Chapter 11: Sweet Innocence

If I wasn't there, I could have prevented so many tragedies. If I wasn't there none of them would get hurt.  If I only knew the truth about who I am, then I would understand everything way more.

But sometimes being ignorant is better than having knowledge...

"Mivo, Want to know a secret?" I grinned and put a finger up to my lips.

"Mhmmm!" He smiled cheekily.

"Promise not to tell?"

"I promise on all of my love for you, Mina." He nodded.

"I saw a humanic on a ship sailing across the sea." I whispered, "You may say they are evil, but trust me, he was not."

"What?" He looked shocked.

"And then it started to crash and a beautiful humanic was separated from his friends, so I saved him from drowning and got him to shore!" I put my hands together and grinned widely.

"Y-you...did....what?" He asked slowly, still in shock.

"Now he is reunited with his friends!  He almost died and I saved him, I'm so happy.  I done something good for someone!"  I exclaimed, oh how I couldn't stop smiling.

"Wait...where is your pendant?" He notices the heirloom that was usually on her neck missing.

"I gave it to him!  It saved him and I am going to get it back when I see him again!"

"You shouldn't of done that!  And you can't go seeing humanics!  Don't you remember what they do?"

"But he seemed nice.  Don't worry he won't tell.  Besides he see like a nice humanic child."

"Something happened as soon as you came back...it was that!  And now look where we are!"

"Above the surface?"

"A place filled with humanics doing the worse.  You are going to get your pendant and then we will return.  And now the mermaid council gonna blame you.  I don't want you to be taken away from me."

"I am not gonna leave, Mivo.  Don't worry.  Everything is fine!" I smiled innocently.

"Mina...I gave you my crown." My brother lowered his head, "I don't want you to do things like that again."

"But..." I protested, but it was no use.

"Relax sis, just don't bother with humanics.  Forget him." Mivo smiled at me and sighed, "We are the superior."

"I can't forget him..." I mumbled ,"I don't get it.  I just really-"

"You...no...no...Mina!" My brother exclaimed, "You can't?  Why not?  You have to.  He is a stupid humanic and you are a mermaid.  You can't possibly like him!" His eyes were sad.  That day was so long ago and the last conversation we had before everything fell apart.

...

"Are you paying attention?" A voice broke through my memories and thoughts.

Woah.....

"Huh?" I muttered looking up.  In front of my face was Melody's emerald eyes and honey-blonde, flowing hair.

"What's with you?  You haven't been paying attention since this morning before school." Melody states as if there wasn't a single obvious reason why.

"Could you blame me?  How dare that girl prance around like she is the sweetest person and only deserves the best.  I really don't like that girl." I told Melody, not caring at this point.
I should have started the desire process already with him.  Then he wouldn't even look at that girl the same way.

"I don't blame you.  But she looks so similar to you." Melody shrugs slyly, "Are you perhaps related?  Have you met her before?" I stared at her baffled

"What?  I never seen her in my life!" I exclaimed, raising my voice. "She is taking everything for herself.  She doesn't deserve any of it.  Just because she managed to sweet talk Seivon doesn't mean anything! And I can't stand her being with him.  He deserves way better." I shake my head,
"She is just a no one that appeared when I was sick!" I I then slammed my hands on the desk and huffed.

"If not her then who?" Mel quietly asked.  I stared at her.  I thought she knew.

"Me, of course!" I stated, "We we're getting along so well too," I sink down in sadness.

Melody made an expression I couldn't read.  "I like to apologize....for before.  I was jealous and I knew you liked him.  I also like him, but I don't want that to get between us.  You are honestly did nothing but was basically a jerk to you.  You kept on being nice to me despite that," She laughed bitterly,
"You have to deal with things and it's not our fault who we like.  He's my best friend and I..." She trailed off, "So I am going to help you catch up on what you missed these pass few days."

"So you admit you were a jerk to me?" I grinned.  Not many humans would do that.  "Really?!"  She nodded.
"Thank you.  But I kinda already figured that you didn't really like me because I was spending time with Seivon.  I understand.  If I were you I would of hated you too."

"It happened several days after you left when-" Suddenly she paused for a moment in hesitation, "Wait...do you know what happened to Seivon four years ago on the ship?" I nodded.  "He said he there was a girl that was so different from anyone.  He said she was special.  It was the only thing that helped him get through, knowing that he would see her again."
She smiled sadly, "Ashton thought it was you and said go for her." You know what I said about Ashton, well I take that back.  He is the best for thinking that.  "Then I caught him with someone...again.  A girl, dark hair and blue eyed was with him.  I thought it was you but you were sick."  I was sick?   Oh that's what I told them.

"Wait...again?" I asked her, furrowing my eyebrows.

"Umm...well...I-I saw him with someone.  Well you know, that day we were going to go to the play and he went to the teacher's classroom to apologize about for something.  That's right, you went to the restroom too..." She mumbled awkwardly,
"Well you both were taking forever, so I went to try to find him and he was kissing someone.  Typical player move.  Stupid Seivon." She explained to me, but I couldn't help but wonder, did she see me as a mermaid kiss him and realize that was a mermaid kissing him?  And if she knows he was kissing a mermaid and isn't saying anything, good for her.
I couldn't help but think that I should really hang out with Melody more.

"Oh?  What happened next?". I asked and smiled, like there was nothing wrong.

"The next day afterwords, I asked him if he was seeing you secretly.  I told him I didn't mind, since it was you and I was fine with it.  He said it wasn't you and she was someone he met a long time ago.  He seemed almost loved struck.  It wasn't him at all.  He was acting distant and not caring about us.  He barely talked or was with us at all.  He was with that girl all the time," Mel explained to me.
"Then about over a week came.  He introduced us to her.  She was so sweet and nice, but she is changing our friend.  I don't know how much Ashton and Kaisa knows.  They talked to her and seemed to like her just fine.  Of course, I was polite.  They like her and she seemed to capture their liking quite well.  The 11th day came and nothing odd happened.  Then it was the thirteenth day and I was with him in seventh period." She looked down a bit embarrassed,
"I was gonna tell him how I liked him because he was hanging out with her and something might make them get together, but I just suddenly got so afraid.  So I said something else that was on my mind.  But he interrupted our conversation when he left see her.  Then today he said she was his girlfriend.  And you know how you looked like someone stabbed you and everyone else didn't know what to say, so we smiled.  We acted nice.  Of course, we would never say it personally." She finally finished talking.  I looked at her and knew, Malseania had to go.

"I didn't know a lot could happen if I am gone for a few days.  If only I was there, then none of this would happened" I muttered sighing.

"It's not your fault." Melody tried to reassure me, "It is just unexpected and-"

"No.  It is my fault.  If I would've been here, I could've stopped this." I disagreed, shaking my head.
She wouldn't understand.  If I saw him in my mermaid form.  If I saw him as Miracine, maybe then he would realize it was me before he saw her.

"What?  How could you?" She was confused, but I couldn't told her the exact reasoning.

"Maybe if I told him certain words." I whispered.

"Maybe it is just off jealously and maybe she is really nice." Maybe she is right.  But it still doesn't mean anything.  I want to hate her.  She stole him from me.  I'm not possessive, I'm just watching out for him.
This is normal.  We are destined and he's my other half.

~M~E~R~M~A~I~D'S~~D~R~E~A~M~

I raised my hand.  Apparently the teacher allows you to speak if you do.  But why couldn't we speak regardless?  Stupid humanics with their idiotic rules.

"I am going to the restroom." Before he had anytime to say anything I got up and left the room.  Of course, like I'd ever go to the restroom here.  That was just an excuse.  Now what was that girl's named?
That's right Malseania Kawamizuno.  I need to find out more about her and the only way I can do that without anyone suspecting anything is during classes.

I make my way to the office where all of the documents of students are listed and all the information about them.
Apparently in the book, I am from a country in the Pacific called New Zealand, my parents help children who are deaf, and I have two older siblings.  A brother and a sister.  Of course those are lies Azurine came up with.

Now...M....K....

 Malseania Kawamizuno.

Asian.

Grade 11.

Age 17.  Born on August, 7 2003.

Born in Korea.

Fourth year living in New Zealand.

Only daughter.  Parents Luka Kawamizuno and Kaito Kawamizuno died in a shipwrecked and been living on her own for four years.

Good thing I didn't save themHA!

Sakura Kawamizuno is in the hospital with cancer.

Her aunt is in the hospital?  Is that a disease?  Maybe she deserves him more than me.  She has a hard life and I just jumped into his.
And if he likes her more than me, it must be why.  I bit my lip glancing at Seivon's information, but something caught my eye.  His parents names.

Ettias Rivers and Merian River died over seas.

But why do they sound so familiar?  It is probably because Seivon or one of his friends mentioned them before.

I closed the book and headed to the hallways.  Soon enough the bell ringed and classes were switching.

Oh my, the students are coming out too fast.

"Excuse me, sir." I heard a voice.  "I need to get through....Yes, excuse me, yes.  Thank you." And in front of me was that girl.  Malseania Kawamizuno.

"Oh hi...." I bit my lip.  I felt bad that I hated her, but she stole Seivon from me.  But she is so sweet and she had a bad life.
Maybe she deserves him for what she has been through.  I want to hate her, but she so sweet and a perfect girl that is hiding in the shadows of despair.

"Hello!" She smiled.  "I need to talk to you."

"You do? For what?" I laughed embarrassingly.

"You are good friends with Seivon right?  I mean he is really smart and know a lot." She looks at me and I could only hope, Oceans please tell me she doesn't need love advice.
"I heard you use to get tutored by him..." How did she know this?  Did he tell her?  "But I have to ask you do you like Seivon?"  My eyes were wide.  She figured that out.  She must be smart.

"W-what?!?!"  I bit my lip.  "You don't know what you're talking about." I firmly stated, laughing at her.

"Yes.  You.  Do." She said slowly and gave me a sharp glare.  She acted completely different now,  "I know a lot about you.  Besides, don't think you are the only one who has secrets.  I know you like him, but don't you dare try to interfere with us.  We are meant to be!  Him and I are the perfect match!  Just absolutely soul mates....Ah!" She sighed dramatically.
"And I ask for you to do something.  Back.  Off.  He is not yours.  He.  Is.  Mine." She jabbed her finger up my chest.  "And if you don't you will regret it along with loosing your friends.  I can ruin your entire life along with repetition." Who does she think she is?  She doesn't tell me what to do.  "Anyway, good bye for now!  See you later!"  She waved sweetly like she didn't threat me with anything.

What just happened?

She is really stupid if she thinks I care about repetition.

But before I had time to think she turned back around smiling."Oh and don't mention this conversation to anyone either.  And if you do I will know and you will regret it I find out that you have been saying lies to them.  I have my eyes everywhere and I can hear every word." With a click of her heels she was off and finally I was alone.

Typical "mean girl", 'Back off he is mine,' scenario from some movie.

Well, I can officially hate her now.  I can cross that off my bucket list.  She may had have a bad life, but nobody and I mean nobody tells me to stay away from Seivon.  And nobody threatens me either!  Now all I have to do is X her.  Then I can hide her body by throwing it in the ocean!
I will get her.  I will if it is the last thing I do.

           This will be so fun!
Note the sarcasm.

But seriously I need to ruin her.  She just declared war on me by saying those things.  I will get her back and nobody will know it is me.  She will show her true colors to everyone and then they will hate her.  Besides nobody will know it is me if you use a little mermaid magic.
Water doesn't just float around.  Water doesn't just attack people.  And if she does anything else maybe I can serenade, or even get Mivo involved.  He destroys humanics for fun as his personal own hobby.  It's like his own private business TM that is open 24/7.

Sea goddesses...   Humanics are so cruel and deceitful only caring about themselves and their own gains.  They cause chaos and wars.
They live on guilt and foolish emotions.  They hurt everyone and never care about a thing.  They hurt people who are close to them and they are absolutely oblivious.

              Oh how I hate humanics.

Edited AN//
Malseania is the "princess" and I changed a bit of the dialogue that Melody says to make them closer.

It's funny, I wrote this during my first year of highschool and now I'm on my last.
