INTRODUCTION:

" THE SOUL'S JOY LIES IN DOING."

There had always been something fascinating about New York. Maybe it was the way the ocean reached out and offered its endless skyline to the city or the never ending chaos that reigned over The Times Square and the city's maze-like streets.

New York was bright and alive as it had always been yet the people who had been there for a certain amount of time naturally became incapable of acknowledging the glory of it. People got used to any and everything so quickly that everything after a while got to the point of being just another pitstop on the day.

Those who had the oppourtunity and the courage to challenge the monotone life they had created for themselves, made a couple adjustments in their life and thought they had stepped out of the cruel cycle they were in, when in reality they had just stepped into another. Another cycle that started with the excitement of the unknown and ended with the cruel numbness of not even knowing why you started in the first place.

" AS PEOPLE SPIN FASTER AND FASTER IN THE PURSUIT OF MERELY PERSONAL HAPPINESS,
THEY BECOME EXHAUSTED IN THE FUTILE EFFORT OF CHASING THEMSELVES."

«CHARACTERS»

Rey Kenobi had found the excitement she seeked at bringing the mystery of the past to back the surface for so long, after graduating from NYU with a degree in archeology and anthropology yet she soon realized she wanted to leave her own mark to the world instead of trying to understand the marks people of the had left.

Ben Solo, a man who had believed all his life, in order to be happy one had to be impeccable, flawless. He has always had everything a man like him could ask for; cars, women and a smile that could get anyone to do anything. Not letting the legacy of his family dictate the path he has always been determined to follow. He is still not sure what he's looking for in life but it sure is crystal clear it's not in a gray office nor behind a desk.

Poe Dameron have always had been Rey's only family ever since they could both remember. After Rey lost her parents in a car accident, Damerons had decided to give her somewhere to call home. But since both Layla and Josh Dameron are pilots, usually the two siblings had to take care of one another in their elders' absence which has caused a life long bound between the two.

Zori Bliss, a young, confident woman who works at Ben's studio during the day and becomes seventeen again in the night time. She and Ben have had a brief affair in the past but both realized they were meant to be bestfriends instead of being in a romantic relationship. She became his rock and the only person he could trust about his creative ideals and vision and he became the big brother she has never had.

WHITE LINES

The colour white could be considered controversial since no one would actually be able to tell if it was really blank or just so full of colour that the colours mixed in, overflowed. Well, that wouldn't exactly be the thought process of a New Yorker though because apparently Ben Solo didn't seem to be impressed by the white lines which were painted randomly on the dark blue coated canvas. He sighed in disappoitment and placed the camera back to its bag that hung over his shoulder, accepting the fact that nothing in this gallery was worth spending a shot on. A perfectionist he was, who thought even though there were hundreads of shots he took in day which no one would ever see, they still had to be worthy of his own attention.

He checked the silver rolex on his wrist and picked his eyes up back to where the white lines stood. No. There was still nothing about the pure white lines that made a slight shift in his emotions.

"You have been standing in front of that for quite the time." A voice worded, "If you hadn't been standing there for that long of a time, I would have thought, you think, it really isn't worthy of your attention."

Ben could not tell if the young woman was being sarcastic or if she was just really good at examining people so he let her continue without even so much of an effort to turn his head slightly to the right to take a look at the face behind the voice. Yet the soft voice of the woman stood silent, almost as if she wanted him to voice his own opinion. It wasn't really surprising though, wasn't that how conversations worked? "Don't you think it's a little- a little too boring?"

"Pardon me? I couldn't catch that." The soft voice was now clearly surprised by his brutal honesty and a little unsure if she had heard his statement correctly. "Yeah? Me neither. I've been looking at this for ten minutes now and I still am unable to catch the meaning behind it." He continued. "It's kind of like the artist just painted a few strokes, got the canvas in an expensive frame just so he could sell the piece three times the price of the framing."

"Six times." She chuckled and a playful smirk appeared on Ben's lips, maybe he had found something worthy of his attention after all. He slightly turned his head to right and looked at her over his shoulder, only to find her hazel orbs staring right back at him. He realized once his eyes trailed over her features, she had the exact same face he had been imagining for the young, joyful voice he had been speaking to for the past few minutes; sunkissed skin, hair that delicately brushed over her shoulders and hazel orbs that were just like his.

"Ben." He introduced himself quickly. But she just chuckled as she shook her head in a playful disapprovement and placed a hand on his shoulder before locking her eyes back to his. "Rey." The name sounded familiar but he couldn't quite make it out. "Rey Kenobi." She completed with another dazzling smile but before Ben could even gather up a few words to reply, he felt her pat on his shoulder and slide right beside himself, her shoulder brushing up against his as she walked to greet a few people who had just entered the gallery.

As the realization hit him, he turned back to the canvas on the wall. "Rey Kenobi." The name written below the canvas full of white 'boring' lines.
