Many years before present day

It was a cold night in the floating kingdom known as Atlas. A man was walking through the halls of the Schnee manor.

On his back were his two swords, which had a mixture of both wet and dry blood on their blades.

As he was about to walk pass a room, he stops and looks at the closed door. He walks up to it before he kicks it open, ripping off the door from the hinges. He steps into the room, hoping he found his target, but was met with an empty room.

Seeing he just wasted his time, he shook his head before he walks out.

???: "Where is he?" He growls to himself.

Time skip

After searching the giant mansion for a while, the man felt a tick on his forehead grow. He growls as he stops walking, clenching his hands into fists. But he cools down when he heard multiple footsteps behind him. He turns around and found seven Atlas guards aiming rifles at him.

Guard: "Freeze!" He demands as he was readying to pull the trigger.

The man doesn't listen. He pulls out his swords before disappearing in flames. The guards look around for him, but couldn't find him. The man reappears behind them and sliced one of the guard's head off. The other guards turn around but were too slow as the man stabs his sword through a guard's chest and into a different guard's skull.

The remaining guards tried to shoot him, but nothing works. One guard charges at the man, but the latter spun kicked, with his foot on fire, the guard's head into the wall, shattering both his skull and the wall.

The the other guards ran back to get to a safe distance from him. One guard pulls out a grenade from his back, pulled the pin, and threw it at the man. The man saw the grenade flying his way, but did nothing.

It exploded next to his feet, leaving a small area of the hallway in ruins and smoke.

Guard: "Did we get him?"

Thinking they won, the guards lowered their weapons. But they were wrong. From the smoke, something attached to chains was thrown at one of the guards' head.

The chains were pulled back into the smoke, ripping the guard's head off. The remaining two guards stumble back as they just witnessed their comrade's head being ripped off.

Guard: "What the hell?! Who is this guy?!"

But instead of getting an answer, a fire ball was thrown his direction. The guard was still in shock about his friend and was oblivious to the ball until it hits him and left a hole in his chest. Once his body fell on the floor, there was only one guard remaining.

He looks back to the smoke and saw the smoke has cleared, but the man was gone again. Panicking, the guard looks around as he throws away his gun and pulls out two batons from behind. He slowly circles himself, being cautious of his enemy.

Guard: "Show yourself, coward!"

On cue, the man reappears in flames in front of the guard. Just as the guard was about to attack, the man grabs him by the throat with one hand and lifts him up.

The man activated his flames, causing the guard to catch on fire. He screams as he felt his skin melting, but the man doesn't let go. Once the guard was burnt alive, the man drops him before he walks away.

???: "I don't have time for this."

Meanwhile

On the opposite part of the mansion, was a young teenage Winter, fighting someone with hand-to-hand combat.

Winter tries to throw a few punches at him, but each time she did, he managed to either block or dodge with ease.

???: "You call that a punch?" He taunts as he caught a right hook from Winter with ease.

Winter tried to pull back, but the man had a tight grip on her. He knees her stomach, causing her to gasp for air. He let's go if her and spin kicks her guts, sending her flying back.

Winter lands on her back as the man crosses her arms. She tried to get up, but suddenly felt a burning sensation in her stomach. She winces as she held her stomach, heavily breathing.

Seeing as Winter was finished, the man walks up to her and offered his hand.

???: "You should have activated your aura." He informs as Winter took his hand.

Winter: "I'm sorry, master Kuai Liang."

Kuai Liang helps Winter up, but when he lets go of her, she stumbles and was about to fall but luckily her master caught her.

Kuai Liang: "It's alright. But from now on, try to not forget. You're lucky I didn't use all my strength."

Winter: "I know..." She admits as she looks at the ground.

Kuai Liang: "I understand that you think you might not need to use it, but remember: your aura is very important in fights. If you don't use it wisely, it'll be the difference between life and death."

Winter: "Yes, master." She says as she used her aura to heal herself.

Winter's body glows. Her ice blue aura began to heal her wounds as her master steps back.

Kuai Liang: "You've come a long ways, Winter." He admits in his head as he crosses his arms.

As Winter uses her aura, Kuai Liang thinks back to when all of this began. He remembers back a year ago when Winter's mother wished for him to train her daughter to become a strong woman.

At first, he didn't want to, but Willow managed to change his mind through kombat. And even though it's been only a year since then, the two became close. Kuai Liang would always push Winter beyond her limits. It wasn't because he didn't want to train her or anything negative. In fact, it was the complete opposite. He knows that there's a lot of powerful people out there in all of the realms- some who would love to get their hands on the Schnee Company and all that it owns, or those who would like nothing more than to see Remnant fall- so he's been training her in case he was killed or she was on her own.

At times, Kuai Liang thought Winter as his daughter, as Winter felt the same towards Kuai Liang. But of course, the two never had the courage to tell one another. Winter always did her best to impress Kuai Liang because she thought of him as her father since her actual father never really payed much attention to her as he cared more for the Schnee Company than his own family.

Meanwhile

The man was walking through a different hallway than before. He kept breaking into every room he found that wasn't already broken in by him.

His anger has risen since he's been having difficulties with his objective.

???: "Why can't I find him?!" He yells as his fists were on fire.

Feeling his anger taking over, he stops walking before he lets out a deep breath. He looks out the window next to him and saw the cracked moon.

???: "I will find you, Sub-Zero."

As if by some miracle, when he looks down, he saw saw Kuai Liang and Winter. His eyes widen as he felt his anger build up again.

???: "Found you!"

Back to Kuai Liang

Kuai Liang snaps out of his thoughts as he saw Winter was done healing herself.

Kuai Liang: "That's enough training for tonight." He says as Winter walks up to him.

Winter: "Thank you, master Kuai Liang." She says as she bows.

Kuai Liang nods before he bows back.

Kuai Liang: "You've made a lot of progress since we began your training. Soon, you won't need me."

Winter: "That's not true. I only just begun to use my aura and semblance. I still need to-."

Kuai Liang: "That's true, you just recently unlocked your semblance, but did you forget: your semblance works differently than mine. I can teach you a few things, but that's all. The rest is up to you. And besides, we both have our own duties to fulfill. My clan is my home and I must protect it."

Winter: "But-."

Just as she was about to argue, the two heard the sound of glass breaking and a loud "THUD". Winter looks over her master as Kuai Liang turns around.

???: "SUB-ZERO!!!" A voice roars, filled with anger and determination.

The yellow ninja from before walks to the two, but stops a few feet away. His eyes were lit with flames, but didn't last long as they returned to normal.

Kuai Liang: "Y/n? How are you-?" He asks the new arrival as he gets in front of Winter, ready to protect her by any cost.

Scorpion: "Y/n was killed when you and your clan killed my family and clan!" He points at Kuai Liang. "All that's left is Scorpion!"

Kuai Liang: "What? I thought Hanzo was Scorpion. Why are you-?"

Scorpion: "DON'T YOU DARE SAY MY BROTHER'S NAME!!!" He demands in a demotic voice as his eyes and hands were engulfed in flames.

Kuai Liang: "Winter, on my signal, you must run away and find somewhere safe." He orders Winter as he didn't take his eyes off of 'Scorpion'.

Winter: "W-what? I shouldn't-." Her tried to say as her voice was shaky.

Kuai Liang: "There's no time!" He barks.

Winter: "But I can-."

Kuai Liang's right hand glows icy blue as he summons a ball of ice and threw it at Scorpion, who sliced it in half with his sword. He didn't see Kuai Liang throw another ball of ice at him, which caught him by surprise and froze him solid.

Kuai Liang: "Go!" He demands.

Winter was about to argue again, but she heard the ice around Scorpion beginning to crack. Out of fear, Winter ran away from the fight as the ice trapping Scorpion gave her enough time to flee before Scorpion broke free from the ice. He roars into the air as flames engulfed his body.

Scorpion looks at Kuai Liang as his eyes and fist was on fire.

Scorpion: "No more waisting time! It's time I finish what my brother couldn't!"

Sub-zero: "Y/n, wait-."

Scorpion: "Never! I will avenge everyone you took from me!"

Scorpion got into fighting position. Seeing as 'Scorpion' wouldn't listen, Sub-Zero did as well.

Announcer: "Round one...FIGHT!"

Scorpion instantly teleports behind Sub-Zero and kicks his back. Once again, he teleports in front of Sub-Zero before the latter could do anything and punches his face. Sub-Zero stumbles back before Scorpion throws his kunai at him.

Scorpion: "GET OVER HERE!!!" He yells as he pulls his kunai and Sub-Zero to him and uppercuts Sub-Zero to the air.

Scorpion teleports above Sub-Zero and axe kicks him into the ground. Scorpion was about to go for another attack, but Sub-Zero rolls away and shot an ice ball at him, freezing Scorpion. He then creates a sledgehammer made out of ice and smashed it into Scorpion's face, destroying the ice and sent him flying back.

Sub-Zero creates ice on the ground and slide on it, quickly catching up to Scorpion before jumping off the ice and spun kicked Scorpion onto his back. When Scorpion got up, he was met with several punches and kicks from Sub-Zero and a icy fist to finish it off.

Scorpion quickly recovers and shot a fire ball at Sub-Zero, who shot an ice ball back, causing the two balls to cancel each other out. Scorpion charges at Sub-Zero and threw a punch. Sub-Zero jumps back and created a ice clone of himself in his place. The ice froze on Scorpion's hand, making him unable to move as he tries to yank his arm free. Sub-Zero summons several icicles and shot them at Scorpion's chest. The clone shatters as Sub-Zero charged at Scorpion, jumped into the air, and spun kicked his lower jaw, breaking it as it made a loud crack.

Scorpion roars in pain as he felt his jaw broken, but was hit in the gut with an ice sword that was thrown at him. Scorpion's eyes glow with flames as his body was engulfed in flames.

Scorpion recovers and teleports in front of Sub-Zero before uppercutting the blue man's gut, knocking the wind out of him. Scorpion backflips as his feet were on fire, sending Sub-Zero stumbling back. He charges at Sub-Zero before sliding and wrapped his legs around Sub-Zero's and spun the blue warrior to the ground.

The two got up and Scorpion punches Sub-Zero several times as his fists were on fire and finishes with a kick that sent Sub-Zero back.

After sliding in the ground, Sub-Zero gained his footing and got up again. He summons two ice machetes and charged at Scorpion. Scorpion pulls out his two swords from his back and charged as well. Soon, the two began to clash their blades with each other.

Scorpion tries to thrust his sword at Sub-Zero, but he ducks in time and got one of Scorpion's legs, setting him off balance. Sub-Zero took this chance and uppercuts him. Scorpion stumbles back as he drops his swords. Scorpion then summons two of his kunais and threw them at Sub-Zero. The blue ninja managed to doge one of them, but the second hits him. Scorpion yanks him to himself and kicks Sub-Zero in the face, with a loud "CRACK" around Sub-Zero's neck. Sub-Zero crashes his back onto the ground and doesn't move.

Scorpion wins

Due to the heavy beating he got, he didn't have much strength to get up. He tries to crawl away to fight another day, but found himself at the edge of the mansion, with a giant drop to the icy forest that's a few thousand feet down from where they are.

Scorpion: "It's over, Sub-Zero." He says from behind.

As Sub-Zero slowly got up, Scorpion charges and tackles Sub-Zero. Due to having nowhere else to go, the two flew off the edge of the kingdom, falling to the forest below.

As they did, the battle continues. Scorpion punches Sub-Zero in the face as Sub-Zero kicks him away.

Before they could continue, they both hit a tree. The two fell through several branches that did a number to each of them, but not as much as the ground did when they both crashed into the ground, a small distance from each other.

After a moment, Scorpion slowly got up as Sub-Zero did as well. Scorpion breathes out of his mask as he gives Sub-Zero a deadly look.

Sub-Zero's eyes glow as he breaths.

The two got into their stances as they're both ready to end things once and for all

Announcer: "Round two...FIGHT!"

As Sub-Zero slowly got up, Scorpion advances on him. Sub-Zero didn't have time to prepare as Scorpion gave him a right hook to the face as his hands were engulfed in flames.

Scorpion: "That's for my brother!" He roars before giving Sub-Zero a left hook. "For MY WIFE!" He gave Sub-Zero a right hook. "AND FOR MY DAUGHTER!!!"

The last punch sent Sub-Zero through a tree. Scorpion felt his anger growing as he felt the end was near.

Scorpion/narrator: "Sometimes people ask me...how did I become what I am?"

When he lands, Scorpion summons a kunai in his hand.

Scorpion/narrator: "Well...I'll tell you what I can remember."

As Sub-Zero got up, Scorpion throes his kunai at Sub-Zero's head. But just before it could stab him, everything went black. A moment passes before the sound of someone or something being decapitated could be heard. 

Scorpion wins... flawless victory... kontinue?
