper down.  I shuffled around trying to spread floating seaweed and other ocean partials to cover me.  I looked up and realized it was just Seivon.  Should I go up?  Should I explained I followed him or say that I was just in the area, and if I told him I went with him I will surely turn into a sea slug.

"Violet..." I heard him mutter to himself.  "I wonder does being in different oceans hurt you?  Would you just come to me because it is me or is there another reason?  We stayed together so long even before so it seems but the truth about it is that the girl Miracine..." He trailed off looking around to spot any little moment and slowly walked away.
I guess my midnight swim will come to the end.  I crept back to the house minutes after he went inside.  I was sitting on my bed when I finally laid down and fell asleep.

The next morning came earlier than I anticipated.  I found my way to a place where they were eating.... Oh no I will have to eat human food.  That is wrong and I cannot digest that.  Melody noticed me and called out saying:

"Mira!  What do you eat?" Ashton was also there so I could not say the truth.

"Oh uh......I am not hungry." I said awkwardly as Seivon and Ashton just stared at me.  They probably could not believe I was not hungry.  Almost every human would be hungry after awaking.  When they were not looking, I pulled out my survival seafood and shoved it into my mouth before they could question.
This time it was seaweed with salt flavoring of the Atlantic.  When I was down there last night, I managed to find some floating ones.  And now I am biting hard as ever with my sharp teeth on it.

"Miracine?" Ashton called out to me.  "What are you doing?"

"Nothing." I quickly responded.  "What do you mean?"  Ashton shook his head.  "You know, we should go out and see what this place is all about!" I exclaimed wanting to change the subject.

And we step out the door prepared to go in the cold and they all were dressed for the cold...all except me.
The mermaid.  The Pacifican.  The one from the Kimoshei.

New Author's Note:
I'm so glad these latest chapters have been 2k rather than 3-4k.  Reading longer chapters are fun, but writing them are not.
