43.

Layla and Baraq were back now. On another meeting with Darwish they realised that Qamaristan, is now in Iraq. But no huma has any right to go there, as it looks like an abandoned area for them.

"May the God be pleased on whatever you are doing. May He help you put if your miseries." Darwish blessed them amd moved to another room.

They celebrated the news with a hug. Layla hugged everyone one by one. Unknowing she engulfed Baraq's buff in her lean arms, her arms going around his neck making him stiffen as she waited for her to realise what she did. Heat poodles in her stomach, as she realised what she did. Her eyes widening as she slowly backed herself. Her hanging feet, now down on the ground as she fixed herself and looked here and there to erase the sudden heat.

Nazreena's eyes gleamed with mischief as she teased her with her eyebrows dancing suggestively. Hafsa clapped her back making her huff aloud on their teasing while Baraq turned around and cleared his throat and announcing, "Let's go to that man."

Layla felt the wind kiss her cheek as they made to that old man's little. They all entered alley and Layla felt happier by each passing second. The regret of not having her family with her filled in her guts twisting it out, but she ignored it and caressed her arms. It has been two years since she went out of her hometown and now  she was here continents away from the place.

Anxious and excitement filled her heart to brim as she roed her eyes around everywhere.

"Layla," Hafsa called her gesturing her to come inside. She liked the hot weather, the feel of the hot sand against her slippers was something she cherished. Those slippers were not her's it was given to her by Nazreena.

Sighing, she walked into the little room and sat behind Baraq. His tense shoulder give away about his situation. Before he could open his mouth, the old man showed his palm and begin telling what to do next.

"The Old Palace is your destination and you have to meet a woman with amber eyes. When you meet her you have to tell her only one thing." He paused, his heavy rumble silence the whooshing air which tried to lighten the mood.

"The Lost has been found."

Baraq and Nazreena exchanged glances and nodded their heads. While Layla listened to the man intently while playing with Baraq's keffiye's hem. She tugged it slightly making Baraq aware of her presence, unknowingly.

"Now, you all shall start your journey." The man advised them and gestured them to go out.

Baraq couldn't help, but feel his guts churning out. The possibility of meeting his own family eating him from inside. Numbers of questions arose in his mind as they walked under the hot sun back to the Moving Palace. Who was he? Where was his family? How was his family? And last but not least, how did this all happen? How was he separated? Why was he separated? Why he had to live under a pressure, unlike his possible who must be sleeping on the bed od roses; while he got thorns. Why?

Baraq's thoughts ate him out. He closed his eyes, then opened  them sharply. Taking in a sharp breath he marched on the steps leaving everyone behind.

"What happened to him?" Nazreena questioned, as she and Hafsa turned to Layla in search of answers.

"Don't look at me as if I have any answers, also when are we going to Dubai?" She questioned making Nazreena think about it.

"Right now."

"What do you mean right now. We can go tomorrow. Or if you are that much in haste, we can go in evening. We have all the time of the world." Layla justified feeling all the rush overwhelming.

"That's the thing, we don't have time, Layla. That's something we don't have."

"Yes," Layla muttered quietly, realising she have to save her family.

They have already planned to go there. There was nothing else left.

"Now that we know, where must be that Djinn. How do you think? We can kill him?" Layla questioned.

"Killing a Djinn will be quiet challenging." Nazreena concluded, her eyebrows frowned as if she was in deep thinking.

"Then?"

"Imprisonment is the only choice left or a certain man who knows more about Djinn, scholar can help us out."

"Then we must take Darwish with us." Hafsa suggested with her low voice knowing Nazreena will deny the option.

"I will talk to him myself." Nazreena said amd went to her room.

Hafsa passed a glance at Layla who shrugged her shoulders and walked with her at ease.

No amount of soothing words were going to console anyone here, and she knows that very well. So she left the thing as it was and focused on what she wanted to do. In just few days her life changed from a normal girl's life to a life where she didn't even imagine, she would fight a war against Djinn. As if humans weren't enough.

She thought and moved into her room only to be startled by Baraq's huge shoulder.

"Yah Khudaya, you scared me."She gasped aloud at him making him shake his head as he tilted his head and narrowed his eyes at her.

"How do I get peace?"

Layla was confused on his words. She raised her eyebrows in a very confusing manner and asked him, "I don't think I get your question."

"You do, how do I get peace? From where do I get it?" He questioned again as in urgency of getting it.

The truth was, the hollowness of his chest was increasing and he feared the darkness it brought. He could think properly, he couldn't work properly. The only think he thought about was peace. Peace. There was no such thing in his life which brought him peace and he wanted nothing else, but peace.

"What do you think will bring you to peace?" She questioned him back instead of answering.

"Peace." A word. There was nothing that came to his mind when he said that word and that made him more desperate for answers. Whatever he was feeling wasn't peace, and he was sure about it.

"Revenge." He answered making her eyes go widening to the point where she felt they will come out.

"Whatever my bring peace, but I am sure revenge won't bring peace." She answered hesitantly, slowly stepping inside. The intensity of his eyes making goosebumps arise on her arms.
