Lestat De Lioncourt

It was almost midnight, I had awoken from my much needed sleep. I slowly opened the lid of the coffin I had slept in, far too heavy for any mortal. I stretched and slowly climbed out of my coffin and closed it. I left my crypt and walked outside, the air was cool and crisp. The village of Auvergne was always lovely at night. Not many mortals were awake at this hour which gave me the advantage when it had come to hunting. But that evening I wasn't planning on feeding off of mortals. I had no need for it since I had satisfied my thirst the night before, enough to last a week.  That evening I was attending a ball at the chateau de lioncourt.

I wanted to do this, I just loved to pass for human. It allowed me to forget who I really was and it made me feel like I was a mortal again. I wore a beautiful dark blue ball gown and I paired it with a gold pendant and gold earrings. The same jewelry my mother had worn when she had first danced with my father. I never looked more beautiful. I had entered the chateau without anyone questioning me, it seems they had thought I was just like them, someone from the village.

Ah but the chateau, it was beyond anything I had ever seen. It's interior reminded me of the halls of my fathers castle, in a medieval fashion. How I loved it.

I walked into the ball room and there were hundreds of mortals dancing, musicians playing their instruments and others talking amongst themselves while drinking wine. I stood on the side watching everyone else dance. I was about to get myself a glass of wine when someone approached me. "Excuse me madam." said the voice. It had a slight french accent. I turned around to meet face of a man in his early 20s. His eyes were blue, his hair was blond and curly and just shoulder length, his skin was pale, and was dressed in light blue clothes. He was quite handsome.  "May I have this dance?" he asked. Stretching out a hand for me to take. I blushed slightly. "Of course." I said taking his hand. He led me to the center of the ballroom and together we waltzed around the room. I smiled as we danced. I never felt this much happiness in many years. When the music ended the man carefully dipped me and then brought me back up. Our faces just inches apart. "Come with me." he said. He took my hand and led me to a garden in the back of the chateau. There we walked together.

"It's beautiful." I said. The man smiled. "It is, and it has always been." he said before realizing something. "Ah forgive me, I have not introduced myself. I am Lestat de Lioncourt. And may I ask yours madam?" he said. "Mirena Rose Tepes." I replied. Lestat smiled. "Mirena, what a beautiful name..It is a pleasure to meet your acquaintance ma chere." he said and kissed my hand. I blushed. I spent the rest of my evening with Lestat. He was most kind to me, and he was the one mortal whom I seemed to be comfortable with, one I did not wish to harm.
