Vale,
Raven's POV

"'Please...no...Gods no...'" Those words were all I could think of at the time. The time that changed Remnant forever.

All around me I could hear the faint sound of gunshots, people screaming in horror and fear, Grimm howling and screeching, and explosions. I ran as fast as I could with my right leg bleeding, hurting like hell. I was holding my four year old daughter, Yang, in my arms with all my strength as I try to get out of the corpse-filled streets of Vale.

'I...can't keep going....'

I'm exhausted from running for Gods know how long. I'm hurting, my body is beaten and bleeding, and my aura hasn't returned to heal me yet. I'm confused. No one's semblances or auras are working. It's as if our powers are gone. I'm afraid, afraid of my friends' and my precious little Yang's life. I wanted to help fight off the Grimm invasion in Beacon, but Qrow demanded I get Yang to safety, which I didn't argue with. I can't loose her. She means the world to me.

'How could this happen?' I questioned as I jump over a half-eaten corpse on the ground caused by the Grimm.

"M-Mommy-." I heard my daughter gasp.

"Not now!" I stop running when I saw an entrance to an alleyway on my left, taking this moment to catch my breath. I took a glance at Yang and saw her purple eyes widen in fear as she screams.

"Behind you!" Yang shouts and points over my shoulder.

'?!'

I look over my shoulder and saw a car thrown at my way. I roll over to the side just in time to avoid being hit. The car explodes behind me as I try to get back up. I tried, but only yell in pain as I felt my leg snap, causing me to stay on one knee.

'Agh! My leg!' I can feel my eyelids growing heavy. I've lost too much blood at this point and might faint at any moment.

Behind me, I see cars engulfed in flames, scattered all over the streets as smoke rises in the air. I hear a loud roar from a Grimm coming from behind the cars. A large silhouette with a single large yellow eye steps forward, each steps it took causes a small tremor in the ground, before it slaps a car from its right into a building, which explodes on impact.

"Mommy!" Yang screams in fear as I force my body to get back up.

Once done I weakly turn back and limped into the alleyway. Just before I entered, I look over my shoulder and saw the Grimm coming out of the smoke, looking for me.

I noticed the Grimm didn't see me as I went through the alleyway, so I don't think it'll follow.

I ran for a bit in the alleyway before turning into a different path. When I thought we were safe for a moment, I decided to put Yang down next to a trash bin to catch my breath. I rest my shoulder on the wall next to me before sliding into a sitting position. I felt my leg continued to burn as I sat so I quickly got my boot off to see the damage from the Grimm.

"Mommy, are we okay?" Yang spoke as I saw a claw mark on the side of my leg. The mark covered most of my lower leg in blood as it drips onto the pavement floor. I was bleeding. Badly.

"Damnit!" I mutter under my breath, ignoring Yang's question for now, "The Grimm will smell-!"

I felt a few pebbles drop on top of my head. My eyes widen as I quickly look up to see a Grimm slowly crawling down on the wall above me, trying to get a surprise leap on us.

Seeing me notice it, the Grimm growls before lunging itself at us. My parental instincts kicks in as I immediately went to grab Yang to protect her.

"YANG!" I shout in horror as she was too scared to move.

I was too slow as it lands on top of me, pinning me by the shoulders to the ground. The Grimm snarls it's fangs in my face as I tried to punch and kick it off of me. But because I was already too wounded and exhausted to fight, the Grimm caught my right arm in its mouth. Luckily my armor was on as the Grimm struggles to bite my arm. The Grimm bit as hard as it could into my armor, eventually breaking through to my skin. I scream in pain as I can feel my bones shatter in the Grimm's mouth.

"MOMMY!" I somehow heard Yang over my screaming.

I turn my head to the side and saw a sight I won't ever forget. A Beowulf were towering over Yang as she was crying her eyes out.

Her back was to the trash bin as she covers her head with her arms in a fetal position. The pain in my body disappears as my eyes widen in horror as they were glued on the sight in front of me.

"YANG, RUN!!! PLEASE!!!" I shout with all I had in hopes she will listen to me, but it was all in vain as she wasn't moving.

'Please... No...'

It felt like time itself slowed down, as if the Gods were punishing me for my sins, as I saw what happened next.

"NOO!!!"

The Grimm lunge at Yang. I felt my vision blur as my eyelids felt heavy, but I force myself to keep awake. My eyes slowly closed on their own as I continued to try to break out of the Grimm's grasp. But eventually I black out.

Present Day
No one's POV,
Unknown location

Raven slowly wakes up from her slumber. She opens her eyes and was instantly met with rays of sunshine in her face via the open window next to her, blinding her. She covers her face with one hand as she slowly sits up on her bed.

Currently, Raven was in a pair of shorts and a black shirt. She has old, torn bandages wrapped around her wrists that were covered in dried blood from so many years of wearing them.

The room she was in was unusual. The walls were old, the paint has lost its colors over the years, and it was starting to tear off the wall. Her bed was extremely old, years old perhaps, as dirt covers the blankets, pillows, and covers. Garbage involving old caned food, bags, and paper was scattered all over the floor. The window was cracked and one of the hinges that kept the window up was missing. The cabinet next to the bed was extremely old and torn up.

"Damnit." Raven spoke tiredly and annoyed, "It happened again...That fucking dream..."

After her eyes finally adjusted to the sunlight, Raven scooted herself to the side of her bed. She gave herself a moment to wake up as she rubs her face with her hands, groaning. She stops when she felt her hands wet. Confused, she stares at her hands and saw them covered in sweat. Still not fully awake yet, it took her a moment to realize that she must of sweated through the night. Not only that, but she noticed her bandages were becoming loose. She tiredly grabs the end of the bandage on her left arm and wraps it tightly before doing the same on her right.

When Raven was done, she sighs before getting up from her bed. She made her way for the bathroom across the room to take a shower. But she suddenly stops in her tracks when she remembers to get some new clothes to change into as her current one's were sweaty. She walks over to the cabinet in the far corner of the room and grab some new clothes to change into. After, she went to the bathroom to finally take a shower.
