33. Baraq

"When you caressed my heart with a soft breeze,
You were the first one who didn't squeeze it."

Nazreena grumbled under her breath as her maids tightened their arms on Layla's hands binding them behind her as he struggled in their grip. Her eyes blurry and filled with tears.

"Where is he?" Curling her long fingers in her fists she sighed. Her anger visible in her eyes.

"Why are you doing this? I never did anything wrong to you." Layla reasoned worsening Nazreena's anger.

"Oh shut up! Will you? Eating my head from the moment I took you here." Her words echoed in the huge hall adorned with tall and wide intricate pillars and ceiling adorned with shiny chandeliers.

"I don't even know you properly." Layla couldn't help but cry with her tears running down her cheeks. Her hands trembled against the hold of the maidens.

The sudden manly grumble broke the argument.

"Where the hell are you taking me?" Baraq yelled jerking away his hand from Hafsa's hold and stood tall on his feet.

Layla's eyes shone with tear as her eyes fell on the shocked Baraq standing on the entrance of the room. Her teary eyes crinkled with smile as he slowly entered the room with his mouth wide open and eyes almost blurred on her face. His earlier anger fading into more stronger one.

"B-baraq," her lips stuttered on his names as he neared her with slow steps. He didn't know what was happening? But after seeing her struggling in their arms, he could help, he sighed with his lips shaking violently.

Her heart thudded aloud, as he kneeled infront of her and cradled her face in his palms.

"Layla."

Layla couldn't be more happy to have him, here. With her. Her shoulders shook when he called making her break into sobs with her head bowed down. The thin silence evaporating and replaced by her breathy cries. Baraq patted her arms with his shaky hands, trying to calm her down.

"What is happening?" Looking up at him with her tear filled eyes, she questioned making him lunge at her into a hug. Her cries grew louder making Baraq's rigid demeanor break.

Nazreena sighed, her own burning with tears as she turned away from the scene. Hansa watched it all with her eyes open wide. On one side was he friend, who once was at the same place on Layla and on the other side was Layla and Baraq unknown to their own feelings.

"Stop it. You are crying as if your family has died." Nazreena muttered making her cry more in Baraq's arms. He tightened his arms around her more as if that would calm her down. In the lonely world of hers, she could only lean on Baraq and she didn't even know why.

Baraq's heart thudded when he felt her going limp in his arms.
"Layla?" He called her making pulling away from her and looking down at her face just to see her fainted in his arms.

"Layla!" His calls only grew louder as he shook her and tried her to wake her up, but she didn't.

Nazreena motioned Hafsa making her nod at her and walk to him. She slowly patted his shoulders making him turn around abruptly and complain to her.

"She was alright just a moment ago, but see she is not responding. See!" His words threatened to wake, but he kept himself strong. Not breaking apart. Baraq never cried, after crying over his first love.

"She is fine. She just needs to rest." Hafsa murmured and motioned him to carry her.

"After some rest, she will be fine. Let me show you the room." She announced making Baraq carry her limp form.

She weighed nothing next to Baraq and Baraq knew why? After all he was there. Everywhere around her. Everytime, he saw her eating something, she would just leave it and sleep on an empty stomach. She couldn't even eat properly.

His heart thumped aloud as her head slid down from his shoulder when he slowly put her against the soft mattress.

"Nazreena, is asking for your presence." Hafsa announced when Baraq sat beside Layla's limp form, his heart aching from the weight of her heartache
Is it what it feels like, when you have a spouse. Someone who is bound with you to eternity.

His hands brushed against her face, as he loosenEd her niqab but didn't uncover her face.

Sighing, he got up from his place and began walking behind Hafsa. She guided him where Nazreena was. Her own heart in her throat as she felt his eyes boring holes in her skull.

"Nazreena's," he nodded at her in acknowledgment with his yellow hunter eyes gkaring at her.

Nazreena walked with a shadow looming behind her.

"Jinn's Cave."

Two words. It exactly took two for Baraq's confusion to rise and anger palpable in his eyes.

"What about it?"

"Here's a story, want to listen?" She neared the small wooden table and poured the cool, red jallab in three small intricate cups.

"Just spit it out," he gritted his teeth, his veins popping out on his neck and temple.

"I would watch my mouth, if I were you." She sickly smiled at him gesturing him to sit down.

"That's the thing, you aren't on my place. And I would never respect you for how you behaved with Layla." His words fell harsher against silence, that propelled between them.

"Says the man, who didn't even tell his wife that they are wedded." Nazreen gritted with a smile plastered on her face. Her anger grew by each passing second.

"Listen to me or forever be ready to lose your wife." Her threat hung low around him making him thin lips.

It wasn't like Baraq didn't wanted to lose Layla, but he didn't wanted to harm an innocent soul.

"The Jinn who was incarcerated there is missing. And someone is using him against the laws of Islam." Her words confused him making him frown as he shifted on his legs.

"How does that concern me or Layla?"

"Layla was the one who emancipated it." The defeaning silence paired with the cool breeze surrounded them making Baraq's blood rush to his ear.

I really don't know what's going on. I just want to finish this story as soon as possible. So I can begin with my editing.
