45.

In a dark, cold room. He sat still on her soft leather chair. His nose twitching as he breathed into her lingering smell.Tilting his head he waited for her to walk into the room, long jet black curls kissing his forehead as he gazed at the entrance of the room. His ears perked up listening to the soft footsteps nearing the room.

Stepping inside her room with wet hairs and only in white shirt, she sighed and breathed softly. The hem of it grazing her mid thighs. Her eyes stuck on her neatly trimmed nails making her proud of her own hygiene.

Sensing a presence in a room, she glanced up from her nails and a breath got stuck in her throat as she froze. A volcano of goosebumps passed over her arms, cold shiver chilled her spine as the intensity of his gaze grew stronger.

His once bright yellow sandy eyes appeared black now. Darker than yellow.

His presence scared her. She sharply suck in a breath, so sharply that the hollow of her neck was visible to him.

He stood up leaving the chair behind slowly walked near her. He stopped just a mere an inch away from her. Her fresh body wash scent lingering in air around them, making their hearts beat wildly, maybe it was the closeness they were breathing from.

"What are you doing here?" She questioned in a whisper, arching her neck back. Giving him a good view of her dusky glowing skin under the shirt.
His eyes went to her and then to her eyes. She focused on his appearance. He didn't wore keffiyeh. Moreover, he looked freshly showered. Her eyes went to the shirt he was wearing. It was of Marwan, her brother. His appearance made it perfectly clear that he showered in her house, in one of the room, in Marwan's room.

"Do you really don't know hy I am here?" He questioned leaning on her face.

Her eyes went to his lips and then back to his eyes.

She gasped when suddenly she was pulled into his chest. His arm around her waist made the place grow hotter by each passing second. Her fingers tingled as she tried to flex them on his arms, but then decided against it. Her core grew hotter making her clench her thighs, tightly as she wriggled in his arms.

Closing her eyes she tried breath normally, but his proximity didn't even help her a bit.

His knuckles grazed her cheek making her breath hitch and he chuckled.

His throaty chuckle sending shivers down her spine.

"Breath, Layla." He muttered leaning his forehead on hers making her heave deep and sharp breath.

"I- I am," she swallowed trying to form the words correctly making him amuse.

"I am trying." She whispered heavily, her fingers finally clutching his arms in a tight grip making him smile.

A big wide smile.

Before he could say anything, someone knocked on the door breaking  their moment. Layla felt cold when slipped away his arms from her waist and went to answer the door. She looked at him walking to the door, it felt like they were real.

It was, but Layla felt all the thoughts crashing against each other. Soon, he will be own his way when this all will get over.

Blue engulfed her heart.

"We got no time to waste." Nazreena's voice echoed in the room and Layla hastily walked towards her cupboard and took out her sweat shirt and pants and walked back into the bathroom. She tried to pull all the thoughts out of her mind, but it wasn't enough. They just kept increasing, by each passing second.

"I don't want lose this." It was after so long she felt full of life.

"Layla," she combed her hair with her fingers on the call and closed her eyes tightly. Theoment was slipping out of her hands and she couldn't control.

Walking out of the bathroom, she slipped into her Abaya, sadness palpable in her eyes.

"Are you okay?" He asked raising his one eyebrow and tightening his keffiyeh around his face.
"All cool." She let out a heavy breath and plopped on the bed.

"I just don't want to lose this moment. I know I am acting like a selfish person, right now. But it has been really long since I felt full of life." She committed her thoughts. Her eyes casted down on her lap as she gazed into oblivion. She never though about sharing something so intimate, like thoughts with Baraq and now she just did it.

Shared them with him, because he was the only one who occupied her thoughts. Every now and then she thought about him, what if she met him before all this, things have been turned out little good then.

"It's okay to be selfish, and trust me. I never wanted to do this, it is just,-" her breath got stuck on the words he said.

He never wanted to this.

Then, why?

Why did he stepped up for it?

"You like your family too much to lose them, and I couldn’t see you wailing like that."

Silence engulfed them as he admitted the truth.

"You really hurt my ears while crying so much." He winced rubbing his ears, making her jaw drop to the ground. Mirth shone on his eyes making her eyes narrow.

He was joking.
"You!" Wideninv her eyes she exclaimed and threw the pillow at him, which he skilfully dodged away.

"Yes, thank you!"

"We must go, now!" Nazreena yelled from outside making their smile break apart as seriousness coiled around their shoulders making them stiff and breath out heavily. Reality fell heavy on their shoulders.

Layla stood up and and Baraq pushed his hand infront of her, "to the family we are going to found." He announced referring to her.

Her brown eyes stuck on his golden ones, as she kept her small hand in his and said, "to the family we found." Her eyes now moved on their joined hand as she referred the words to him. She wouldn't admit this out loud, because of the lack of courage she swam in, but she was glad she had him by her side.

Her new family.

Him.
