Vengeance is Mine! (A RWBY AU story) teaser

Remnant. A world where the people inhabiting it once thought was their home. But now... now it's nothing more than a distant memory and replaced with what felt like a nightmare...

No one's POV

Somewhere on Remnant, a once highly populated kingdom was now in ruins and debris. Thousands of buildings, as small as a simple market and as tall as the sky, were all nothing more than piles of rubble. Not many buildings remained, but even then they were still considered too dangerous to live in, unstable and could easily fall down at any moment. The sky was covered in smoke. The smoke was so thick the sun hasn't been seen in weeks.

Down on the ground, a woman pokes her head out from a shattered wall. She looks up into the clouded sky for a few seconds. Hearing nothing, she slowly steps out from her cover into a small clearing surrounded by what's left of several tall buildings with pebbles and small pieces of debris scattered across the ground.

The young woman had red hair. She wore her hair in a waist-length ponytail, curled slightly into a loose ringlet. She also wore light-green eyeshadow around the far upper corners of her green eyes. She was tall and quite muscular. As a top, she wore a brown overbust corset with a vertical strip of lighter brown in the center. Additionally, she wore an elastic, black, A-line mini skirt and brown opera-length gloves on both arms. She wore a red ankle-length sash that wrapped around her skirt. As for accessories, there was a small circular bronze plate on her right hip opposite two pouches with both connected to a belt. The plate bore her "shield and spear" emblem. Underneath her hair, she always wore a brown circlet adorned with a pair of small, green, teardrop-shaped emeralds on thin chains. On her left ear she wore a gray headpiece. She also sported a large bronze gorget around her neck and a bronze bracelet on the upper half of her left arm. She wore spartan-like armor. She had elaborate bronze greaves that started below her mid-thigh before continuing downwards into her boots as well as a pair of cuisses that began mid-thigh and ended slightly above her knees. She was also equipped with a bronze bracer atop the sleeve on her left arm. Her high-heeled boots were brown with bronze trim, matching her skirt and sleeves and reaching up to mid-calf.

In her hands she held a red and gold sniper rifle. And on her back was a bronze shield. After taking several steps forward, she looks over her shoulder and motions for someone to follow her.

"It's clear." She spoke lowly, almost in a whisper. "This is our chance." She took a few more steps forward, her eyes focusing on the sky.

A moment passes. Slowly, a handful of people, including men, women, and children, all stepped out from the wall. Their clothes were torn and dirty. Their faces looked exhausted, having several layers of bags underneath their eyes and their hair were messy. They all look nervous, as if they knew something bad may happen to them.

"Oh man..." One of the younger men began nervously. "I-I don't know about this."

"Be quiet!" One of the older women next to the boy began scolding him. "I don't like this either. But if we want to live, this is our only option."

"Yes, m-mom."

"Hush!" The red haired woman looks over her shoulder again. "We can't be so loud. He'll hear us and-."

Upon reaching to the center of the small clearing, the sound of an evil laugh fills the sky.

"Hahahaha!"

Everyone in the group froze where they stood, fearing for the worst. They began to mutter to each other that their end was here or how they didn't want to die. One child even broke down and began sobbing as a few tried to help the child. Even though the woman in armor was scared as well, she forced herself to not break down and aimed her rifle into the sky.

"Where are you?" She mutters under her breath, trying to focus her aiming via the scope on her rifle. Sweat began to fall down her forehead.

After what felt like forever, the voice echoed across the sky again, this time it was much closer. "I see you still don't understand when to give up, mortal."

The woman's hands and legs began to tremble. She tried to set her breathing, but it failed as she tried to ignore the panicking group behind her. "Crap." She whispers through her gritted jaw.

Suddenly the air felt cold. Wind began picking up as a giant yet very thin tornado formed in the sky, thin enough to fit a person in. Laughter could be heard again except this time, the ground rumbled and the voice sounded like it was on top of them.

"Hahahahaha!"

The tornado's bottom tip lands on top of a small building. Shortly after a black silhouette with terrifying red glowing eyes was seen within the tornado.

"It amazes me knowing you're still alive." The voice from the tornado began. "No wonder you were considered the top first-year student at Beacon."

The person in the tornado crashes through the small building's roof. The entire building crashes within the pressure from the force of the landing. An explosion coming from the building sent small pieces of debris and flames flying everywhere, including towards the group.

The woman pulls her shield out from her back and uses it to shield herself from any incoming debris. "Quick!" She yells over her shoulder to the civilians. "Get out of here while I keep him busy!"

But the civilians didn't listen. They all watched in horror while standing still, too afraid to move as smoke rises from the building. A small chunk of debris flew and landed on top of a young girl, killing her instantly. The woman with red hair jaw drops as her eyes widen.

'She's dead.' She thought.

Quickly snapping herself back to reality, the woman lowers her shield and placed it back on her back as the raining debris stopped. She glares towards the destroyed building made by the person. "Damn you." She spoke through her clenched jaw.

A chuckle came from the destroyed building. The person's silhouette could be seen through the flames and smoke. Eventually, the smoke disappears and all that was left was a man standing on top of a small pile of debris.

The man has a slightly dark skin tone and black eyes, along with a somewhat skinny physique. His hair is was a dark shade of black with only four front spikes and three back ones. He wore a dark grey vest, a long-sleeved black undershirt with a turtleneck, a red sash, black pants and pointy white boots. He wore a green with gold chain earring on his left ear. He also had a silver ring on his right index finger.

The people behind the woman all began to panic seeing the man, which causes a grin to form on his face. He adjusted his body so he was facing the group.

"Hello, Pyrrha." The man said, his voice sounded like he was both happy yet annoyed seeing the woman in armor.

"Black!" The woman, Pyrrha, responds to the man's greeting, anger filled her voice.

"That's right, mortal." The man, Black, chuckles. "Hehe."

"Why are you doing this?!" Pyrrha yells as her grip on her rifle tightens.

The grin on the man's face drops slightly, replaced with a different look, as if he was triggered by the question. But it immediately went to a more calmer one. "Oh? You seriously asking me that NOW?" He asks curiously. "You really don't understand, do you?" He pauses, awaiting for Pyrrha's answer.

"..."

An awkward moment of silence passes. Eventually Black gave up waiting and scoffs. "Of course you wouldn't. After all, you're a mere mortal. Mortals could NEVER understand. But I must ask my dear: wasn't it obvious? I mean, I thought YOU of all people would at LEAST get a hint right. "

Pyrrha wasn't expecting a question coming from him. This made her step back in confusion and fear of getting the question wrong. "W-what?"

"Hmp." Black folds his arms and looks down, sighing as he closed his eyes as if he gave up. "But I guess you're still too pure and naïve to understand."

Rage began fueling Pyrrha's blood. Pyrrha aimed her rifle up at Black and tried to shoot him where he stood with the entire magazine. But unfortunately Black opened his eyes on time and began to effortlessly dodged by moving his shoulders away from the bullets with a small grin on his face. "Heh. Nice try." He said mockingly.

'Come on...just a little longer.' Pyrrha tried to reassure herself that things would work out. But soon nothing came out of the rifle as she continued to pull the trigger. It soon hits Pyrrha that she was out of ammo. 'Not good!'

Seeing her realize her situation, Black's grin grew a little more. "Pyrrha Nikos, I must confess something to you..."

"H-huh? What is it?" Pyrrha asks as her rifle transformed into a spear.

"I used to wish we could've met under different circumstances. I really did. You caught my interest a few years back. In fact, I guess you could say I actually had a crush on you once."

Pyrrha's eyes widen in surprise. Never would she have thought Black would ever say that. She felt like he was lying, but his tone was serious and honest.

"I heard so much about you and your incredible talents as a warrior. I would've loved to test your skills against mine. However..."

As Black was about to continue, several of the civilians took this opportunity to make a run for it. They turned around and began sprinting as fast as they could back to where they came from. However, a yellow blast of energy was shot towards their exit, exploding it to dust. The blast made a shockwave powerful enough to send the people flying back towards Pyrrha. The latter turned towards the commotion and watched as the bodies landed by her feet. The people weren't killed, however they were badly injured. The pain of hitting their back hard against the ground left them moaning and groaning as they laid there.

"Foolish mortals." Black spoke, not caring if they were listening or not. "Don't you know it's a sin to interrupt a god when he's speaking? Now where was I...?" The last part he mumbles to himself.

Pyrrha quickly turns back to Black. "You're a monster, y/n!" She shouts angrily, not even realizing what she just said.

Black's grin disappears. His brow burrows and his jaw shuts tight. He clenched his hands into fists as he tried to hold himself back from killing the group without hesitation. "Y-y/n..." 'Black' mumbles, the word leaving a sour taste in his mouth. "D-don't ever say that name again." The ground suddenly began to shake. The air became heavy as the wind blew violently. "Y/n is dead! In his place is me, Black!"

Pyrrha saw Black's body suddenly begun to illuminate a strange light. He was breathing heavily as his fists were trembling. Black's hair strangely began to spike up and down over and and over again.

"What's going on?!" One of the still standing civilians yelled as the rest saw the change in Black.

"I-I don't know!" Another yelled. "This is not-!"

"S-shut up!" Black suddenly shouted at no one. Everyone saw him slowly turn his head to his right, as if he was trying to talk to some one who wasn't there. "You d-don't have control o-over me! I-."

Black randomly stops. His eyes widen as if he was remembering something important. There was another awkward moment of silence. Eventually, the ground, wind, and air seemed to calm down as he did. His hair return to normal as the light from him disappears. Black slowly turns his head back to the group. "Oh, I remember where I left off now." He said ominously, as if completely forgetting what happened a moment ago.

Pyrrha gasps as she saw a sinister grin on Black's face.

"That was in the past, mortal. Right now, I simply cannot wait to watch you die." Black lets out a chuckle. "Hehe."

'What just happened to him?' Everyone on the ground thought as Black continued.

"You said I was a "monster", correct? No. I'm not a monster..." Black slowly levitates into the air. He spreads his arms out as he gazes into the sky. "I am a god! I'm the one who brings justice to this ruined world! My job is to restore the balance that this beautiful planet has lost due to you infectious mortals! This is my destiny! I...!"

As Black went on, two pairs of soldiers were in two different buildings. On was on Black's left, the other was on the right. One soldier from each pair had a sniper as the other had a binocular. The two groups lie down on the floor to avoid being seen. The two with the binoculars began zooming in onto Black as the snipers aimed their rifles at him.

"Ma'am! We're in position." Both of the soldiers holding the binoculars spoke quietly into their headsets on their ears. "Just give us the order."

Seeing Black continue to monologue, Pyrrha took this chance to speak quietly into her headpiece. "Understood." She looks up to Black. "Now, men!"

"?!" Black stops talking as he looks down to Pyrrha surprised. "What-?!"

The two men with the headpieces look towards their partners. Seeing them both ready, they gave the order. The first one to shoot was the sniper from Black's right.

"Eat this, bastard!" He said as he pulls the trigger.

"!!!"

The sound of the sniper's shot echos across the sky. Time felt like it slowed down as Black saw an bullet flying to his face. His face showed shock and rage as it was mere inches away from hitting him. Smiles grew on everyone else's face as they saw the scene in front of them.

"Heh," A small grin grew on Black's face. "You honestly thought that would've worked, mortals?" Black leans his head to the side as the bullet flew pass him.

Everyone's smiles fainted, but they still had hope. The second sniper pulled the trigger on his rifle and Black dodged it like the previous one. The people went into shock and horror as they saw Black still standing. "Well, guess what? That-."

The second bullet suddenly explodes in the air, releasing a thick cloud of smoke. The smoke filled Black's lungs, making him cough as he was still in the cloud. Pyrrha took this opportunity to attack. She saw a big pice of metal lying on the ground across from her. She lifts her arm up and a black glow forms on her hand as the metal levitates. She thrusts her arm forward towards Black as the smoke cleared. Black didn't have time to defend himself as the chunk of metal slams into him, suddenly wrapping itself around him to stop him from moving, and sent him flying back into a building.

"What?!" He shouts as he crashes through the building, creating an explosion of dust, which caused the building to collapse on itself.

Back to the group, everyone waits for a moment. Seeing the building which Black was in collapse made everyone smile again.

"D-did it work?" One of the soldiers spoke through the headpiece. "Did we kill him?"

"..." Pyrrha still wasn't smiling. She turns back towards the group. "Let's not waist any more time. We-."

The sound of an explosion stops Pyrrha. She turns back and saw where the building once was was now replaced in smoke as Black was levitating in the air, slightly banged up as he wipes away some dirt from his mouth. He had a cold glare and his face showed he was fed up with being nice.

"Oh no..."

A minute ago where the building collapsed, there was nothing but debris and dust. But suddenly a powerful gust of wind within the debris blasts all of the rubble away, revealing an enraged Black yelling into the air. "HAAH!!!". His clothes and face were covered in dirt, angering him even more.

"So," Black began talking to himself as he wiped the dirt off of him. "She was just a distraction, huh? Fine then, I'll just-."

Black stops as he slightly turns his head to his right. He stayed quiet for a moment, as if listening to someone speaking to him. His brows burrow as he grits his teeth. "Quiet!" He shouts at no one. "This isn't the time for you to-!" Again, he remains silent for a moment. "Grrr...shut it. I know what I'm doing."

Seeing he cleaned most of the dirt off of him, Black quickly flew into the air, hungry for vengeance.

Back to the present, everyone's jaws dropped. They couldn't believe that a building collapsing on Black couldn't even hurt him.

Something shining to Black's left caught his attention. "Hmm?" He searched for a moment to find that shine. He quickly did and saw the two soldiers staring in horror as they were caught. Black sneers at the two as he pulls up his palm. "Found you."

"Get out of the buildings, now!" Pyrrha yells into her headpiece.

"Huh?!" The two soldiers gasps as they tried to get up and flee the building.

A yellow ball of energy grew in Black's hand. Three yellow blasts were shot out of his hand.

The blasts explode the building the soldiers were in and a few others behind it into nothing.

"No!" Pyrrha shouts before throwing her spear at Black as he wasn't paying attention to her.

Unfortunately Black saw it coming from the corner of his eyes. He turned his body and grabbed the spear just as it was about to impale him. He casually threw it to the side before blasting the buildings on his left where the other pair of soldiers were hiding.

"Was that all you got?" Black asks coldly as he turns his head to Pyrrha.

"..."

"Pathetic." He spoke venomously.

"Hey, over here!" A voice from behind the group caught everyones' attention.

"!!!"

Out of nowhere, several new soldiers came out from the rubble around the area. They all were carrying rifles with them and began unloading at Black, who dogged every single bullet.

"What are you men doing here?!" Pyrrha shouts towards the closest soldier near her.

"Get the civilians to safety, ma'am!" The soldier respond as he reloads his rifle. "We'll handle this!"

"But-!"

"Please, ma'am! We volunteered to do this! This is what we wanted-!"

"Fools." Black raised both of his palms. He began raining down several energy blasts at the soldiers. The blasts explode on impact with either hitting the soldiers or the ground, turning both into nothing.

"AAAHHH!!!" The soldiers scream in pain as they felt themselves being evaporated from the blasts.

Everyone who wasn't a soldier or Black watched in horror as they saw how powerful Black's attacks were.

"Enough." Black spoke as he turned his gaze back to the group.

'He's so strong!' Pyrrha thought as she tried to think of a new plan of escaping. 'What should I do now?!'

Everyone stayed still for a moment. Everyone waited anxiously for what Black was going to do next, the latter simply staring at them menacingly. That was until he decided to speak up. "I'm done playing games. It's time I continue my mission!"

Knowing that Black's patience has run out, Pyrrha turns around and yells to the group. "Everyone RUN!!!"

Without hesitation, the group began running away all at once, Pyrrha not too far behind.

"You can run, but you can't hide!" Black cups his hands to his side, his eyes fixed onto the fleeing group. "KA..." A ball of energy is created in between his hands. It's inner energy was a dark purple as the outer was a much lighter purple. The energy's glow could be seen a few miles away as it charges.

"...MEE...!!!"

Pyrrha quickly looks over her shoulder and saw the energy slowly growing bigger and bigger. "T-this isn't good!" She tried to run faster to catch up with the group.

"...HAAA...!!!"

The energy's light grew brighter and brighter. The light emanating from the energy was so bright Pyrrha almost missed one of the remaining children tripped on their foot. She quickly grabbed onto him and continued to run after the rest. "Hurry, everyone!"

"...MEEEE...!!!" Black's hands thrust forward and a streaming, powerful beam of energy was shot out.

"...HAAAAA!!!"

The beam of energy was as fast as a speeding bullet. Within seconds, the beam was already behind Pyrrha and the group. "This is the end for you, mortals!" Black shouts as he remained in place.

The group regrettably looked over their shoulders. They were met with the beam's light and heat as it was about to hit them. They all looked shocked as Black was grinning from ear to ear.

To be continued...?

What do you guys think? Would anyone be interested in this story?

Another Dragon Ball x RWBY story. Yes, the reader is (though technically isn't) Goku Black. But this time I'm going for a twist/new spin on this kind of story I'm not sure many people have tried before. I'm still working on my other Dragon Ball x RWBY story too, but I'm trying to have multiple chapters done first before releasing it. And just like the previous one, I won't be having the reader be OP. There will be major limits involving transformations. No SSJ 3, Blue, God, or Ultra Instinct. All will be explained within the story if this does get enough interests. And I do have a plan involving love interest, but I'm not revealing it yet.
