Chapter 7: Karma

True to her word, (Y/N) never returned to U.A. after that. Nor did she appear in any other school in the country. Once they had returned to the bus they found her things gone. And once they got back to the school her motorcycle was gone as well. The staff asked Izuku where she was and he told them about what she had told him. Immediately they got to work looking for her address. But once they arrived they found out from (Y/N)'s mother that (Y/N) hadn't been home in months. Ten months, to be precise. They searched her room to barely find anything worth noting. Except for a pile of ashes on the ground which they determined was months old. Along with some dusty crumpled up paper in the trash can. Each appearing to be a letter to the 'D.D.V'. But most words were either scratched out or the letter was left half finished. The heroes didn't understand who the D.D.V. was. They were equally as confused, so they looked to Izuku for any kind of answer. Only to get a simple 'that must be the 'them and they' she mentioned'. The entire situation had broken the young boy. He missed his best friend. And for the next few school days he was down. And barley responded to anything. Until a letter came for him in the mail. Signed by (Y/N) herself. He had taken the letter to the staff to see if they could make anything of it. But once they read it they just sighed. They couldn't do much with it. It was just a letter to Izuku from (Y/N), a small, how are you doing, update letter.

Dear Izuku,

I'm sorry for how I was acting at the USJ and if it seemed a little harsh. Being honest, I never wanted to leave you either. And I'm sorry if it's caused you to be down lately. I miss you. I really do. But something tells me we aren't going to meet in person anytime soon. So I'm going to try and write to you as often as I can! Might be a little hard if missing person reports start getting filed.... Oh well! I'll find a way! Cuz I ain't letting you forget me, even if I said it may be for the best or if it seems a little selfish on my part. Point is I'm going to try and let you know how I'm doing as often as I can. After I came back Calamity decided to up my training and keep me out of as many schools as possible. I got scolded....a lot. No surprise there, I was a little reckless. But they were sympathetic. Since they know I won't be able to talk to you anymore face to face. So, enough about me. How are you doing? Terrible, I'm assuming. I know you Izuchan. You're probably really upset. And I'm sorry about that. But remember, chin up. Stay calm, stay strong, stay vigilant. Dude, the sports festival is coming up. I'll be watching it for sure! I look forward to seeing you or someone else kick Bakugo's a*s. Show em' what you've got Izuchan! Oh! And I'm getting some costume upgrades! We haven't decided how much we're going to change and/or add. But I am getting an upgrade. I'll make sure to write you about it once it's finished. Maybe I'll send some sketches? Probably not. Calamity probably won't allow it. Oops. I'm running out of room. Later Izuchan. Remember, chin f*cking up. Smile brightly, show the world who the next Number 1 is going to be!

-(Y/N)

She did continue to write Izuku as the years passed. Granted the letters were never frequent. But it always brighten Izuku's mood to see that his friend hadn't changed at all no matter how much time had passed. She didn't send any sketches of her new costume. But she did discribe the improvements she made. And since Izuku had seen her previous costume, he was able to imagine what she looked like now. He even found himself sketching what she may have looked like. (Y/N) had completely disappeared off the map. All traces of her had disappeared over the years, besides memories shared between classmates. Bakugo and Izuku were the only ones who knew a lot about the female. Izuku more so. Ashido however, claimed to have known her a little. Telling the others how she had saved her during the entrance exams.

Said female had been training nonstop since the incident. Despite taking little damage, (Y/N) knew she needed to get stronger. So she did. The Vigilante known only as Karma had gotten more frequent as the years progressed. Occasionally crashing a few of the League of Villains' plans. The pesky fox had been a thorn in Shigaraki's side for years. And as the League grew, so did the danger of Karma. The League itself was huge now. Having branches all over the world, and controlling most underground activity. But, a new villain had surfaced in that time. A fearsome leader that controlled anything underground if it wasn't already in the League's power. And even so this villain ended up stealing some of the League's territory. So Shigaraki was clearly p*ssed off. Having two foxes ruining his plans. Between the villain only known as Nightfire, and Karma, most villains had become too scared to act. Either falling under Nightfire's leadership, or sticking to the shadows to avoid the brutal vigilante. (Y/N) had heard plenty of rumors about Nightfire. And she wasn't worried. She was confident in Violet and Crimson's training. Despite being Quirkless she didn't think she'd lose to him. She wasn't scared of some 'Phantom' villain that she hadn't see. Nightfire had heard of Karma. He wasn't concerned. Knowing that through her patterns they'd only fight if they happened across eachother. And she knew he was a villain. He was, however, interested in the Vigilante. Questioning who she was, and what she was like. Little did both of them know, they were about to meet.

~Karma's POV~

I hopped over rooftops with Nova in toe. We stopped on top of an office building. I let my gaze fly over the city, my headset enhancing my vision. "Quiet night." Nova commented, sitting next to me. I rolled my eyes a little. "Hush. Anything could happen." I hissed. She smiled, playfully punching my shoulder. "Will you relax? Geez. You're way to uptight these days Karma." Nova said. I was silent before sighing and standing up. "Head back to headquarters." I growled. Nova tilted her head at me. "But protocol states-." "Don't care. Nothing has happened in weeks. I'll be fine. You head back to report to the others." I said. Nova sighed in annoyance. "(Y/N), you know-." "That I'm important and you can't afford to lose me, yada, yada, etc, etc. I get it. But I'll be fine. There isn't anything out and about that I can't handle. And if something does go wrong I'll call you, alright?" I questioned with a smile. It was silent before Nova sighed. "I don't like this." She grumbled. "Nova. Look me in the eye." I said. She did so. "I'll be fine. I promise." I insisted. She stared at me for a long time before pulling out a coin. She flicked it into the air. "Heads." She called. "Tails." I responded. She caught the coin and then revealed it. "Tails." I confirmed. Nova sighed and stood up. "Fine. Good luck." She said before snapping her fingers and teleporting off. I stood alone on the building, breathing in the night air before sighing out slowly with a smile. The bustle of city night life filling my ears. I jumped to the next building, feeling the wind tear at my hood and scarf. I ran across the buildings with a wide smile jumping with laughter as I switched from building to building. Another quiet night, another long run. That had become my routine. I stopped to scan a few alleys for suspicious activity but nothing caught my eye. Nothing out of the ordinary. I sighed a little, scanning yet another alley. Booooored. I thought in slight annoyance. That's when I heard something. A trashcan being knocked over and a small curse. I didn't react at first, knowing that it could've just been someone being clumsy. That is until a man walked into the alley. He looked to be about my age, wearing full black under a black trench coat. I narrowed my eyes a little. He had evenly split hair. One half red, the other white. He looked a little suspicious in my eyes. Or maybe that was just wishful thinking? Either way I ended up tailing him for a little. Once he had exited the other side of the alley, I dropped down silently and followed him. I peered around the corner to see him walking down the mostly empty side walk. Sticking to the shadows, and ducking behind something if he looked behind him, I was able to make a few observations.

One being that he was on high alert. He made many twists and turns, doubling back or going in circles. Clearly he was making sure to not be followed. Since normal tails would have lost him or given up at that point. But his heart rate was otherwise calm, and steady. Only spiking if he scanned the area thinking he heard something. Two, that he was armed. Judging from the fact that he kept one hand in his pocket at all times, and that whenever he turned around he seemed to halfway draw something out. He was either packing a gun, or carrying a knife. And three, that he was meeting someone. He kept pulling out his phone, or checking his watch. On occasion speeding up, or slowing down accordingly. As if he was debating on showing up early, or being on time. My assumptions could be entirely wrong. But my gut told me otherwise. And Crimson told me to trust my gut at all times. Finally, he entered an alleyway. And he waited. I climbed the building silently to get an overhead view. Minutes ticked by slowly, the tension in the air thick. Finally another figure clad in black approached the man. This one looked a little older. Possibly two or five years older than the first man. This one had black hair, and a face that I know I had seen on the news before. Covered in patches of burns. Bright neon blue eyes standing out against the darker colors. They exchanged greetings in hushed whispers, I strained my hearing in order to listen in.

"And you're sure you weren't followed?" The raven asked. The younger man shook his head, running a hand through his hair. "I took all possible routes and did many things to shake any tails. I'm positive." He confirmed. The raven snorted a little before handing a small notebook to him. "All you need to know about the League's upcoming plans are written down there. Shigaraki isn't being cautious enough. And the power scuffles are getting worse. Many are thinking of leaving." The raven growled. My eyes widened. Shigaraki? League? As in League of Villains? I thought. My eyes narrowed slightly on the two males as the younger took the notebook and thanked the raven. What does he have to do with the League? I thought, my eyes focusing on the man I was following. Eventually the raven left as did the man with evenly split hair. I tailed my original target, following him until he went into another alley. Another meeting? I thought, cautiously walking in with the shadows, my black suit blending in perfectly. My eyes widened in shock, not finding him anywhere. "Where the f*ck?" I questioned, poking my head out of the darkness. That's when I felt something cold and sharp press against my neck. S*it. It's a knife. I thought. "Who are you? Are you with the League of Villains? Don't bother lying. My Quirk let's me know if you're lying or not." I turned my head slightly to meet my target's eyes. Heterochromia. I observed. One eye a bright neon blue, the other, a light grey color. I glared at him viciously, trying to think of an excuse, or a story. But what if he's telling the truth and his Quirk can tell him if I'm lying? I thought. I don't think I can get myself out of this situation. I'm in uniform. If he doesn't piece it together yet, he will soon. With that thought in mind, I growled a little. In the clutches, of a possible villain.
