Chapter 9 Let Me Help
Marinette's POV:
Marinette looks over at Adrien and thinks whatever it is that bothers you let me help.
"Adrien, why do you frown?" Marinette asks.
"You are so nice to me, but I do not deserve it," Adrien protest.
"Nonsense, we are friends," Marinette states.
"I mean it Adrien, let me help," She tells him.
Adrien's POV:
Adrien continues to frown as Marinette offers to assist him. It is not that simple for him. He is not the type to seek assistance from anyone least of all a girl. He sighs in frustration.
"Marinette we are hardly friends, so forget it," Adrien remarks.
He sees her look at him with compassion in her eyes.
"Adrien, look I know you must have something that eggs you so just tell me when you are ready," Marinette replies.
Adrien shakes his head in denial that anything is wrong. He does not plan to explain it to her. How can he without admitting his crush on her?
"I will leave in the morning when all this blows over," Adrien states as he points to the area outside the window.
Marinette's POV:
Marinette thinks goodness he can be so stubborn. She does not get why he refuses to trust her. It is like she did something to break their trust is there? As far as she knows, she is always been kind to him. She might have forgotten him once, but that is no reason for him to be so standoffish though is it?
She watches him turn around and waits until he falls asleep. She turns off the light, and tucks him in. Funny, she never thought this was how her day would turn out. Then, again strange things do have there a way of coming to her.
"Good night, Adrien," Marinette whispers so as not to wake him. She gets no answer so she lays down next to him. She is too tired to say another word.
The last thing on her mind before she falls asleep is perhaps things will be better in the morning.
Narrator's POV:
The next day, the storm is over and the rain has stopped. The ground is a rusty red color due to all the mud outside. It looks as if there is no way a bike could travel through it without getting stuck.
Marinette takes notice of this and smiles. She is already up, dressed, and has breakfast already. She enters her room and sees he is waking up. She does not say a word as she places a tray on his lap.
Adrien looks at the food in surprise but takes a bite out of it. He drinks some milk, then finishes the food, and the milk. He wonders when she had time to prepare all of it. How long was he out for anyway?
Adrien's POV:
" Sorry for taking up so much of your time, I will be going now," Adrien says.
"Nonsense," Marinette states.
"What? I mean it I must be on my way," Adrien objects.
Adrien sees the funny look she gives him and wonders what is with that face? It is almost like she has never seen him before which is crazy since she just saw him last night.
Marinette's POV:
Marinette thinks, how do I tell him his bicycle might be ruined now? She feels bad for him since he is so hard-headed as it is anyway.
"Adrien that is not what I meant," Marinette tries to explain.
"Then, what exactly did you mean?" Adrien asks.
"I mean that it is too messy out for you to ride that metal contraption of yours," Marinette replies.
Adrien scrunches up his nose in confusion. This results in laughter from Marinette.
Marinette continues to laugh at the face he makes since she finds it to be rather amusing.
