Chapter 7 Just Taken What is Mine

       Adrien's  POV:

Adrien grins when he hears the front door slam.  He knows it means Luka left for the night.  He waits until his cousin's car pulls away to put his plan into action. He puts on an all-black outfit, then slips the leftover mask from an after Halloween sale two years ago over his face, he adds a pair of gloves and dark shoes to the outfit.

He smiles, as he slips a black hat over his hair, then grabs his house keys, the flashlight, his wallet, a black duffel bag, and his bicycle.  He decides his bike is the best way to approach her place.  Besides, he is bound to draw less attention to himself this way.

"Where are you going dressed like that anyway?"  The nosy next-door neighbor lady asks.

"Good evening, Miss Thornsbury, and it is none of your business," Adrien replies.  He stuffs the flashlight and other stuff in the bag, slips the bag over his shoulders.  He makes sure it is secure before he climbs aboard his bike.

         Narrator's  POV:

Off Adrien goes into the evening with Miss Thornsbury giving him a disapproving look.  He rushes off without a care in the world. He rides as if his life depends on it.  He arrives at her place in fifteen minutes, hides the bike behind some shrubs, and rushes over to the window.

          Adrien's  POV:

Adrien grins as he thinks, yes I made it.  He pulls the screwdriver he kept inside the bag just in case he needed it and starts to pry the window open.  He gets it half up and grins.  He thinks there that ought to do it. He climbs inside, then shuts the window behind him.  The only trouble is his shirt gets stuck and he hears a loud ripping sound behind him.

He scowls to himself as he runs to the door.  He sees it is unlocked so he grabs up the note, sticks it into his pocket, and stuffs the vase inside his bag. He sneaks over to the door but hears someone coming. He lays on the floor in the hopes she will not see him.

         Marinette's  POV:

Marinette gasps as she thinks about how the two things are either coincidental or something else. She shakes her head as she considers the possibilities of the matter.

"Could it be Adrien is the one who gave me the note and the vase?"  Marinette asks herself once more.

She steps out of the bedroom into the kitchen to get a cup of water.  She smiles as she pours it. She takes a sip out of it when she hears a funny noise outside her bedroom window.

"Strange, I do not recall Alix saying anyone was coming over,"  She says to herself.

Marinette sets the cup down and walks in the direction of the noise. She opens the door to her room and can sense another presence there. She turns on the lights and giggles. She sees him flat on the ground.  She thinks for an intruder he sure is not good at this kind of thing.

"Okay, you can stand up now, I have caught you," Marinette says.

        Narrator's  POV:
The boy stands up with the bag now secure in place once more.  He does not say a word instead he looks at her in surprise.  He thinks great what do I do now?  He knows whatever he says she will never believe him.   He also knows it looks bad regardless.  After all, it is not every day he is this close to her or in her bedroom.

     Marinette's POV:

Marinette glares at him and thinks strange he looks familiar, but how?

"Do I know you?"  Marinette asks.

"Uh, what makes you say so?" He asks with a blush across his face grateful for the ridiculous disguise.

"You seem like someone I know," Marinette tells him.

"Who me?  Nah, you see I just came to take back what is mine,"  He explains.

"Take back what is yours?" Marinette asks clearly confused.

"Yes, that is what I said girl,"  He scoffs. He hopes she will not ask him any more questions so he can just leave.

"Come on you can stop the tough guy act," Marinette says with her hands on her hips.

        Adrien's  POV:

Adrien tries not to give himself away as he finds his crush glaring at him. He finds the situation to be quite different than he imagined it.  For one thing, he did not expect to get caught that is for sure.

"I am sure I do not know what you m-mean," He stutters.

"Oh, come on Adrien, we both know it is you!" Marinette blurts out.

"Adrien, ha, there is no Adrien here," Adrien shouts at her.  He tries to disguise his voice so she will not realize how right she is though.

   Marinette's  POV:

Marinette steps closer to him with a smirk.  "Well, then, you do not mind if I take this then do you?"  She asks.

Marinette grabs the bag, then pulls off the hat, the gloves, and finally the mask. She stands there with an amused look on her face.

"Hmm, I thought so, Adrien Agreste," Marinette says with an even bigger smirk then the one she gave him previously.

"Fine, you caught me," Adrien states. He looks at the ground.

"Now, the only question is what we have here," Marinette states.

Marinette opens the bag, pulls out the note, then the vase. She sets the downside by side on the dresser.  She also takes a close look at the flashlight, the screwdriver, and the wallet inside the bag.

"Goodness, Adrien I thought you were always such a nice guy!" Marinette blurts out. She looks angry now.

      Adrien's  POV:

Adrien feels the words burn as if he was lite on fire. He can not believe it.

"I am a nice guy," Adrien tells her.

Adrien reaches up to try to grab the items off the dresser but feels something pulls his hands away.

"It is okay, I can get you help, you know," Marinette says sadly.

             "Marinette, I ..." Adrien says.

"Adrien Agreste, you gave me the vase and note, I know it was you," Marinette blurts out.

Adrien shakes his head but knows she speaks the truth.

Marinette sees his tears, thinks oh did I make him cry?  She gently lets go of one of his hands and puts one on his cheek.

"Why?  Just tell me why you broke into my house and tried to take it back?" Marinette asks.

"I am sorry, I just had too," Adrien says through his tears.
