Chapter 13

Teodor bit back a small frown and slowly nodded. He cleared his throat and shifted in his seat. "I hope that she learns to trust you as well, Your Highness," he said before he bowed his head, clearing his throat a second time. "Unfortunately, I do not see a... good future for us at all if you do not get her to trust you."

I hesitated and nodded, biting back a tired sigh before I moved a hand through my hair and across my face. "Of course," I said and slowly nodded while I pressed my lips into a thin line. "What else are you able to tell me, Teodor?" I asked and raised an eyebrow in question while I studied him. "Or can you not tell me for fear of our futures and changing what has already been written?"

Teodor hesitated before he shrugged and grimaced, pressing his lips into a thin line. "Unfortunately, I do not know what I will be able to tell you or not, Your Highness," he said and bowed his head in apology. "However, what I can tell you is that I can see that there will be a lot of tests between the two of you that will test your trust and how you react with each other."

The hair on the back of my neck stood at attention, and I narrowed my eyes and scowled. Warning bells went off in my mind, and I studied the male before me. My whole body grew tense while I stared at him, silently debating on whether or not I should ask him some questions that I had.

Teodor bowed his head lower and didn't say another word. His whole body grew tense, and I could tell that he was nervous about what I wanted to ask next.

"How much am I able to know without changing the future, Teodor?" I asked and raised an eyebrow in question while I cocked my head to the side and studied him, biting back a small frown. "Or is it not something you can discuss with me, period?"

"There is only so much that I can tell you and can't," Teodor said and shook his head. He cleared his throat and shifted in his seat while he looked at me. "I do not know what will change the future or not, so I do apologize for not wanting to say much, Your Highness." He bowed his head and submitted, silently praying that I would stop attempting to ask him questions before he lifted his head and offered me a tight smile. "I hope that you can forgive me."

I bit back a tired sigh before I slowly nodded and pursed my lips in annoyance. "It's fine," I said coldly before I cleared my throat and shifted in my seat. "I understand."

Teodor breathed a small sigh of relief and slowly nodded. "Thank you, Your Highness," he said, and he slowly started to relax before he cleared his throat and shifted in his seat. "Now, I would like to add that I do know that it isn't fine, and you do not like this, so I would like to apologize more for that, Your Highness." He bowed his head and looked down, not meeting my gaze.

I bit back a tired sigh before I slowly nodded, pursing my lips in annoyance. "Does the girl die young?" I asked and raised an eyebrow in question before I cocked my head to the side while I studied him, and Teodor was about to shake his head but stopped and cocked his head.

His eyes flashed a different color while he looked into the deep unknown before he blinked his eyes, and his eyes turned back to their normal color while he looked at me. "There is a chance that she will die," he said, and my heart grew still before it started to pound harder and faster in my chest. "However, I do not know if that will be a part of the main timeline, which is the timeline that we are on now, or if it will happen on one that has something else happen before it."

"And you can't tell me what had happened that caused it?" I asked and raised an eyebrow in question, and Teodor smiled a little before he shook his head.

"No, Your Highness," he said. He sighed and moved a hand through his hair before he cleared his throat and grew serious. "I wish I could tell you something, anything that will help you soothe the questions that are going through your mind, but I am not allowed to. I am afraid that it would lead to a much more dangerous path than what you have had to face and will have to face."

I scowled and narrowed my eyes further, and Teodor looked away from me, bowing his head ever so slIghtly. "You going in circles like this is not helping me at all, Teodor," I said coldly, and Teodor nodded in confirmation while he offered me a tight smile.

"I know, Your Highness" he said before he cleared his throat and shifted in his seat, "and I do want to apologize for it, but I have orders that I have to follow."

"From?" I asked and raised an eyebrow in question.

"The Gods," he said and moved a hand through his hair before he shook his head and pursed his lips in annoyance. "I have to follow orders from the Gods that we all serve, for it is not just the Moon Goddess that the Werewolves pray to or Selene that we mainly pray to."

I held back an eye roll and scowled because I knew all of this already. I knew about the Gods and the fact there were more than one God because of my position and from learning it from other species during my travels.

Which was another reason why some might feel my loyalty doesn't lie with the throne...

"And what does that have to do with anything, Teodor?" I asked and raised an eyebrow in question. "I know that there are different Gods and Goddesses that we all pray to and that some pray more to others than what other people do. Why are you bringing this up, Teodor, when you should know that I know that information?"

"Because of the God that some other Gods and Goddess are trying to keep hidden and out of people's view," Teodor said and bowed. He cleared his throat and shifted in his seat while he leaned back, and I could tell that he was nervous about what he was about to say next. "That is why I am nervous about telling you all of this information, and I wish I am not so nervous about talking about this with you, but unfortunately, I am."

"And who are you worried about?" I asked and raised an eyebrow, silently praying that he would be able to tell me that. "What God are you worried about that you do not want to tell me anything that will help me in my quest?"

Tedor debated with himself before he slowly nodded and looked me dead in the eyes, and I couldn't help but lean away from him while I stared at him with an open mouth, silently wishing I had not asked to know who it was.

However, I did, and I knew that I was going to have to face the consequences of it, whatever those consequences could be.

Oh Gods, please keep my people safe, I silently prayed while Teodor gathered himself. Please, because I do not want something to happen to them as soon as he says his name.

"Grand," he said and bowed his head before he lifted his head to look at me. "The person that you are supposed to fear is named Grand, and unfortunately, I do not know what will happen if you two cross paths until the time is right because it could mean that we have failed before we even had the chance to begin again."
