CHAPTER 29

Allison's POV

I never regret my decision to be here in jail. It felt like I was used to being here. It was like I became part of this place. For one week, Harley was always visiting me. He always kept his communication with me likewise with my parents.

I sat down in front of him as I gave a smile on my face. We were here in the visiting area of the jail where tables and chairs were scattered around the place.

"You're always here. Are you not tired doing this?" I asked as I placed my hands on the table.

He shook his head and placed the lunch box on the table. "I will never be tired of you. Besides, we don't know what will happen. Maybe this will be the last time that I will visit you here everyday." I heard the sarcasm on his chuckle.

I simply planted a bitter smile on my face. He looked at me and asked, "Are you ready for tomorrow?"

I opened the lunch box and sighed. "Yes. I need to be ready. The real justice is coming for her and for the death of Levi. I hope she will be happy now."

"We're still waiting for her. We haven't seen her since last week. We didn't have any idea where she was," he explained.

I scooped the rice using the spoon and ate it while listening to him.

"Let her. She will be the new Allison after they gave the judgement with me as Maddison."

"But you don't deserve this!"

"I deserved this, Harley. She hated me since we were children. This would be my consequence after she suffered because of me. Besides, I also want Levi to be in peace," I stated after I chewed the food inside my mouth.

"But you suffered a lot more than her."

"Let's just accept it, Harley. We cannot control what life will bring to us."

"If Levi is here, he will never let that happen to you," he said as he brushed his hair in frustration.

"He's gone. He will never be here again, Harley…" I wiped the small drops of tears on my face. "That's why I'm doing this for him and for my sister."

He sighed and never said a word again until the visiting time was done.

This is my fate. This is how my life ends. I have nothing to do with it.

We both stood up on our chairs until we both walked separately. He went towards the entrance of the police station and I walked back to my prison cell.

Maddison's POV

It's been more than one week since the darkness of the room was the only thing I had in my life. The darkness that kept me from thinking too much until it felt like I was living in the nightmares.

It felt like I was a prison in my own room. No one was responding in my screams. No one was attempting to bring light.

If I only knew that Mr. Collins would do this to me, I would rather be with my family. My family who were ready to accept me anytime despite of this shit I had in my life.

I took a sip from the glass of water. For one week, they only opened the door when they would bring food for me which sometimes I did not eat. I rather die than to suffer in this kind of situation.

I wiped the tears coming from my eyes. They never stopped from streaming down every second.

I scrawled on the floor while my knees were trembling. I leaned my back as I reached the wall at the side of the door. I moved my knees up and placed my head between my knees. The tears in my eyes were still flowing as I catched my breath between my cries.

"Mom? Dad?... Allison? I-I am s-sorry," I whispered as I'm still bursting out the pain.

I wished they could hear me out. I raised my head and looked up. "Levi. I'm sorry. I know that my sorry is not enough..."

I burst out my cries again. "I know that I will not get your forgiveness anymore. It's too late for me to make the things right." I brushed my hair with my hands as I was still bursting out all the sorrows and pains.

The cold air from out of nowhere covered up my body as I wrapped my body in my own arms. Afterwards, I heard the footsteps coming towards the room.

"Did you see the news earlier? The news later will be having a live for the judgement of a woman in the board of justice."

I placed my ear on the door and kept myself to overheard their conversation.

"That's awful! It will be the first in the city to have this kind of news coverage. Who is the woman and what's her case?"

"She looked like the woman that was locked up here as far as I remembered."

I covered my mouth as my eyes were widened. Are they talking about Allison?!

"Really? Maybe it was her twin sister. So, what's her case? I will be watching it in the news later."

"It's murder. According to the news, they only decided the judgement last week because the woman gave up herself to the police and the evidence for her was enough for the board of justice."

The voices eventually vanished until I heard the last information from them. My mouth remained covered up as my tears were occupying my sight.

I roamed my eyes around the room. I only saw the messy bed, the broken things, and the reflection of myself in the mirror from the cabinet.

I should be out of here!

I only had this chance to get out from here. I only had one chance to make things right.

I stood up and walked towards the cabinet but when I almost reached and touched the cabinet, I fell down again on the floor.

'I needed to get out of here! Madi! Stood up! C'mon!'

After a second, I gave all my strength to dress up. I fixed myself both physically and emotionally. I deeply sighed in front of the mirror. I turned back and roamed around. I walked around the room until I saw the gun below the bed. The one and only gun who I needed the most.

I heard another footsteps coming. I glanced at the wall clock. It's lunch time. I checked the bullets inside the gun and I quickly ran at the back of the door.

"You can do this, Madi! For your sister and for your family!" I whispered to myself as I closed my eyes.

I held my breath as the door of the room was opened. I heard the two men walking inside. I heard the other one placed the plate on the table.

"She's not here!" the other man announced.

My heartbeats were pounding rapidly as I heard their feets rushing around the room. I glanced at them and I grinned when they were not facing towards the door.

I slowly moved and got out of my place. I looked down as I walked out of the room.

C'mon, Madi! Faster!

I froze when I heard the man called me. "Where are you going?!"

I stood straight and formed a smirk on my face. I lifted up my hand with the gun on it and  turned my back on them. I quickly shot them both and I ran away.

I made a large footsteps away from the room as my heart was beating rapidly. Every corner of the place seemed tiny as I kept my feet from running.

I stopped for a moment when I got stuck between the two sides of the way. I looked to the left and I only saw the darkness. I turned my eyes on the right and I could see an ample light outside.

"She's running away! Go! Catch her now!"

I looked back when I heard the yells and screams from the man until I realized that there were two men at my back who kept on running to catch me.

I threw a gunshots on them before I ran on the right side but they were quick to abide by it.

I kept on running. I kept my sight towards the light but I didn't know where I could go out in this place. I placed my hands on my ears when I heard gunshots from them. Sh*t!

Mom! Dad! Allison! I'll be there! I promised!

I followed the light and I never turned back to the darkness. My eyes widened when I realized where I was going. The garage area! I'm almost there!

I ran side by side as the men kept on following me and they made another gunshots on me.

I formed a huge smile when I saw the different cars on my side. I looked back for the last time and clicked the gun with the last bullet inside.

But before I could finally go away from this place, another gunshot was thrown over me. I felt the weakness of my body until I saw myself laying on the ground.

"You're too late, Maddison. Too late to correct all your mistakes," Mr. Collins stated and the sound of a gunshot echoed in the whole parking lot.
