After Elena and a break-up with her, Damon was quite certain he would never fall in love again, not like how he fell for the Gilbert girl at least. She was his epic love, the one he was meant to be with yet she slipped from his fingertips, and it irritated Damon to the point where no other woman could interest him. But he didn't know how wrong he was, and how very convinced he would be of Elena definitely not being the right girl for him.

Because that was you.

When you arrived to Mystic Falls, happy to meet your cousin Matt once again, Damon set eyes on you and he never took them off again. Whenever you entered the room or even the building, he lost attention, didn't hear or see anything else, just you and your astonishing beauty. He thought you were the most gorgeous girl ever, and he knew he had to have you, in ways that weren't just caused by a silly crush.

He knew he had been hit by love again, and this time, it was serious and would never fade. Although at first, he did hope so. He tried to make the feelings go away, really. He hated the thought of himself being happy with someone else than Elena, and every time he was asked about her, he claimed to still be in love. And sure he was, but not with Elena - oh no way, Elena was long gone. She was a distant memory to Damon now, if even that.

All he could think of, was Y/N, Y/N, Y/N.

He tried to stop himself, though. He did his everything to feel otherwise about you, but the exciting tingle in his heart would not leave. Whenever you smiled or laughed, Damon did the same without another reason, and whenever you looked at him, he felt a pang in his dead heart and whenever he was close enough to do so, he just wanted to grab you and kiss you.

He tried to fake it, and he tried to break it, but in the end, he realized that he had fallen in love, and there was no getting out. It was like you had a spell on him. Which put him to pondering if you were a witch. But you weren't, and Bonnie hadn't played with Damon's feelings either, so the truth was - the Salvatore was in love, and deeply.

It took Damon some days to comprehend the overwhelming feelings in him, but once he got the grip of being in love again, he felt determined to make you his. He spent his days daydreaming about you, imagining a world where he could wake up next to you, and make you his famous vampire pancakes which would earn a roll of eyes and a slightly unimpressed, yet somehow amused chuckle from you. A world where he could come home to you, and give you a hot, but loving kiss. Every day.

He hated that it was just in his imagination though, so he decided that he needed to make you fall for him too. He just needed to see your gorgeous, heavenly face and incredible body, stunning smile and sparkling eyes every day. He needed you in his life.

"Hey, Y/N, would you like to, maybe, go out with me?", he asked when he just got the guts to do so. Damon wasn't usually very shy or awkward, but with you he was like another person anyway. With you, he blushed and showed everyone a side that no one had witnessed before. It was truly a wonder to see Damon stuttering and being all cute and shy, but you didn't know it, so you didn't think it was so special.

So when you said, "No", you shocked not only Damon, but everyone else present. It was obvious to them that the Salvatore was head over heels for you, but evidently not to you.

But Damon wasn't going to give up. He still had many cards up his sleeve.

"Man, you're in love."

Stefan's comment, that had become nearly daily, irritated Damon every time he said it. And every time, Damon also replied the same way.

"Oh really? Hadn't figured that out yet..."

And for days, Stefan took it, listened to it and left the matter untouched by him until he had enough and couldn't deal with it anymore. The same conversation they had had for at least a week now continued when instead of leaving Damon alone, Stefan sat down next to him on the couch he was usually on, and swung an arm over his brother's shoulders.

Sure the two argued a lot, but at times, they could act like the ideal brothers. Not many believed that or could see that, but it was true that Stefan cared about Damon, and it worked the other way around. And when Damon was this seriously in love, and not with Elena, Stefan was gladly helping.

"Damon, you need to ask her out. Yes, I know you already did - three times - and she said no every time, but first, you need to do something romantic, create a thing for you two, something you'll always remember her of. Make her feel special, make her smile, and then ask her out. Gotta warm her up first, brother", Stefan exhorted, while smiling widely. Damon shrugged, and agreed to do so, he was running low on options anyway.

But he did not like the fact that Stefan was telling him how to be with girls. He knew. He knew well. Just with you, he became weaker. You had a strong effect on him.

Eventually he did approach you again, and surprised you with gifts and made you feel special like Stefan advised. It seemed to work, until he asked you out again. It was yet another disappointment, really, since you ruthlessly shot down his attempts to ask you out. Your friends had tried to tell you to just be with Damon, but something about him made you unsure, and so you disagreed.

"Please go out with me?", he begged, but you just shook your head.

"Nah, I'm good."

That was when Damon had enough. "C'mon Y/N! I love you, I can't help it but I'm falling for you-- I already fell, and I can't get up. I want you, I want you badly and if you'd just... just go out on one date with me, I promise I'll make it worth your while but if you don't like it or like me, then I'll try to leave you alone. But you have to give me a shot, babe", he explained, looking into your pretty eyes with his own, somewhat sad ones. You bit your lower lip, but you did in fact say yes.

And as you did so, you didn't make just Damon happy, but everyone who completely supported the thought of you and him being together. This meaning most residents of Mystic Falls.

Damon was nervous when he got ready for your first date with him, mostly because he was fairly nervous of it being also the last date. He had promised to make it special, and that was how it was going to be. He was planning on driving you out of town, to somewhere beautiful where you two could just sit around with some wine and get to know each other better while enjoying the pretty view.

Stefan prepared him with a long talk, and Damon thought he was pretty ready when he finally stepped into his car and drove to your house. There you were, beautiful as always, and capable of taking Damon's breath away. After a quick, awkward hug, you got in his car and he drove you away of Mystic Falls and to a gorgeous hideaway he had found earlier that month. It was getting dark, and the sun was getting low so it looked beautiful on the edge of the town where he took you. You sat on his car, drinking and talking, and it was quite sweet, after all.

"So... It was pretty awkward when I said I love you. But it doesn't mean it's not true, because it is. Y/N, since I first saw you, I felt something in me clicking together. Like broken pieces of a heart, fitting together again. It sounds cheesy, and believe me, I'm not a cheesy guy but you make me want to be one of those movie characters that everyone falls in love with. I feel like I'm addicted to you, if that makes any sense. Like you're drug, and I can't help myself from taking it", Damon broke the silence eventually. You looked over to him, and your fingers intertwined as you felt actually very happy.

You didn't think it'd be Damon you'd be falling for, but hearing him say all that, it just melted your heart. At first, you had your suspicions but Damon didn't seem as bad as had been told, not at all. You actually grew to like him. And something more, too.

"Sounds like you don't even want to consider recovery", you chuckled.

"Nah, I'm good."

As Damon was driving his car back to Mystic Falls, he set his hand on your thigh, and made you smile wildly. Over the hours you had spent together, you had grown fond of him and you couldn't help but admit that he did make it worth your while. And for sure you were already falling for him. He was certainly charming.

"Stefan actually warned me about you beforehand. I hadn't even seen you, but he had, and he told me that I was going to fall in love, no doubt of it. You won't believe how smug he looked when I came home that night, and told him that I did in fact fall for the new girl. And he told me that I'm going to get addicted, and look where I am now", Damon then said, chuckling, and making you do the same. It was sweet, though. He was very sweet.

"And now you're getting me addicted, too. Damn you", you nervously giggled, hoping he'd take it as a joke only, but you revealed a bit of your feelings there too. And he didn't miss it. Because Damon was really in love with you, and he listened to every one of your words with both ears and paid all his attention to you whenever you said or did something.

"We're a couple of junkies, aren't we?", Damon teased, and you let out a bubbly laughter.

"That doesn't sound too flattering. But I guess so. I like you, Damon. I'm glad you forced me to go out with you", you teased back, and made him push your knee gently. You smiled and looked at him, and he looked at you, which was actually pretty dangerous but somehow he managed to handle the driving with ease.

"Now that doesn't sound very flattering, Y/N. I didn't force you into anything! I just very strongly suggested you'd go out with me and under the pressure you decided that was there, you agreed", he shrugged and took your hand, causing your heart to flutter but you didn't mind either.

"Whatever", you laughed, "Eyes on the road, Salvatore. Wouldn't want to get the girl killed on the very first date." Damon raised his eyebrows, and gave you a quick look before turning to the road again.

"So does that mean there's more dates to come?", he asked, but instead of answering, you laughed.

But yes, there were so much more to come for you two.

When Damon finally reached your house after the date, he walked you to your front door where you stayed standing, awkwardly but waiting for something to happen. It was getting chilly, and you breathed out heavy air and hugged yourself until you got the chance to hug Damon.

"So... I hope we can do this again. I don't think I can get you out of my mind after this... Happens every time, though. Whenever I see you or something, but whatever...", Damon stammered, and you chuckled, calling him an idiot before snaking your arms around his body and standing on your tiptoes to place your cold lips on his.

And it was a perfect match. They fit perfectly together. You felt right, and so did your lips on his - it was right. It felt like home. You didn't think you'd feel like that so soon, and with Damon, but you did. You were perfect for each other.

"Well, looks like everybody else can wait in line. My heart seems pretty taken at the moment", you blushed, and kissed his cheek quickly before going inside.

That night, the both of you fell asleep smiling. Starting from there, it was all smiles and sunshines for you two, really.
