[PART 1] RWBY: To Forget the Past

No one's POV

It was a chilly day in a forest somewhere in Remnant. A snowstorm has just passed last night and everything was covered in snow. The sun began to set behind huge mountains in the distance. A handful of flying Grimm were flying pass the sun and to the mountains to search for food.

Somewhere on the ground, a family of deer were hoping away from some commotion. A tree was thrown at a woman, who looks to be in her early forties, causing her to jump and roll out of the way to her left. She lands on one knee as the tree crashes into a giant rock, causing the two to explode into millions of pieces. Pieces of wood, rock, and snow flew everywhere and some of the snow got into the woman's winter clothes and her long jet black hair, which she ignores.

She wore an old and strange gauntlet on her left arm and a long leather glove on her right hand.

The woman's crimson red eyes glance at the destruction for a brief second, thinking how she barley missed being killed, before hearing a grizzly roar in front of her. She turning her head to her opponent and scowls. In front of her was an alpha Ursa, standing on its two hind legs as it roars into the air. The woman slowly stood back up as the Grimm lands on all four.

"Bastard..." The woman hisses quietly. She lifts her right hand to her side as the Ursa growls. It charges at her as she stood still, waiting for something. Her brows burrow deeper with each moment that the Ursa got closer and closer to her. "Come on...come on...!" She mutters impatiently as sweat travels down her face.

Within a few seconds, the Ursa was in front of her. It stood on its two hind legs as it lifts its right arm over its head, preparing a powerful swing. But before that cold happen, something wooden and silver flew from deep within the forest and flew into the woman's hand. She grips the handle tightly, too tightly, as she felt her hand sting in pain around the handle. What she grabbed was an axe.

She hisses and winces from the pain in her hand, but she forces herself it ignore it. She looks back up to the Grimm and leaps in the air and toward the Grimm, higher than the nine foot tall Ursa. Time seems to slow down as the Grimm slowly look up at the woman as the latter lifts her axe behind her shoulder and grips it with both palms. She starts to swing her axe at the Ursa's face as it doesn't have time to defend itself. The woman stabs the edge of the axe's blade into the Grimm's open mouth and uses all her might to pull the axe towards the ground. The Grimm roars in pain as the woman m passes its back, but a loud snap and was heard behind the woman. Time seem to return to normal as the Grimm's roar suddenly stops. The woman lands on her feet, crouching, as the Ursa's head, now decapitated, crashes on the snowy floor next to her boot. A loud thud was heard behind her and the ground shook underneath the woman. Now all that was left was peace and quiet.

The woman took this moment to catch her breath, panting heavily as she could see her breath from the cold air.

"Damnit..." She curses. "The Grimm have evolved and gotten stronger over these seventeen years..." She finishes her sentence as she slowly got back on her feet. She puts her axe on her back as she looks over her shoulder at the Grimm's corpse. Usually Grimm dissolve after death, but recently, that doesn't happen anymore. "..." She was silent as she watches black ooze drip from the head and neck.

As the woman continues to stare and catch her breath, she could feel her hands trembling. She looks down at her hands and felt them heating up. Her breathing became heavier as she tries to keep her composer.

"I-its okay, Raven..." She mutters to herself. Raven closes her eyes as she clenches her hands, tears forming at of the corner of her eyes. "Just...endure and survive..."

Meanwhile...

Somewhere else within the frozen forest, two people in long brown cloaks were walking up a steep hill. The one in front was taller than the second one, who looks to be 5'10. On the taller one's back, it appears that the person was carrying two swords on their back. But it's not clear as their weapons were wrapped in bandages. Same for the shorter one, except they only had one weapon on their back. Both of them were breathing heavily as they travel up the hill.

"We're...almost there, kid..." The taller one says over their shoulder. Their voice was male, old and stern, scratchy. "Just a bit further..."

"..." The other doesn't say anything.

The man doesn't think much of it, thinking the kid was probably tired. That was until he heard the person trip behind him. The second one grunts as they roll down the hill. The man whips his head over his shoulder and stops walking. "Kid!" He yells.

The second one does their best to stop rolling, but it was no use. As they were heading towards the bottom of the hill, they grunt and yelp over and over as they hit rocks and tree branches all over their body. Eventually, the person's back crashes into the bottom of a tree, causing them to yell in pain. "GAH!!"

"KID!" The person heard the man yell above them. They slowly sit up, groaning in pain, before resting their back on the tree. The man cautiously slides down the hill to them. "You alright?" The man asks as he was a foot away from the person.

The person looks up at the man as he lands on a rock next to them. The person's hood slowly falls down from their head as the man kneels in front of them. When the hood was down, the person under it was a teenage boy who looks around eighteen years old. His pale skin was covered in dry mud and soot, which covered a small scar on his right black eyebrow. His icy blue eyes reflected off the sun's light. He has short spiky black hair with a streak of white hair in the front.

"I-I'm fine..." The boy says as he slowly got on his feet. He couldn't get all the way as a huge amount of pain struck his back, causing him to groan and fall back on the tree. "Shit..." He mutters as he looks down, defeated.

"You seriously giving up, kid?" The man asks, with a tone that says he was insulted. "Y/n, we've gone this far." He says, pointing a gloved finger in the boy's, y/n's, face. "Don't you fucking dare give up. We've sacrificed too much to give up right now." He doesn't bother to help y/n. Instead, he got back on his feet and began to continue walking up the hill. "Come on." He says sternly, not even bothering to look at y/n.

"..." Y/n doesn't say anything. He watches the man continue up the hill for a moment before sighing. He slowly got back on his feet and carefully walks up the hill. "Why me...?"

Meanwhile...

Raven has been walking through the snow for a while. She had her scarf over her mouth to keep it warm. But she could still see her breaths.

"Where did that deer go?" She whispers as she looks everywhere around her.

As Raven was too busy looking for food, she doesn't pay attention to ground. She accidentally steps on a branch, snapping it under her weight. She stops walking as she thought she heard something to her right. "?!"

She turns to the direction, pulls out her axe, and throws it to the noise. She waits a minute for a Grimm, but nothing happens.

"..."

She waits for another minute and still nothing.

"..."

After a third minute, she relaxes a little. Raven lifts her right hand and waits for her axe to return to her. But she was suddenly smacked from behind by something massive and metallic, sending her a few feet in the air. "ACK!" She yells as she hits and rolls on the snow.

Raven slowly lifts herself on all four as she looks to where she once was. She expected a Grimm to be there, but her eyes widen in shock as she saw something else. A few feet away from her was a massive robotic bear standing on its back legs, around seventeen feet tall. It growls like a bear but with a robotic tone. It lands on all four and slowly walks around her.

'What the hell-?'

Raven noticed it's eyes were glowing blue. But as it continues to circle her, it's eyes shine red. It stops walking and stood on its back legs, roaring into the air. It's roar was so loud it scares all the animals within several yards away.

As it finishes, Raven managed to get on her feet. She lowers her scarf and sneers as she flexed her left arm, causing a metal shield to unfold itself from her gauntlet.

Meanwhile...

The two males reach the top of the hill. When they did, they both barley heard the roar, which sounded far off in the distance.

"Shit..." The man mutters as he looks around their surroundings before speaking up. "They're already here."

"How is that...possible?" Y/n asks as he drops to his knees, exhausted, panting. "We made sure-."

"Don't know. Nor do I want to find out." He says as he stares down at y/n. He looks up and behind the teenager and noticed the sun was about to disappear behind the mountains hundreds of miles away from them. "It's almost dark. We'll walk for another mile or two before setting up camp. Hopefully we can find a cave by then."

"..." Y/n doesn't say anything. He just stares at the man like he was insane. "But-."

"No buts!" The man barks. "We're a day behind schedule! Besides, I'm not in the mood to fight more Grimm or robotic animals. Understood?" He asks, well, more like demands.

"..." Y/n nods hesitantly. "Yes...sir..." He mutters quietly.

"Good. Lets move." The man says before continuing to walk, leaving y/n behind.

Meanwhile...

The machine and Raven stare down at each other. Raven sweats nervously as she doesn't have her axe with her. But she forces herself to stand her ground.

"Look, I don't know what you are or how you got the best of me." Raven told the machine, which doesn't listen to her. "But I do know that you're not friendly. So..." As she finishes, she hides her right hand behind her back. She flicks her wrist and a small blade extends under her palm. The blade flips around to where Raven can grab hold of the handle and grips it tightly.

"I'll just have to end this quickly!" Raven shouts.

The bear machine roars in response. The two charge at each other to fight to the death. The machine kicks up snow everywhere under its feet as Raven runs through the snow. Just as the two were mere inches away, everything turns black.

To be continued...?
