Chapter 18: Pacific Pure Water? You got to try some.
I dreamed of the day I could go farther
I wanted to see more
I never remembered anything of that time
I never remembered a lot
And I don't know why
Miracine Seaton
I turned the handle. I open the door. I pushed my hair to the side. I stepped forward. And I sat down in the cafeteria with them. And right in front of me was Malseania looking quite grim.
"Malseania, what happened to you?" I smiled sweetly tucking my hair behind my ears.
____________________________________________________________________________
"I would say the same thing to you." Malseania replied to my remark.
I wouldn't put it pass her to not say something like that to me. The only reason she hates me is because of Seivon and it is honestly annoying. Well maybe I shouldn't be talking. I hate her for the same thing.
"I woke up late, what else?" I played it nice. I really didn't want to start anything here. Kaisa all of the sudden started laughing.
"Oh, I heard. Your sweet brother decided to tell me what happen and spammed my phone." Kaisa frowned. I could imagine him doing that.
But she had the nerve to call him sweet? What's next, is he gonna be cute? Him being cute would just make me gag.
How hysterical.
"Oh joy...." I muttered in sarcasm, "Oh wait did you just say sweet? Are we talking about the same person? I know my brother as many things, but sweet is not one of them! What are you going to call my brother next? It's like telling Ashton that, and let me tell you that is impossible to be true." I sighed,
"Besides you don't deal with him trying to watch everything you do to oh 'protect his precious little sister'. He says he's protecting me but where was he three years ago when he turned me in?!"
"What?! How could you say that about me?" Ashton shouted dramatically. He was practically screaming. He is so weird and so dramatic sometimes.
"W-what?! I wouldn't say anything you're thinking of." Her face turned pale pink making her eyes turn even lighter. "Getting spammed by him is annoying, trust me!" She snapped out of it soon enough and put her irritated tone on. She then lowered her head, "And Miracine, it wasn't his fault. Do you really think that he wo-"
"Sure...." She mutters, "If that what helps you sleep, dearest." Melody grinned shaking her head.
"What do you mean?" Kaisa argued back.
I turned to Kaisa darkly, "Of course, you'll say that because everyone thinks the same. No one is ever on my side!"
"Of course, we're on your side!" She exclaimed in disbelief, but I really doubt it. "It's just everything you do is crazy. You're always getting into trouble and everyone else is supposed to clean up after your mistakes!"
"But that's the thing! You don't need to. I can handle myself. I am perfectly capable of doing so." I exclaimed, "Codfish, you're just acting as if I'm helpless. Everyone is and you're just pretending to care. I don't know what you have planned but I know it can't be good."
"She has a point, Kaisa..." I heard Ashton speak up.
Huh? So she is faking it?
"Are you serious?!" She ignored his words, "You don't know how selfish you're being right now! Every time you done something it has affected others greatly. As long as you don't have that, you can't handle yourself against others. It's like you're not even full." Kaisa sighed,
"You weren't there when I watched my ex friend cry from the terrors this society brought them. You weren't there when your decision brought doom to us all and I was forced to leave my home! You weren't there when everything I cherished was destroy and I wanted nothing but to die! But guess what! I can't die... we can't cause I'm... I have to be..." She started burst out crying.
She had tears that were so real that I never seen before on her.
"Kaisa... Maybe you shouldn't be saying all of this around... Here?" Malseania told her, but I could only look in wonder. What did that girl know about anything we spoke about.
"Just forget all of it," Kaisa muttered and didn't say much afterwards.
"Are you both alright?" Melody asked in concern. I noticed next to her was Seivon. He was silent and seemed down. I wonder if he was okay.
He would occasionally plaster a fake smile to Malseania, but that was it. Besides it was fake, but I doubt she or anyone for that matter could tell.
I took a sip of the water by flicking my finger allowing the water to move into my mouth without touching my skin. It was the water I always had with me for emergencies. Pacific Pure Water.
Brought to you by the Pacifican Kimoshei Princess™️
"Careful someone might bump the table, Mira. You don't know what will happen." Kaisa gestures to the water I was drinking. I was very confused why she was talking to me after a that.
I decided to pretend nothing has happened until we were elsewhere, "This one is different. Better than any water you drink anyways." I spinned the cap with my fingers showing them.
"I always liked Aquafina©, but I never heard of that brand." Melody glanced at the water bottle. "But at least it isn't Desani©. People who like that brand are crazy." She looks in Ashton's direction who grins sheepishly.
"It's not a brand it is just Pacific pure water from the ocean." I began explaining with my hands. "It is ocean water with salt being the only difference. I know someone that takes the salt out by....." I trailed off.
I was bluffing, but I didn't care. They don't need to know how I would just get water without salt in it. Well the only reason it didn't have salt was humanics would see me drinking salt.
"Pacific Pure Water?" Seivon muttered looking up.
"You got to try some." I encouraged all of them, "Brought to you by Pacifican Islands." I told him.
Seivon always brings a smile to my face. He does brighten up my day, but when he is upset he makes me down.
"More like the New Zealand islands." Melody added. Ah the country we are now in.
"Nah I think it should be called the Ashton Islands." We all laughed at his stupidity.
The conversation changed with Melody talking about some romantic book she is obsessed with. Apparently she finished it a week ago and can't get it out of her head.
"Did you dye your hair?" I turned to face Malseania who looked speechless. I guess she forgot some seaweed and other partials in her hair. But my, doesn't she look stunning?
"My hair? You mean being purple? You're one to talk. Your hair is the same color, unless..." She trailed off, "You're trying to copy me?!"
My hair is VIOLET not purple... How many times do I have to say it? A bit of a pet peeve of mine, but alas of course Malseania turned it back to me.
"No it's not that...... it just looks a bit green. It's nice..." I trailed off. "And my hair is VIOLET! V I O L E T! Not purple, violet. There is a difference.". I crossed my arms.
"Violet you say?" Mel raised her eyebrow.
"Green? Wait-what?!" Malseania took her phone out and saw her reflection and that was when she realized what I said was true.
She opened her eyes wide. "I must've not get all of it out..." The rest of the table turned to Malseania in confusion. She looked embarrassed by the fact they all started to notice it.
"Seaweed? What did you go for a swim?" Ashton chuckled, but then I noticed he looked like he was in pain. Did Malseania do something?
Well it could of been Seivon, or any of the others. "St...erhmmggh." He groaned. Did someone kicked him?
"I don't know what happen all of the sudden this odd thing happened yesterday. Some weird sea partials were sprayed all over me." She shuttered as she tried taking out the stuff out of her hair.
"So where are you from again?" Melody turned to face Malseania changing the subject. "I don't really know you and I'll like to get to know you better." I thought she said she didn't like her.
How...how dare she?
"I was born in Korea. I first visited here four years ago and then I moved here two years ago when people were being...." She trailed off. "They didn't understand me at all or how I was. Then I moved here. I was home-schooled awhile until recently." She smiled innocently.
Four years? Isn't that specific... Four years ago I saved Seivon. What a terrible coincidence! For some reason I feel like she is just saying things that aren't true.
What a liar.
"Four years ago, eh?" Ashton grinned. "You are in the presence of three of the survivors. If you were here four years ago, you know what I'm talking about." He pointed to himself smiling like the world must know it.
"I already know." She smiled so sweetly and I hated it. She leaned on Seivon's shoulder making me cringe with pure disgust. My insides were raging. I can't stand her. But I must keep calm.
I must keep calm...
I must keep calm...
I must keep calm...
I must keep calm...
I must keep calm...
I kept telling myself that.
"It honestly was shocking what happened. One moment we were dancing and listening to the music. And then the next apparently our head ship was lost. They couldn't see it. Turns out, it sunk mysteriously. Really strange. But anyway, all of the sudden we got a recording from our head ship.". Melody began to explain,
"It was a noise. Some voices, but they were electrifying. We all heard it and then our ship was sinking. Who knew some ships like the Pearled Marinian and the Pearled Marina would sink from some unknown force?" She explained, but all of the sudden I got pale and queasy.
T-the Pearled Marinian was connected to theirs? I-I....I was the cause? I caused Seivon to be parentless? I caused him to almost die?!
N-no....
Mivozene that cruel devilish brother of mine will regret showing me anything like that! He say they were all bad humans! But to him every human is evil. He said they have hurt many of us!
Over here I was freaking out and Kaisa decided to be extra annoying, "I think it happened on purpose." Kaisa suddenly spoke up.
What was she doing? I felt paler and paler. Sicker and sicker.
"What do you mean on purpose?" Ashton turned to her wide eyed.
She smiled devilishly, "I mean everything happens for a reason. And out in the sea? Out in the middle of nowhere for something happen out of the blue. For there to not be any signs and then that just happened. Isn't that a little obscure? If I hadn't known any better, I'd say it was something from the sea. Like an animal, but not an animal. Something with mystical ways to control things.". She gave me a knowing look as if she knew.
"Something that not many people know exists. And wasn't that ship sailing in the Pacific when it sunk, right Seivon? The Pacific? But rumor has it only those of the Pacific can control the Pacific, just like only those of the Atlantic can control the Atlantic," She turned to Seivon and his face looked worse than before.
I knew that affected him very badly and this isn't helping matters. He looked almost as sick as me. His knuckles were on the table pale as winter. I swear I am going to pass out.
Why is she telling them this? Isn't that a rule? We're not suppose to tell why any of the ships or unnatural things sinking is really caused by mermaids. And she claims she wouldn't break a rule. Ha, what a joke.
"Y-you don't say...." Seivon muttered looking pale. Melody turned to him and both of their eyes were wide open.
"I.. I rather not talk about... w-what happened to them..."
"So what is that something?" Melody turned to Kaisa intrigued.
"Who knows..." She whispered mysteriously, "You could try researching it by diving near the shipwreck. But then again it is known that every diver that tried to recollect information never came back alive. They ended up dying down there."
She muttered shaking her head. Kaisa was having fun with this isn't she.
"That's terrible!" Melody exclaimed again, "Who would want it to sink?"
Ashton had a disturbed expression on his face. His eyebrows were raised up high and he was muttering words under his breath.
"I wonder..." Kaisa said again, "Did whoever that made the ships sink not want anyone to look at the head ship? Maybe the evidence is there, or maybe someone on the ship had something they don't want anyone to see. Like what if-"
I couldn't take it anymore. Can she just stop talking? And she knows it pains me. I am feel such a distress. I can't take it anymore. Can she just stop. Just... Just SHUT UP!
I slammed my hands on the table. "SHUT UP!"
"Mira...." I heard Melody whispered.
Almost everyone at the table looked shocked from my out burst. Everyone except for Malseania. I felt awfully sick. It wasn't my fault. It was my brother. I didn't know they were there.
"Kaisa, haven't you done enough? But talking about that like it is a joke? That is just sick! Those beings out there, what if they didn't know. What if they were just as confused as the people on the ship and being manipulated themselves! But you keep on talking like it is some game! You are just like my brother!" I couldn't stand it.
Once the rage was out, there was no stopping it. "Why are you doing this, everything you say? You claim you do things for a reason, but how is it a good reason. You claim about your good reasons and it is for the better?! But is it really? You only care what the majority cares about! And to do something like this...how could you? You...you really are cruel......."
I pressed on my water with my hands in anger. Everyone was looking at the scene going between me and Kaisa. Then the cap busted off spraying the water everywhere...
I jumped back, avoiding the water. But then my mind forgot the pacific water would avoid me. Everyone else got splattered on, even Kaisa. She deserved that.
Sometimes she is even worse than Malseania.
"Seriously? It's water! Oh my gosh! Why did you spray water? Keep your thoughts under control. Besides I was just telling what I thought!" Kaisa started freaking out,
"It is not like it is true. Unless you know something everyone else doesn't! Seriously though, how could you? How could you spray water?" Kaisa was beyond upset.
"Kaisa chill out!" I exclaimed, "Just go to the bathroom or something if you need a change of clothes that badly and you can't wait more than five minutes." She ran out of the cafeteria and I sighed.
At least she won't turn fish, tails, and scales here.
"Well the atmosphere was getting so tense, I needed that," Ashton laughed at the water splashing him.
"Why did you say all that to her" Malseania came towards me and touched me on the arm. Wait....
She touched me?! With her hand which was covered with water.
5 minutes left.
"Don't touch me." I told her coldly, "I can't forgive you after what you said the other day. I thought I made it clear I don't want you to be near me if you are just going to act like that! I can't stand it when people think they can tell me what to do like that. Like excuse me? So unless you want me to tell them everything you said, I suggest you back off. Got it, sweetheart?"
I spat at her, changing my voice. "You're just filled with lies telling things to make everyone like you and think your oh so nice. And when you turn on one person, everyone will also hate them because you would never do anything to anyone? Isn't that right?" I crossed my arms.
"Oh and you said you moved her two years ago, because people were mean to you. But that same year your parents died in a shipwreck? Unless one of them is false. Make up your mind which one your going to tell and stick with it at least!"
I turned away as fast as I could. I ran off. I ignored their shouts for me to come back. I couldn't face them besides my time was running out.
2 minutes left.
I sighed. I pushed the outside doors opened and dived head and arms first into the deep blue ocean. My home. The Pacific.
Seivon Rivers
My mind was spinning. I felt sick. Please tell me Kaisa was just saying all those things to make me feel like this. It can't be true. If it happened in the Pacific than she might've caused it.
Miracine did act like those were manipulated but that is only if she is also a mermaid. Unless Violet's fellow mermaids did it. She probably had nothing to do with it, or didn't know it was happening. She could've just been passing and saw me. That's right...
Even as I tried to reassure myself, I felt the same. I don't blame her, I just want some answers. I wish I knew if Malseania is the mermaid or not... Yesterday, I was thinking she wasn't, but now I'm not so sure.
She seems to have all the details and things that makes sense concluding that she is the mermaid. But I don't want to say anything in case she is not. And I still haven't seen her in her mermaid form or the mermaid since I got with her. Is it her way of saying it is the truth?
I use to think it is Miracine, but everything is so confusing.
But now that I think about what Kaisa said about divers gone missing it gives more facts making me have to give in that some mermaids don't want something in the shipwreck to be found.
But I wonder what.... I just want to see my parents and everything left there. I just want to properly say goodbye. I just want to so I could move on.
I really hope Miracine is okay though. She was arguing and getting upset with everyone. I don't exactly understand the context but I can tell it's personal. Something was obviously bothering her. It might of have to do with Malseania, but I wasn't sure.
Is Melody right? Is she a mermaid too? But of all people why would she be one. She said before that she moved here. She took a plane. Why would she take a plane if she could swim? I never seen Mira like that before. She just seemed so different, it wasn't necessary bad.
It was like she was hiding herself this entire time and finally came out. She probably is upset with Kaisa and what she is doing. I mean I don't blame her. Miracine probably isn't a mermaid, it is not possible. Malseania is probably the one.
Wait a second! I gasped.
The cap on Mira's water exploded causing everyone but her to get soaked. How did she avoid that? Kaisa was freaking out and then when Malseania asked Miracine why did she do that, Mira true self came out again.
But then she started saying all kinds of things about Malseania. And now I'm wondering what is true and what isn't. Maybe I should just discuss this with Melody, she is way better solving puzzles and mysteries than I am.
"What....What did Mira mean by that?" Melody turned to face Malseania. She looked fearful and speechless.
Was she right? Or maybe she has been saying excuses because she can't tell the real reason is that she is a mermaid. Yeah, that is probably it.
"Something happened that I can't exactly tell you. It happened four years ago, Melody. It is nothing bad. Really!" She nervously tried to explain, "It is just I can't openly say it or something terrible will happen to me. And ever since I've been looking for someone. That is why I moved here two years ago."
I stared at her in awe. She can't exactly tell Melody because she isn't allowed to openly admit it. It happened four years ago was when she saved me.
If she says it she will turn into some sea creature. She has been looking for me ever since. It all makes sense now. It really is her. I am positive now. There is a 47.9% chance that Malseania is not Pacific. Malseania suddenly turned on her phone.
"What is it?" Melody spoke up.
"I...I have to go somewhere. Seivon... Melody, I'll see you later." She waved to us before heading out of the cafeteria too.
I couldn't help but wave back. I kept waving....and waving....and waving....and waving....and waving.....and waving....and wav-
"Seivon!" Mel exclaimed.
"Yes? Heh...heh.... I hope she come back soon...." I sighed dreamily.
"Oh please..." She rolled her eyes, "Stop being dramatic. The other day you weren't even sure if you did the right thing by being with her. You were uncertain if it was her and now you seem quite cheerful about it. Are you really Seivon? Who are you and why did you kill him?"
"Let me get this straight..." I grinned, "You think I'm someone else and I have killed him-I mean myself. And if I was someone else why would I even kill him...er myself? You have ridiculous ideas."
"Okay it is really you." She laughed dryly. "But my ideas are not as ridiculous as yours, Seivon."
"That is your opinion. But I just have to know what did you think of all of this?" I intensely ask Mel, "What did you think of those events that just happened? They are certainly unnerving."
Melody came closer and lowered her voice since Ash was right there,"If what Kaisa said is true than mermaids were involved in the sinking of those two ships. And maybe Mir- the mermaid who saved you was too." Mear?
Why did she almost say something that sounded like a shorten version of mirror?
"I...I don't know. Unless they were manipulated, but who knows with anything anymore. I just don't want to think about that." I told her quite honestly, "But if it was Malseania acted calm during the entire event. Maybe she didn't had anything to do with it."
"But Miracine might've with her sudden out burst!" She exclaimed.
"Miracine? What does she have to do with anything other than that she gave the manipulating idea." I looked at her confused.
"She is probably a mermaid." She said.
"I don't think she is one anyone. They cannot be cousins. She seems just more human if that makes sense. Like Kaisa always running away from water, but Miracine isn't. She seems normal to me." She shook her head,
"She doesn't seem that foreign or unordinary. I guarantee you she is in fact a human." Melody looked at me and laughed.
Her head went back and she pressed her hand to her forehead. She laughed out for several minutes. It was just insane.
"She isn't one, eh? Kaisa and Miracine are right...." She sighed shaking her head.
What?
I didn't understand. What are they right about.
"I finally am certain now. Malseania is her. I was so uncertain this morning, but now I know." I smiled telling her.
I thought she be happy for me, but her expression changed into something else. It was when she was annoyed or irritated with something.
She changed it too soon for me to figure anything else out, but I knew she felt that way but didn't want to say it.
"I don't know if Malseania is telling the truth. She is hiding something and it is not the mermaid thing." Melody whispered and then left me alone in the lunch room.
People have been staring at us, but it wasn't like we weren't used to it. People here always tend to stare at others listening to any drama and getting into their businesses.
I, too, got up and exited the cafeteria. Nobody was in sight. There were just emptiness in the hallways.
"Perfect...." I muttered. A sight at the backdoor caught the corner of my eye. I wide ed my eyes.
Was it? Was that? Her hair glowed in the radiant sunlight. Her lips pursed together against some object and her oceanic blue eyes closed.
She sighed to herself clasping her hands. Her hair waved along her skin. I hope I don't scare her off. If she knew what I thought of her sometimes. If I knew what thoughts filled my head.
I opened the door and I saw I wasn't hallucinating. In fact, in front of me was no other than the Kimoshei mermaid and I was going to get some answers.
She was singing a lullaby with the dolphins with her endless breath of the sea. As she sung that tone I could just feel that it brought me joy that I couldn't express. It was somehow familiar in a unique way.
"Seivon...." She had a shocked expression on her face. "You finally came." She called my name oh so slowly as she did that one day. Just as she always used to. Just as before. It was beautiful.
"Violet?" I whispered. However she turned away and refused to look at me.
Oh no, I am with a mad mermaid.
New AN//
I remember old AN 😂🤣😆
I feel like the book I was obsessed with was probably FAITH but I'm not sure. Also this chapter had so much drama and I loved it.
Happy Friday....And Happy Birthday too me and for being my birthday I have put up a birthday special along with a new chapter of The Popular, The Loner, & The Troublemaker.
You know what is funny?
When you tell absolutely no one that it is my birthday and then when people leave you to sit with a new kid at lunch, I whispered to them telling the truth and they felt like horrible friend. It was so funny I laughed like a mad person making everyone stare.
