I sat up from the dusty floor, rubbing my eyes. My ears were ringing and as soon as my vision cleared I looked around. Everyone was lying on the ground, everyone except the magnet lady and her goon. How could they have woken up before us? They were hit with an extraordinarily high powered electric shock. Suddenly it all came back to me. I rushed over to Alex who lay limply on the floor.

"Alex!" I said urgently, trying to shake her awake. "Alex, wake up!" I tried to feel for a pulse, I had no clue what I was doing; I couldn't feel anything. I lay my head by her heart trying to hear it...nothing. I carefully watched for breathing but saw nothing. "Alex! No!" I cried out between sobs. "Alex! I can't do this without you!"

I scramble over to Isaac shaking him rabidly. "Isaac! Get up! Alex isn't breathing! There's no pulse! Isaac! Get...up..." I was shouting but couldn't handle it and broke down to sobs. I was still gently shaking him when his eyes shot open and he grabbed my arms. I shrieked and he realized it was me and let go. He slowly sat up and looked at me, seeing me in tears he immediately wrapped his arms around me and asked what's wrong.

"Talk to me, Meg. Why are you crying?" He asked worry filling his words.

"Alex...i-is...n't...brea...eathing," I mustered out between sobs.

"Go wake up everyone," he told me rushing over to Alex, "I'll work on her." I nodded and slowly got up stumbling over to Tristan. I started shaking him and telling him to get up, but he just turned over, I gave up and kicked him.

"Ow what was that for!" He said angrily but stopped when he saw my face. "Oh my God! Are you ok?"

I didn't say anything just pointed at Isaac and Alex. Isaac was checking for a pulse breathing deeply. He looked up suddenly and said directly to me, "She's alive." I just stood there in shock joy pulsing through me. But it faltered with his next words,"but barely." I rushed over to Alex and held her hand. ***

"Alex if you can hear me don't you dare die on me! You are the best person in my life and I need you!" I started to break down again facing the reality that if she dies, I'll have lost the only person in the world that truly understood me.

I heard people talking around me but I didn't know what they were saying. The only thing I could hear were the memories playing in my head.

(Over the phone)
Meg: (crying) Alex?
Alex: Meg what's wrong?
Meg: It's over, Alex. He broke up with me. He dumped me and I don't have a ride home. (Breaking down) I-i didn't know who to call.
Alex: I'll be right there. (Can hear keys and a jacket in the background-pauses) Where are you?
Meg: The little sushi place on Elm wood.
Alex: On my way. Stay put; you hear me?
Meg: Mhm.
Alex: Ok see you soon.
Meg: Thanks, bye.
Alex: Anything for you.
(Of the phone)
Alex: Sorry Isaac, I'll be back in couple of minutes. I need to pick up Meg.
Isaac: Ok I can leave if you want.
Alex: Actually can you set up for some Netflix and get ice cream?
Isaac: Sure. What flavor?
Alex:Cookies and Cream, I got to go bye! (Slams door and runs to car. )

Ten minutes later
Alex: Meg! Hey, let's get out of here okay?
Meg: (nods slowly arms crossed insecure)
Alex:(guides Meg to car arm around her)
Meg:Thanks, Al.
Alex: No prob, Cheese.

At Alex's house...
Alex:(opens door and helps Meg take off her jacket) Here lets go get your pj's.
Meg: Ok (walks up the stairs with Alex)
Alex: (grabs Megs pj's from her sleepover drawer and hands them to Meg) You can go change in my bathroom and use anything you need okay?)
Meg:(nods and walks into the bathroom. Stares into the mirror and starts to cry again)
Alex:Meg? Are you okay?
Meg: (sniffles and wipes tears away) Yeah. Yeah. I'm fine.
Alex: Can I come in?
Meg: (opens door and nods)
Alex: Sit. (Pats counter and Meg hops up) I'm going to take off this silly mascara. (Starts to wipe of all the streaky makeup)He wasn't worth the waste of your beautiful tears. They should be used for happy things. (Throws away wipe and lifts up Megs chin) Look at me. Promise you'll never waste your tears over someone who isn't worth it ever again.

I stare at Alex's unmoving face, "Your worth it, Alex, your worth my tears."
