Imagine being a witch and helping Elijah which leads to a war between you and Davina, and obviously she's stronger so you start hiding with the help of Elijah who eventually realizes that he's head over heels in love with you

It wasn't very appreciated amongst witches if you went against your own kind, plotted something behind their backs, or especially, if you chose vampires over the witches that were considered your family. Even worse was if you happened to choose the side of Original vampires and offered them your services, but that was indeed what happened, after you fell in love with a very handsome, classy Mikaelson.

Everyone knew what kind of people the Mikaelsons were. Ruthless, even to their own siblings, mostly not worth your trust or the pain that they'd inevitably cause you at some point, but you couldn't stop yourself from feeling so fond over Elijah, the noble, attractive Original who stole your heart at first sight. From his smooth voice to his gentle hold on your arm as he stopped you from running to your death, you loved every single thing about him, and that alone would be enough for your fellow witches to slit your throat open. So you kept it a secret, knowing that the Mikaelsons were considered as villains, overall bad people, and being in love with one would only get you killed.

But it wasn't like hiding something as big as being in love with an Original and having an alliance with the lot of them was very easy. Especially when one of your witch friends worked with Marcel Gerard, the friend of Klaus Mikaelson, and therefore remained at a higher position, always capable of hearing rumors that sometimes proved to be true. And you were afraid that the secret of you being on the Originals' side would come out eventually, which it did, and it wasn't cute.

Klaus and Marcel had just recently found some kind of peace, although the plans of war still stirred in the hybrid's mind but so far, things seemed quiet. Maybe it was because Niklaus was planning something big, but at the moment, he didn't initiate any attacks and it gave Marcel and Davina, his trusted ally, the possibility to pay attention on other things. Which meant potentially catching you committing things you should never ever even consider for a split second.

While it was already terrible enough for you to be on the Mikaelsons' side, and therefore plotting against your witch friend's best friend and some kind of a father figure, witches were also not allowed to do any magic in New Orleans, and that was another rule you broke quite actively.

"Someone's practicing magic", Davina spoke on one day, standing up from her bed as she looked at Marcel with a serious expression written on her face. Marcel nodded, a suspicion already tingling in his heart, and he turned on his heels to stride to the exit, ready to leave and find whoever was breaking his rules, but he had barely time to take the first step when Davina stopped him. She caught up with him, and placed a hand on his arm while their eyes locked and she gave a disappointed, yet angry look at Marcel.

"Not just someone. I know who it is. I'm coming with you on this one", Davina spoke to Marcel, not taking any arguments, and therefore didn't stay to listen Marcel's disagreeing. She stepped out of the church attic, and headed towards the witch she had located, Marcel following right behind.

And they were heading straight to you.

"Thank you, Y/N, truly. I appreciate everything you have done for me and my family."

Elijah's words were enough to bring a genuine smile to your pink lips. You nodded, and got up from the floor where you had performed a locator spell for Niklaus who needed to find someone you didn't really care about, but you had chosen the winning side on the upcoming war and that meant doing whatever they asked you to. They needed a witch on their side, and now they got it, although you knew that the previous witches on their team had died painfully but this way, you also got to be close to the love of your life and for him, you would have died as well.

"No problem, I--", you began, but couldn't finish, when the peace in the house had been broken by the front door that flew open. You and Elijah stormed to the entrance to see who bothered you like this, and shock appeared to your face when you saw Davina Claire, the girl you remembered as a friend, but would now have to see as a foe. She wasn't supposed to catch up on your secret rendezvous with the Mikaelsons, or find out any of your secrets, really, but now all the cards were on the table for her to see. The truth was out there, especially when Elijah protectively hid you behind his back, and from the spiteful look on Davina's face you could tell she wasn't there to talk about the months that had went by.

"Marcel, what is this?", Elijah asked from the vampire at the door, unable to enter the house, unlike Davina who took threatening steps towards you. Marcel could only apologize, not very truthfully though, when Davina had swiped her hand to the side, causing Elijah to fly into the wall with the powerful magic the young witch had in her. She was a lot stronger than you too, and you knew that if you'd engage in a fight, you'd obviously lose and therefore you tried to talk your way out of the mess you had created ever since you first knocked on the Mikaelsons' door.

"You traitor. I thought we were friends. But you betrayed not only the witches when you changed sides, but you've been plotting against me and Marcel all this time, haven't you? I trusted you, but apparently I was a fool to do so", Davina spoke, her voice shadowed with fiery anger, and you didn't know what to do about it. Desperate tears filled your eyes - you knew you had screwed up, and your death was near, and it caused you to cry as you looked at the young girl with amazing powers, that she would gladly use on you.

"No, Davina, please listen to me! I can explain--", you tried, going with familiar excuses everyone always used, but you meant each word. You didn't want to be Davina's enemy, but she clearly disagreed, and interrupted you by twisting her hands to make you drop to your knees. It felt like your insides were on fire, like your bones tried to break through your skin, like your skin wanted to crawl off, and it made you cry out in pain while clawing at your chest, aching for the misery to end. You looked at up her, trying to make her see that you weren't a bad person, wanting her to see the little Y/N that used to play with her every day, but instead of a warm smile, you were greeted with an infuriated, emotionless, cold stare.

"You've been stupid, Y/N. I'd really like to know, what drove you to choosing these monsters?", Davina spat, and you felt the urge to roll your eyes, because after all she was closer with a vampire than she was with anyone else. She turned her back on you first, she chose Marcel over you, yet she had the audacity to blame you for the mistakes she had done as well. "I will destroy you. This is war, between you and me", Davina added, angrier than ever, and man, it scared you.

You felt like you were literally dying. Maybe you were. But Elijah stopped it, by pushing Davina down, and after he had taken you on his arms, he ran like hell.

With his inhuman speed, he got away from the house, and took you to the woods nearby where he set you down, and you could lean on the nearest tree while sobs broke free from your mouth. Elijah frowned, not wanting to see you so sad, but he didn't know what to do about it. He let you cry for a moment, but then he walked over to you, and pulled you closer to him as he wrapped his arms around you gently. He held you, and you cried against his chest, too sad to realize that you were actually this close to him, though you did notice how wonderful he smelled.

"Don't you worry, Y/N. I promise I will protect you. It is my fault you're in this situation, anyway. I will take care of you, keep you safe, hide you until things get better and you will no longer have to fear", Elijah declared, and cupped your cheeks, lifting your head so he could look down into your eyes. You shivered, but let his large hands support your head as you locked eyes, feeling his intense gaze meet yours and making your heart beat faster.

"I promise, Y/N", he spoke once more, smiling fondly, before hugging you again.

And he kept his promise. He took you somewhere he hadn't visited in a long, long time - Mystic Falls. His family had a mansion there, with only a few vampires invited in, and he made a few deals with the locals to make sure your safety was ensured. While Klaus and Rebekah stayed in New Orleans to battle against Marcel and his army of vampires, and one particularly nasty teenage witch, Elijah remained in the small town in Virginia, with you.

It wasn't only a place of safety for you, but also an opportunity for you to get closer with Elijah. After all, most of your time was spent with him now, due to him keeping you under his protection at all times. And for someone who was running and hiding from an enemy, you certainly enjoyed your days in Mystic Falls. It was a charming town, with even more charming people, and you quickly bonded over the strangest things with everyone, from Matt Donovan to Damon Salvatore.

"How are you today?", Elijah asked when he arrived home from a task he considered necessary but too brutal for your pretty eyes. He and the Salvatores didn't get along apparently, so Elijah had no issue with threatening their loved ones to get what he wanted - which kind of fascinated you. In New Orleans, you had been introduced to a classy man who always held his siblings back from unnecessary violence, yet he seemed to own a darker side, as well. But instead of scaring you away, it only caused you to become more attracted.

You stood up from the seat in the living room, putting down the book you had picked up from the impressive bookshelf in the mansion, and you walked over to Elijah who greeted you with a kind smile as he set his jacket in the closet. You shrugged, and devoid of words, you just looked at his stunning eyes and the soft skin that you wanted to touch with such fondness, adoring each of his features like he was a god. Elijah's eyes met yours, and he continued to smile until the silence just lasted for far too long and he cleared his throat to get your attention.

"Oh! Uh, I'm good, I've been reading all day", you stammered and looked down as an embarrassed shade of pink covered your cheeks. Elijah immediately brought his finger underneath your jaw, and lifted it until your eyes were locked again, and your breath was taken away by the intense gaze he offered you. You froze, and not a word came out of your mouth as Elijah's hold remained on your skin, making you shiver silently while you swallowed thickly and waited for the situation to go somewhere. You didn't know what to expect - a part of you was dreaming of a first kiss, but you were too shy to make the first move, so you waited for him to take control of the moment but instead of leaning down to your mouth, he let go.

"Forgive me", Elijah cleared his throat, and made you sigh in disappointment but he didn't notice. "I was thinking I could take you out tonight. I mean, uh, Tyler Lockwood is having a party this evening and I was wondering if you'd like to attend. All this time indoors can get tiring", he suggested, and walked deeper into the house. You followed, and nodded your head, accepting his offer gladly. He was right, you were kind of bored, after being inside for days but you also understood why going out was a bad idea. It was dangerous, and he didn't want to do anything stupid, but it was unlikely that you'd be attacked in a party full of innocent people.

  Unlikely, yet possible...

"I'd love to", was all you could breathe out, the thought of being so close to Elijah still lingering in your mind. Would you and him ever kiss, or were you just misunderstanding your relationship with him?

The Lockwood mansion was filled with neon lights and party music, while people swayed from room to room with drinks in hand and the sight made you grin. You had never been to a party like this, you had only attended a couple of fancy dances but this was the complete opposite. The people were crazy, wild, and you couldn't wait to get a taste of the mood.

"Y/N! Glad you could make it", you heard a familiar voice, and you turned around to see Tyler who gave Elijah a judging look, but the werewolf knew he was protecting you, so he dropped his gaze and turned back to you with a wide smile tugging up his lips. "You look amazing", Tyler added, and gestured towards the tight dress you had found from Rebekah's dresser. You blushed, and thanked him for the sweet words while patting his shoulder and walking inside with Elijah.

"See, just like I said. No reason to feel insecure", Elijah smiled assuringly, and wrapped an arm around your waist to hold you close to him, causing you to gasp but in the middle of all the loud music, he probably didn't notice. You shook your head, and ignored his comment, but you knew he was speaking the truth. You had been suspicious about wearing such a short, stunning dress, but it only flattered each inch of your body and you looked like a goddess. You disagreed, but after hearing not only Elijah, but Tyler and a bunch of others compliment you, you started to feel confident.

"So, tell me. Do Original vampires dance?", you asked when a new song started to play. You tilted your head to the side, and offered Elijah a curious smile, at which he chuckled but then he grabbed your hand, and twirled you around, giving you an answer. You laughed, and moved to the dance floor with him, your bodies moving perfectly along the hypnotizing beat. The song was nothing like what you expected Elijah to listen to, but he seemed to work with it well, and he managed to make your head spin with the incredible dance moves. It wasn't too filthy, but it certainly wasn't traditional classy dancing either.

The song took you away, and only when it ended, you realized how close you and Elijah were. Somewhere in the middle of the lyrics, he had pulled you closer, and you could almost taste the warmth radiating off of his plump lips, while your hands had messed up his nicely styled hair and his large palms were against your hips. It was quite hot, and it surprised you so much you had to pull away, not sure what else to do, since you weren't used to such intense situations, especially with Elijah.

In an instant, you began regretting pulling away, but Elijah had taken a step back as well and it was too late to go back. He cleared his throat, and gave you an apologetic look, before deciding to go and get drinks for you two. You sighed, and when Elijah had disappeared into the sea of people, you let out a disappointed groan. It was starting to seem like you and him would never get a chance at deepening your relationship, and you were starting to get desperate. You had been waiting for so long.

While Elijah was getting the drinks for you, you chatted with Elena, Bonnie and Caroline. Stefan came to offer you a drink, but you turned it down, although you knew you definitely needed to get wasted as soon as possible or else you wouldn't get through all of the awkwardness. You waited patiently, leaning against a wall and tapping your feet against the floor along the music, but minutes turned into dozens of them and you started to feel like Elijah wasn't coming back.

Had he found another girl to dance with? Had something more serious, fatal happened?

You could only straighten your back and take the first step, when you heard a loud crash and people screaming. You were alarmed, and you knew something was wrong but you couldn't move - you froze. You were too shocked to even think straight, so you only stood there and watched how people were taken down, one by one, until there would be none left. You were worried for your friends, or would have been if you could have, but your body didn't listen to you and you just let shocked tears stream down on your cheeks as you watched Davina make her way through the Lockwood mansion until she spotted you.

"Y/N!", Davina yelled angrily, and started to stride towards you. Tyler tried to stop the witch from coming over to you, but it was easy for the powerful girl to snap the werewolf's neck and leave him lifeless on the floor. She stepped over bodies, until she was face to face with you, and you were looking into the eyes of a cold enemy who could, and would, easily slaughter you.

"Did you really think I wouldn't find you?", Davina spat, making you shake your head while tears continued to flood out of your eyes.

"Please don't do this", you tried, but didn't have time to continue when you felt your body being taken. A pair of strong arms wrapped around you, and with inhuman speed, you fled the mansion and it took you only seconds to realize you were pressed against Elijah's chest. Elijah took you to his house, leaving the bloodbath behind, and hoping Davina and Marcel weren't following.

"Elijah!", you gasped when he set you down. You were back in the Mikaelson mansion, and you dropped to your knees, breathing rapidly while wiping your eyes. Your body felt heavy, but your heart weighed the most, with guilt and regret and god, how you hated it. You didn't want to feel this way, you didn't want to be in love anymore, it was all just too much trouble. You hated feelings, and you wished you were a vampire so you could just ignore them all, flip it off, but instead you were a witch who took the wrong path. You made wrong decisions, yet they all felt so right, and that only made everything so much more difficult. You weren't supposed to want to help the vampires, but you did, and you weren't supposed to dream of feeling Elijah's lips against yours, but you did.

"Fuck", you breathed out, and covered your face with your palms, surprising Elijah with your language. He had never before heard you swear, but now was certainly the right time to do it for the first time. You looked around, recognizing the familiar rooms, but even being in his house was wrong, and you knew it. But still, it felt so right. You felt like you were home, right where you belonged.

Elijah helped you up, and wrapped his arms around you, closing you tightly against his body and not wanting to let go. You tried to struggle free from his hold, knowing it was wrong to be there against him, but the thing was, he seriously did not want to let you go. Ever.

"Elijah, let me go", you fought, and tried to pull away, but instead of dropping his hold, Elijah placed one hand on your cheek and pulled you closer to him. Your lips crashed together, and you melted into the touch, not wanting to go away anymore. You relaxed, and your expression softened as you hungrily grabbed his face and pushed your lips harder against his. It was deep, frustrated, intense and it was easy for you both to tell that you had been holding it back for a long time. You moaned softly, and Elijah stumbled forward until your back met the wall and you were closed between the two.

His soft lips tasted and felt just like you had imagined them. Your eyes were closed, and so were his, and your bodies moved flawlessly against each other, his hands caressing your skin and gripping your waist while yours messed up his hair again. It was more intense than you could have ever imagined, but you didn't complain, if anything, you loved it with all of your heart.

"I promise", Elijah breathed out when his lips disconnected from yours. His hands cupped your cheeks, and his forehead rested against yours, and you opened your eyes to look into his with pure fondness and affection. "I promise to keep you safe, always. We'll run together. I will never leave your side, and I will never, ever, let Davina Claire get you. I will protect you, even if it's the last thing I do", Elijah whispered, and pressed a soft, quick kiss on your lips. You nodded your head, and placed your hand on the back of his head, holding him gently while smiling against his mouth.

"I love you. I always have", you admitted, and Elijah chuckled quietly.

  "I love you too."

And he did as he promised. He always took care of you, protected you and kept you safe. And although it took plenty of time for everything to be over between you and Davina, it ended eventually, and Elijah never left your side. Eventually, you got your happily ever after, of which you had dreamed ever since you first saw him.
