Chapter 5
Blasting from around the corner and startling Izuku’s little heart, was All Might. He was all muscled up and yelling. “A-All Might?” Izuku asked in bewilderment, “why are you here? You were surrounded by reporters until just now…” All Might stood in all his muscle glory and flexed at Izuku. “Because I am All Might—“
A small, but sudden, an explosion of blood shot from his smiling teeth with a loud cough. With a quick poof of smoke, the skeleton body of Yagi Toshinori appeared. Sighing is exhausting, Yagi wiped small drops of blood from his mouth and straightened up. It was time to talk to Izuku Midoriya about why he came to find the young greenette.
“Young man,” Yagi began quietly, “I come with thanks, a correction, and a suggestion. To begin, thank you.” Izuku’s eyes widened to see his idol talking to him in such a sincere manner. “That can’t be… It was my fault in the first place. I got in the way of your work—” Yagi stopped him. “It was because it was none other than the timid, Quirkless you at the scenes that I was able to act.”
Izuku listened.
“Top heroes have stories about them from their school days. Their bodies moved before they had a chance to think.” Yagi explained. Izuku’s head fell, his face timid. “For some reason, I remembered my mother’s words.”
‘I’m sorry Izuku! I’m sorry! I’m sorry!’
The words replayed and tugged hard at Izuku’s heartstrings. It pained him immensely and tears weld in his eyes. “Back then,” Izuku started again, “what I wanted you to say…”
“You can become a Hunter.”
Those five words broke Izuku’s resolve. The strength he was trying to keep a hold of left him and his knees buckled. With his body now cowering on the ground, Izuku cried.

Yagi Toshinori has his suspicions and this to confirm them. Izuku stood in front of Yagi with a pained expression. It had been a few weeks since their confrontation in the sunset. They had begun to start their 10 months of training a few days ago, but today Izuku came looking worse for wear. He was grabbing at his stomach, complaining that his gums had a tingling feeling to them and that his mouth wouldn’t stop watering for something he could identify.
It was all the first signs of a Fledgeling’s hunger. If not dealt with, Izuku would end up losing his mind and going on a rampage. How could Yagi brake it to this kid that he is a creature of the night? The thing he is training to kill?
“I don’t know what to do All Might,” Izuku fretted. “Young man,” Yagi lead Izuku away from the busy street and into the garbage heap that had become their training grounds. “You’re hungry. Hungry for something you won’t find very nice.” Yagi sat down, cross-legged, and usher Izuku to do the same. “That night I first met you… Do you remember that night?” Izuku nodded. “You were being attacked by a Vampire. A nasty one at that. He managed to drink some of your blood and infect the poison into your bloodstream before I could save you. The past few weeks, the hunger has slowly been building and you have been undergoing your transformation.”
Izuku couldn’t believe his ears. “You mean—” he couldn’t even say it. “Yes. You are becoming a Vampire.” Yagi allowed Izuku time to digest the information. It was a few minutes before Izuku spoke again.
“Am I going to have to eat other people?”
The innocence of the question made Yagi’s heart swell and laughter to flow from his thin lips. “No, Young Midoriya, you will not have to eat other people. You are currently a Fledgeling so your hunger can be subsided with simple animal blood. Though it won’t hold it off for long so you would have to drink it regularly.” Yagi explained with a kind-hearted smile. “Where would I even get an animal’s blood. I don’t want to have to attack a small animal…” Izuku trialed off worriedly. Yagi went on to explain that there are Vampiric foundations that supply animal’s blood for those who don’t wish to hurt others. This news lifted Izuku’s heart and made his a little more at ease about to problematic situation he had found himself in.
Yagi and Izuku spent the rest of their day in that spot. They sat in the sand, surrounded by trash and useless junk, and talked. Yagi explained all Izuku needed to know about Vampires. He said who to stay away from, what to avoid, the powers of a Vamp and that a Vampire needed human blood to become a full Vampire. Yagi explained the different levels of Vampiric power and how he was a Master Vampire, the highest level. Izuku didn’t want to know how he made it so high.
Dusk was fast approaching so Yagi decided it was time to take the young man home. “What am I gonna do about the hunger, All Might?” Izuku asked with worry creeping up his spine again. By that time, they had reached Izuku’s door. Yagi’s skinny hand reached back and pulled out two small juice boxes. “These are full of pig’s blood. Use them now and I’ll give you some tomorrow before school. I’ll wait for you outside the gates.”
Izuku held that promise and went inside his apartment. His mother welcomed his warmly and gave him a tight hug. Izuku didn’t let his mother see the juice boxes of blood. He couldn’t let her know of his newest development. After explaining to his mother how he had eaten dinner on the way home, Izuku snuck his way to his room. With the juice boxes now in hand, he sat on his made-up bed contemplating whether he should drink the pig’s blood. Izuku sat and weighed the pros and cons in his head until All Might’s warnings were remembered. With little to no hesitation, Izuku ripped the straw stuck to one of the boxes, stabbed the opening and downed the contents with haste.
As the crimson liquid passed over his taste buds, Izuku’s eyes rolled to the back of his head as pure ecstasy flood through his whole body. The tingling in his gums faded along with his hunger that had been gnawing at his stomach. Once he finished both containers, he had realized that his canine teeth were aching. Walking to his bathroom, Izuku stared at himself in the mirror. Once he opened his mouth, Izuku’s eyes widened at the sight of his elongated fangs that now sat in place on his canine teeth.
They were pearly white and sharp as a knife. Izuku reached his pointer finger up and lightly touched the tip of his left fang. A hissing noise left his lips next as he pulled his finger away. Blood seeped from the small puncture wound. Izuku spent the next hour marveling at his teeth but they eventually retracted back to normal sizes and Izuku decided this was the best time to go to bed. Izuku slept soundly that night, now a content feeling in his stomach instead of the constant irritation of hunger.
When Izuku woke the next morning, he felt more energized than he ever had in the past week. Hopping into the kitchen, Izuku found his mother humming away while cooking breakfast. The morning continued on pleasantly with a family breakfast and a happy goodbye as the younger Midoriya made his way to school.
Like All Might had said, Izuku spotted a skeletal man leaning against a concrete pillar holding up the green school gates. Yagi Toshinori watched student after student walk into the school as he waited for his green-haired successor. Some ignored him while others gave him weird looks. He didn't mind though. Eventually, Yagi caught sight of the baby-faced boy. Izuku raced over to Yagi and greeted him with a smile.
“Good morning, All Might!”
“Good morning, Young Midoriya…”
