6. Escape
It took a while for you to calm down. Every time you began to come up with a plan of escape, your mind come up with horrible images with you dying a horrible death, causing you to freak out and start the process all over again. After this happened for the 13th time, you finally decided that you wanted to go home, so you finally formulated a plan.
The first thing you did was get into your old outfit that you had worn when you entered the mansion. When that was completed, you reached into your pocket and pulled out a knife. You sighed as you clutched it close, lamenting the fact that it would have been useful some time ago. After making sure you had a vial of confusion with you, you slowly creaked open the door of your room and poked your head out.
The halls were empty. Exhaling a breath that you had been holding, you slipped out of the room and crept away. It wasn't until you got to the bottom of the staircase that you heard someone coming. Panicking, you hid behind the stairs and held your breath.
"I shall call this, "LADY ELISE'S EXCELLENT TALENT!" Someone yelled.
"That's ridiculous," Niles replied. "All Elise did was make Leo crossdress..."
After their voices faded away, you crept away from the stairs and backed away until you felt something hit your back. You whipped around, only to see Leo standing there. You screamed and tried to attack him, but you missed.
"(Y/N)! Are you alright?" Leo asked.
"Vampire!" You hissed back.
Leo sighed. You attempted to attack him again, but Leo deflected your attack and disarmed you. "How did you find out?" He asked.
"The red drink. It had a coppery smell to it."
Leo looked at you. After a few seconds he began to laugh. You frowned. "Is something wrong?"
"Nothing... It's just that I didn't recognize the smell."
"What?"
Leo's face turned serious. "You are correct in the sense that my siblings and I are vampires. However, that wasn't blood. It's synthetic blood."
"Synthetic blood? What, are you guys like vegetarian vampires or something."
"That's ridiculous!" Leo replied. "We're not vegetarians! He took in a deep breath. "We drink synthetic blood so that we don't destroy our army."
You frowned. "Why would you destroy your army?"
"It's not that we would do it on purpose," Leo replied. "It's just that... Accidents happen, and rumors can spread easily. Many people in Nohr don't know that we are vampires. Only our retainers know... And so do you. I intend to keep it that way."
You slowly nod your head. "So... The synthetic blood calms your vampire urges?"
"It used to," Leo lamented. "But the alchemist who made it passed away, and his successor knows nothing about mixing anything properly. We tried to have Jakob make the blood once, but turns he didn't know how the original alchemist made it. While his mixture was okay, we had to drink a lot of it."
Silence filled the air. You sighed. "I'm sorry that I tried to stab you."
Leo shook his hand. "There's no lasting damage, and I refuse to report this to my siblings. We'll act as if this never happened."
You nod. "Thank you, Lord Leo."
Leo nodded and walked up the staircase. "Just go to bed, (Y/N). We'll talk more in the morning."
As soon as Leo had gone up the staircase, you walked up the staircase as well and went back to your room. Despite Leo's assurances, you were still slightly worried about your safety. However, you knew that Leo wouldn't kill you in your sleep, so there's that.
You opened the door to your room and close the door behind you. You shrug your cloak off and put it up. As you creased out a wrinkle, you felt a knife at your throat.
"Don't move... Vampire."
Reina: Oh my, a cliffhanger.
Takumi: *shakes head* Seriously, Reina.... Stop it with the cliffhangers!
Reina: I don't do cliffhangers as much...
Leo: *walks up* What about all of your other stories?
Reina: Uh....
Takumi: He got you there. *high fives Leo*
Reina: So the one time you guys get along is when you team up against me? *sighs* Typical....
