Imagine that Kai, who is known as a psychotic killer, shows you how sweet and caring he can be when you get a migraine

You were pretty certain that Kai Parker was nothing but evil from the outside to the inside, a wicked soul with a poisonous heart, and no intentions to do anything good for anyone, ever. He was a villain, the enemy of Mystic Falls, and a murderer. You couldn't quite understand why villains were always so hot, though, and you quickly began harboring some kind of feelings for him, but the bad things he did kept you on the line between confessing and hiding the way you felt. And so you never talked about Kai unless it was something negative and mean.

Although he was quite attractive, you were sure that he'd cause you a killer migraine one day. You suffered from the painful headaches that migraine caused sometimes, and it was awful. There were long periods of time where you didn't have attacks at all, but sometimes they drowned you, and made living hard for you. Sometimes it was easy to treat, the headache and the dizziness and all the symptoms you experienced washed away with some painkillers, but other times, it wasn't that simple at all. It wasn't unusual for you to feel completely drained and like you were slowly dying for days, and often the pain got so huge you couldn't help but cry, hoping all the complaining and whining would help.

After weeks, maybe even months without any migraine attacks, you started to be scared. Whenever you survived this long without one, it meant that soon it'd hit you, hard. You had once fallen when the headache just crashed into you, and you felt like throwing up and fainting. You always carried some pills to ease the pain with you, though. Or at least you were supposed to.

On one Friday, you were in the Mystic Grill with Bonnie, Caroline and Elena. You had been feeling a bit off all day, and you had suspected it was the migraine that could very possibly soon hit you, but your friends made you feel less nervous and so you forgot about the whole feeling. But it started to swallow you, whole, and it took you a while, but eventually you understood what was coming. The symptoms started to come, one by one, and you nervously laughed at the jokes your friends made while you all ate, but you couldn't help but notice the flickering, the lights and the colors that you knew weren't there, except for you.

You looked down at your fingers, looking for the sign that always warned you, told you that it was happening, now, there and then. No going back. The migraine was about to hit you, hard. And you were sad to notice the way your fingers were blurry, how you couldn't see every detail of them anymore. You knew that in only potentially seconds, your head would feel like exploding, and it scared the shit out of you. You had been through it before, and especially now when it had been a while since your last attack, it was going to be hellish.

You looked up from your fingers, and smiled at your friends, until you spotted Kai freaking Parker sitting at one of the tables. Your smile faded, and you felt sweat forming on your forehead and hands, as you counted every heartbeat and aimed to calm yourself down but you were far too deep to stop the migraine now. You should have brought the pills, that was all you could think about, and you kept rudely blaming yourself in your mind as you pushed yourself up from the chair and excused yourself.

Your friends could see how you were stumbling and nearly fell down, but they didn't have the time to do anything else but look at you in worry when you had already hovered to the toilet where your body finally crashed down. You sat on the floor, your head against the wall, and listened to your own heavy breath. In and out, quickly but deeply, as if you were taking your last breaths. Your body shook, and you closed your eyes while your hands started to rub your temples. You wanted to vomit, and it was quite likely to happen too, concluding from previous experiences. You hated migraine, you hated it so much it couldn't be described with words, all you could do was groan out loud and draw attention to you. Every sound, and every light and just literally everything caused you to feel more and more pain and although it was always like this, you were pretty damn sure you were dying.

When the door of the toilet opened, you apologized for yelling while letting your head fall down against your pulled up knees, and feeling tears fill your eyes until they rolled down onto your cheek. You sniffled, and tried to get through the pain, but you knew you needed your pills to do that. But you couldn't walk, hell, you couldn't even get up, so you would just have to wait for someone to be kind enough to rescue you.

"Y/N? Holy f- Are you alright?", a concerned voice asked, and you shook your throbbing head, which only made the pain worse and caused you to moan in agony. You felt a hand on your leg, and then on your back, and you had to look up at the man who had come to you. You didn't expect to see Kai Parker, but that was exactly who had come down to his knees and was now holding you, worried about you.

"What is it?", he asked, trying to get your eyes on his, but with you crying and shaking and looking away all the time, trying to find somewhere to focus on, but also attempting to avoid the flickering colors in front of you, it was hard for Kai. He grabbed your face, gently, and gave you a concerned look, which made you understand that damn, this man does have feelings after all.

"Why do you care?", you asked through your endless sobbing, but continued right away, "I'm having a migraine, you idiot. My head is about to explode and I need my pills but I left them at home. I'm dying, Kai, at least it feels like it and I can't take it. I just-- please help me." The young man gave you a compassionate, warm smile, and caressed your hair before understanding how serious your headache, and all of it, must be.

"Is it that bad? Y/N, we have to go and get some medicine for you! It's perfectly okay to go out there, and ask for some from, I don't know, freaking Matt Donovan! You're suffering Y/N, and I hate that. C'mon, with me, we'll go together. It'll help, okay? Just come with me", he explained, and helped you up from the floor. You hiccuped, and nodded, as your head fell back down, ashamed. Kai's fingers intertwined with yours, and he started to walk you out of the bathroom. As soon as the two of you were back at the tables, people started to stare of course. Who wouldn't stare at a sobbing, shaking girl who was literally losing her mind?

Matt noticed too, and although he didn't like the way Kai Parker was hanging onto you, or you hanging onto him, he ran to you and touched your hot, aching forehead. He pressed a quick kiss to your temple, and promised to be right back with some painkillers and water, luckily for you. As you waited, you turned to look at Kai, who didn't hesitate wiping away your tears. With his soft thumbs, he dried your eyes, and made you smile weakly at the sweet gesture. He was capable of caring after all.

"Thanks", you whispered, but didn't have time to say more when Matt already returned. You swallowed the painkillers with the water he brought, and gave him a grateful look before going back to your friends. You explained to them how you had to go back home and get some sleep, and of course they understood, except for the fact why you were leaving with Kai.

"I'll take you home, Y/N. I don't want you to get hurt on the way. Hell, I'll even stay with you for a few hours if you'd like that. I could make you some soup or something", Kai had suggested, and you had accepted the offer. He didn't seem that bad, after all he helped you with the migraine and you knew how it would be safer for you to be around someone instead of being all alone. Migraines could get evil, you had experienced it.

"I know I can't exactly understand the pain you're feeling because I bet migraines are something way different than usual headaches or whatever. But I still want you to understand that I'm here Y/N, and I promise it'll get better. It always has, right? Just wait and the painkillers will start working and you'll feel nicer. Especially after a long nap and delicious soup I've learned to make", he chuckled. You did the same, and told him your address, which is where he drove you.

At your house, he made that famous soup of his for you, while you slept and relaxed a bit. When you finally got to eat, you experienced the best soup ever, and it made you feel a hell of a lot better, along with the pills that he kept on giving you as often as was healthy and safe. To make it simple, you understood that Kai wasn't all evil and dark from the inside. In fact, he was quite loving and caring when he just wanted to be. And you realized eventually, that he wanted to be like that whenever he was around you.

He made you feel better in all possible ways, and you forgot about the migraine quickly when he was around. It was one of the many attacks you were going to experience with him in your life, but he was always there to calm you down and help you.

And he was a major cuddler, and there was nothing better than his big warm hugs, even if you didn't have a headache.
