CHAPTER 16
Levi's POV
"Harley!" She called out as she saw the man, waiting for her outside the car.
I stayed in my place and I did not leave them. I knew him. He's the jail man that Ali met in prison. I didn't expect that they were seeing each other.
Ali seemed happy as she genuinely smiled back on the man. They seemed good together. Did he already court my partner? Did Ali give her heart to him?
Damn, Levi! What are you thinking?! You're just a partner in work!
I could not take this! I closed my palm and badly looked at them with the jaw clenched on my face.
The man glanced at me. He arched his eyebrow and said, "Hey, Bro! Are you alright?"
Ali seemed shocked as she saw me still standing in my place. I gave her a glare look. She looked away.
I turned my eyes back to the man. "It's alright! You're Harley, right? By the way, I'm Levi," I introduced then saluted him.
He also made a salute on me. "Nice to meet you, Bro!"
I nodded then looked back again on Ali while clenching my fist.
"You didn't tell me that you already had a relationship with someone from jail," I stated then smirked at her.
She looked away and I didn't give a look to Harley again. I turned my back on them and walked out.
As I entered the building, I glanced at Madi and I saw that she's looking at Ali and Harley. I walked beside her. Her eyes were focused on the two but not until I came beside her.
"Why are you looking at them?" I asked without turning my eyes from where she was looking.
"They seemed to have a good relationship, right?" She turned her eyes on me.
"No! They are just friends." Convincing myself to think that they were not really in a relationship.
"Just like her feelings for you?" I saw her face was smirking on me.
I was convinced now that they were twins. I also smirked on her. "She's my friend and I'm her Vigilante partner. Nothing else."
She shook her head. "Really? You looked jealous when the man came." She teased.
"It's none of your business. After all we're not friends, Maddison," I stated.
"After what happened with the both of us? You're kidding me, Levi." She chuckled.
Maddison was really weird. Her actions and treatments were sometimes unpredictable.
"Don't assume that much, Madi. What happened between us was a mistake. I don't really like you after all. I'm just doing a favor for Ali."
I did not let her speak again and I left her with all my strength. I did not want to hurt her but that's all I could do. She was Ali's sister but I could only give her a good treatment.
I entered the technological room without minding the presence of the team and did my everyday work here.
*****
Days had been passed and I treated the twins the way they wanted. We also continued our work together as Vigilante partner. Throughout the week, we had been busy tracking some wealthy people for our next mission.
I was here at my computer desk right now. I was secretly tracking and investigating the identity of Madi. I knew that the results of the DNA were real but I still had doubts about it.
"Levi," someone called. That voice was very familiar. I quickly closed the search tab and turned my back on her.
"Yes, Ali?" I formally asked.
"C-Can we talk?" She asked, avoiding my gaze on her.
I smiled a bit. "Sure. About what? The next mission?"
She shook her head that caused me to raise my eyebrow at her. Meanwhile, I turned my eyes again on the computer and turned it off.
"About what, Ali?" I asked again.
I heard her deep sigh. "Just follow me," she ordered.
She quickly turned her back and walked out from the technological room. I sighed and stood up. I fixed my shirt and brushed my hair with my hands before I followed her.
I walked upstairs as she was leading the way. She was not giving a word until she opened the door of the training ground. She went straight to the cabinet and got a gun from it. I also went inside and waited for her words.
Meanwhile, she walked in the center and pointed out the gun on the metal human boards. She shot all the boards until she was contented. I stared only at her until she finished what she was doing.
"How are you?" She suddenly asked while cleaning up the gun she used.
"I'm good."
She walked back to the cabinet and put the gun back to it.
"Harley and I are not in a relationship," she stated as she looked at me directly in the eyes.
"Okay. Why are you telling me right now after a week of not saying a word with me?"
She grinned. I miss that expression!
"Because you're my Vigilante partner," she answered.
"Yeah. Just a Vigilante partner," I lazily stated.
"I mean. I also want to clear my name with you. I only have time for us so we could talk without hurting each other," she explained.
"Don't mind it. It's not important."
"But you're important, Levi."
I smirked then looked away on her. I walked from where I stood up to the glass window of the training ground. I opened it and looked outside. I heard her footsteps that followed me to my place.
"If I am important to you, could you please stop seeing that man?" I asked unconsciously. I knew this was the most selfish thing that I asked a person, especially her.
The confusion showed on her face then her lips turned into grin. "You're jealous, right?"
"Yes."
Short but meaningful. I saw how her eyes widened and didn't expect what I answered. She also turned her eyes outside while her hands were placed on the window.
"You're the only woman that I have in my life, Ali. I don't want someone who wants to get you from me."
"No one owns me, Levi."
"But you have a different approach with the both of us. You looked happy with him. I knew it and it pained me to see it in yourself," I ranted as I tried to control not to stream down the emotion on my face.
She looked down. "I'm sorry. I don't want to hurt anyone with my actions. I'm sorry."
I could hear the pain in her voice. Did I hurt her with my words? I scratched my head and deeply sighed on air.
I lifted up my hand and placed it on her shoulder. She looked up on me and turned her eyes on her shoulder. I pulled her closer to me using my hand.
"It's okay. I just wanted to fulfill my promise to you," I assured her then we both remained silent. I enjoyed this moment with her. The other side of her was one of the most enjoyable things about her.
Few minutes later, I stayed my hand on her shoulder until the door of the training ground opened. I and Ali turned our eyes to the door. Maddison showed up as her eyes looked shocked when she saw us.
Her expression quickly changed. "Ali! Levi! You were here! I've been looking for you for how many minutes!"
Ali let go of my hand on her shoulder. "I'll go ahead." She looked at me. "Continue to train her now, Levi," she added.
"What?"
"I have something to do," she stated.
She walked out from me and stopped when she reached the place of Madi. She tapped the shoulder of her sister and I saw that she showed a small smile on her face. They both nodded with each other then I left with Madi without her.
*****
The next day, we had an early meeting together with Boss Rom and some investigators. Ali was also in front and she was talking with the investigators. I had no idea what the meeting was all about because I had no proper communication with Ali since she left me with Madi.
"Good morning, Vigilantes," the investigator greeted. We all greeted and saluted him. Ali sat down in the front seat while Madi was beside my seat.
"As per Boss Rom, from now on you should add to your protective gear the hidden camera so we can survey your actions all the time."
My eyebrows met in confusion. "Why do we need to do it, Sir?" I asked.
"It's for your safety because Miss Ali was almost shot before," he answered.
"What?!" I punched the table with both of my hands.
"Calm down, Levi. Sit down," Ali ordered.
I followed her and I never said a word again when the meeting continued. We also talked about our big mission for this month. The investigators left when they finished to do their job for us.
Meanwhile, in the middle of the discussion, a phone call sound occupied the whole meeting place.
Ali rushed herself to get her phone and walked out of the meeting place. Boss Rom allowed her but she did not come back until the meeting was done.
I quickly went out after Boss Rom dismissed the meeting. I searched for her in the building and after a few minutes I found her outside and she was with the man who visited her before. Harley.
I stared at both of them. Her eyes were happy as she talked to Harley.
I felt the presence of someone while I was still staring at them.
"She is happy with him not with you, Levi."
I turned my eyes to the person who spoke up. I grinned as I saw Madi beside me.
"Are you following me or Ali?"
She rolled her eyes and crossed her arms. "You. Of course."
"Why? Why are you pushing me away from her?!" I asked as I closed the fist of my palm.
She bit her lips and looked down while she remained silent.
"Madi? Tell me!"
She deeply sighed. "Well, I like you, Levi."
My eyes widened as I stared at her. "What?!"
She sighed again. "I said I like you."
Damn! What's going on with this lady?! She looked up when I did not respond to what she said.
"I can give the attention that Ali couldn't give to you. The love and happiness that she can't give back. I can do it, Levi," she sincerely confessed as she moved closer to me.
I slightly moved away from her. "Stop it, Madi."
"But…"
"I don't like you, Madi. I really do not. Forget the thing that happened between us. You're just a mistake."
