CHAPTER 19

Allison's POV

"Maddison?!"

Her phone almost fell down as she saw me in front of her. Her eyes widened for a moment then she looked down and avoided my glare.

"What are you doing here?" We both asked each other unexpectedly.

I cleared my throat and placed my hand in my pocket. "Answer me. What are you doing here?" I asked with authority.

"I'm talking to my friend." She turned back her eyes on me and showed a smile on her face.

"What about you, Ali? What are you doing here?"

I did not answer her question but I stayed my eyes focus on her. "Do you have a friend? Who?" I asked again instead.

"Yes, why would not?" She raised her eyebrow.

I grinned. "I'm only asking, Madi. By the way, I came here to drink but I heard you talking to someone." I looked at her maliciously.

"It's just my friend, Ali. You don't have to worry," she answered. She formed a smile and walked out of our place.

I deeply sighed and walked back to the technological room. I was occupied in my thoughts the whole time. Doubts and curiosity about her were overflowing in my mind. I did not know her well but she's my sister. I did not not know her past but she's my family.

Right. I should trust her. I should know her well. It's not the right time to doubt someone because we were all in danger.

*****

The next day.

I quickly took my bath in my apartment while Madi was in my room. She was also preparing for our work today. Ever since she became an official member, she stayed here in my apartment. Some of her things were also here. I've nothing to do with it because she's my sister.

"I'm done," she said as I entered the bedroom.

"Okay. I'll be quick."

She went downstairs and waited for me until I was finished. Minutes had passed when I finished preparing. I took my phone from the bed then went out of the bedroom.

After I closed the door, I glanced at Madi downstairs. She was seriously making text messages on the phone. I looked away as she turned her eyes above her.

I've been observing her since then. Her actions and words were the first thing I needed to observe. Fortunately, there was nothing suspicious after I caught her talking on the phone.

"Let's go," I invited as I went downstairs and stood in the doorway.

She stood up from the chair and she walked with me up to the association building.

Throughout our walk, no one was saying a word. We were both silent not until when my phone rang. I took it from the pocket and answered the call.

"Hello?"

A terrifying laugh occupied my ears. "You messed up with the wrong person, Ali."

Shit! "Who are you?!" I exclaimed. Another horrible laugh filled my ear.

"You want justice, right?! Then I'll give you real justice!"

The call ended. I turned my widen eyes to Madi and her eyes were also questioning me.

"Who's that?!"

"The manipulator," I answered. I looked back to the phone and rushed myself to call back the number.

While we were rushing ourselves to walk up to the association, I frustratedly clicked the end button of the call. It was unreachable. The hell!

As we entered the building, I quickly went first to the tech-room.

"Tania!" I called but the room was filled with no one.

I rushed myself to go to the operation room. As I took a deep breath after I opened the door, I saw the members. They were sitting on their chairs while Boss Rom was in the center.

Madi was also sitting beside Levi. I turned my eyes to Tania.

"The manipulator called me. I need someone to track the phone number."

Widened eyes showed on their faces as I looked at them one by one. Boss Rom's confused face was also looking at me.

"C'mon! Tania! Track the phone number before we start for the meeting!"

Levi stood up from his chair as Tania went in my place. She took my phone and went back to the tech-room. I turned my eyes to Levi after Tania left.

"Calm down, Ali." He put his hand on my shoulder and dragged me to my chair.

"How can I calm down?! We were supposed to catch that person!" I hissed and inhale my breath in the air after he let me sit on the chair. He also sat down beside me and Madi.

"Allison," Boss Rom called in authority. I took a deep breath again as I closed my eyes.

"Alright." I opened my eyes after a few seconds and looked at Boss Rom.

"I have an announcement later about the manipulator," he mentioned.

My eyebrows suddenly met. "What do you mean?"

All our heads turned back when the door of the operation room opened.

"It was a fake and unregistered number so I couldn't trace it," Tania explained as she entered inside.

I clenched my jaw and tightly closed my palm. The hell with that manipulator!

"Okay. Let's start the meeting," Boss Rom said.

All eyes were focused on the big screen after we all settled down. "Some of our members were already hired as bouncers in the gumbling company. We already got an easy connection to the place," Boss Rom explained.

Levi stood up again and walked in front. "We need to prepare ourselves. There are chances that some of us would be injured so we need to prevent it."

Everyone in the operating room agreed. "What's plan?" I asked, crossing my arms under my chest.

He smirked. "We will play a game for our mission."

"A game?" Confusion showed on my face likewise with the other members.

"Yeah. Gambling is a game. It's either you win or lose. Our goal is to win this mission."

I nodded. "Right. Vigilantes! Let's win this mission, okay?!"

Everyone agreed. I grinned. After this mission, I would focus with my parents and Ashley's brother. I couldn't take it so long to find them. It felt like I'm running out of time.

I came back from my thoughts after someone asked Levi, "When will be our target day?"

"Next week. You still have a week to prepare yourselves."

"Is that it? Are we all clear?" Boss Rom asked when Levi sat down again on his chair.

"Yes, Boss," they replied in unison.

He turned off the big screen and took the white folder on his side table. He browsed the files inside of it and closed it again after he looked at me.

"It's time for the announcement. Are you ready, Allison?"

I nodded even if I was making a confused look at him. I did not have any idea about they would announce but probably it's about the manipulator.

"As you said earlier, the manipulator behind this called you…" he started.

"Yes. Does it have a connection with your announcement?" I asked as I put my pointing finger on my lips and placed my elbow on the table.

"Yes. Before he called, we'd already found him. We've already known him."

I couldn't help not to widen my eyes. This time it was more wide than earlier. From a normal heartbeat, it was beating so fast right now until my palm eventually closed tightly.

"Y-You already f-found him?" I assured him. Boss Rom nodded and he throwed the folder in front of me.

I quickly leaned backward and moved away from my hands on the table. I stared at the folder for a moment.

"Open it and you will find out."

With the slightly open mouth on my face, I turned my eyes to Levi. He was also looking at the folder until his eyes turned on me.

"You know this?" I asked while pointing to the folder in front of me.

He nodded. "Boss Rom told us earlier."

"Why didn't you tell me earlier?!"

He scratched his head and his lips formed a smirk. "Just open it, Ali."

I took a deep breath to control the fast heartbeats happening in my chest. I looked at the folder and I slowly moved my hands to hold it. My hands were shaking as I held and opened the folder.

Pictures. There were pictures in the folder. I held all of it and scanned one by one. My eyes widened again as I saw the man behind those pictures.

There was a picture of him in a house while talking to a businessman. Another picture of him in the cemetery. Another picture of him outside a white car.

Even if my hands were shaking, I continued to look the evidences about him and his actions. The hell! This was not true! He couldn't do this to me! A drop of tears flowed in  my eyes. I throwed the folder again and quickly wiped my tears so they would not see it.

"That's not true!"

Boss Rom sighed. "The investigator was the one who found out, Ali."

Possibilities were occupying my mind. Hatred was blooming in my heart. I couldn't believe that he could do this to me. Maybe, I didn't know him well. The hell with him!

I stood up and held the folder again. I quickly went out of the room and shut the door with all my strength.

"Ali!" Levi called as I walked up to the outside of the building.

"Don't follow me, Levi. I will handle him," I said in authority.

I didn't hear his voice again until I got inside the car. I placed the folder on the other chair in front and I drove the car as fast as I could.

How could he do this to me?! Too many questions were invading my mind. The anger inside of me was exploding until the tears streamed down again.

I wiped it again as I parked the car in front of our house. I quickly walked in the gate and opened it with all my power. I slammed the door and screamed outside of our house.

"Harley?!" I called out once again while I'm holding my gun at my back.

He showed up from the garden with the widened eyes on his face. "Ali! You did not tell me that you will come home."

I looked at him with all my anger on my face. And with all my strength, I showed up my gun and pointed out on him. My eyes were squinting and the steam on my ears were coming out in anger.

He quickly raised his hands and his eyes were shocked. "What is this all about, Ali?  Put down your gun."

I moved closer likewise with the gun on my hands. "Why, Harley?! Why did you betray me?!"
