Imagine having an argument with Jeremy and raising your hand to slap him but he pushes you against the wall and stops you, saying "Wanna try that again, sweetheart?"

The sound of glass violently shattering rang in your ears, and you instinctively brought both of your palms against them while looking down at your toes, pulling into your own shell, ready to protect yourself. You stood subdued by the noise and the attempt to earn dominance in the battle you were having with Jeremy Gilbert, and man, that attempt was good enough, because you no longer attacked with sassy remarks, and your silver tongue no longer shined under the anger that burned hot in his dark eyes. Your hands were behind your back and you were still looking at the floor, scared to look up at him after the outburst that he finished by grabbing the nearest framed picture and smashing it onto the parquet. Only the remains of the photo peeked from underneath the shards and bits of glass, revealing your face, but not the one next to yours.

You swallowed thickly, and after the lump in your throat had drowned, only to weigh down on your heart for now, you looked up at Jeremy who was breathing heavily. His body moved with each inhale and exhale, and he was visibly angry at you, with his knuckles white and his expression stern and each inch of him tense and something to fear. You knew he wouldn't hurt you, but a part of you wanted to hurt him, for treating you like a little child, but that small part of you was nothing compared to the reasonable side of you that warned you, causing you to step aside and remain at a safe distance from Jeremy who was standing in the middle of the glass, his eyes nailed to the picture which you had spotted as well.

"What you did was stupid", Jeremy started speaking, his voice hoarse, so he cleared his throat before slowly averting his eyes and locking them with yours. You shivered at the coldness in his dark intense eyes, and you grew uncomfortable but forced yourself to look back into his eyes with bravery, while your hand went to move your hair from your face and he did the same for himself. "You could have died", Jeremy continued, his voice shaky yet somehow so calm, and you knew, he didn't mean to scare you nor upset you - he was trying to protect you, and that was all he ever wanted for you, safety and happiness.

So perhaps you shouldn't have fought at this point. No more, right? The fight was over, he ended it, and you had to suck up the facts and let him have the victory instead of being stubborn and throwing more gasoline into the slowly dying flames. But that wasn't you, especially not now, in the heat of the moment, so you gave in to the need to burn with the fire he was standing in and opened your mouth which was a potential mistake, but he knew how to deal with such.

"Oh, stating the bloody obvious, are we? Well, let me carry on. You're treating me as if I'm some child, who can't take care of herself. You're being a major dick, and I'm really at that point where I'm about to kick your ass, put you in the back of my car, drive to another state and leave you at someone's doorstep with a pretty little bow on your head just to get rid of you", you fired back, sparking the fight again, picking it up where Jeremy nicely left it. He sighed loudly, and you lifted your fists, ready to swing a punch at his face, but he aimed to handle the situation calmly and therefore suggested you'd put them down and relax.

But you couldn't relax. You were absolutely furious, because you had thought you were past the whole little girl thing, but obviously Jeremy still struggled to let you live like the grown ass woman you were. You weren't a vampire, but you did use to hunt them with Jeremy himself, so you expected him of all people to know how awesome you were and how well you got along without someone breathing in your neck 24/7. But, you turned out to be wrong, because when you took out some old guns and decided to blow off the dust by killing a few bloodsuckers hanging by the border of Mystic Falls, Jeremy came to interrupt with Elena's help and it made you truly annoyed.

How was Elena better than you, at all? She was a vampire, sure, but you killed vampires and that already proved that you could survive on your own.

"I promised I'd protect you. I promised him, I'd always keep you safe", Jeremy spoke up then, quietly, but audibly, although you wished for the opposite. You didn't want to hear the mention of your ex-boyfriend, the very person in the picture which Jeremy, and now you, was staring with concentration. It was hid under the glass that he broke in anger, the photo you had taken with Stefan Salvatore on your second anniversary in a hideaway you always sneaked out to in the middle of the night or when walls came down on you. You were happy, but then he decided to just leave town and leave you behind.

You had moved on, somehow, at least. You didn't burden yourself with the thought of what could have been, because Stefan was in the past, and you lived in the present where you were surrounded by people who loved you, in Mystic Falls, your home. Stefan wasn't a part of that picture anymore, yet the memories of him lingered around, but you didn't think about him. But, the mention of him, and the promise he forced Jeremy to make, it angered you, frustrated you and made you want to cry your eyes out.

At first, you weren't even told about the promise, but Caroline couldn't hold it in. She had heard Stefan talking to Jeremy just minutes before leaving, and he made Jeremy promise that he'd keep you safe, he'd keep you happy and he'd protect you. And of course, more things were involved, but the idea was to keep you under protection, and instead of feeling lucky and smiling at the nice thought, you hated it.

"Don't bring Stefan into this", you warned Jeremy and lifted a finger, not wanting to go through with it. "He had no right to put so much weight on your shoulders. And I don't want you to keep on carrying it. I want you to move on, because that's what I did", you murmured and gave Jeremy a sad look. You liked Jeremy, he meant a lot to you but he had been pulling dick moves and using the promise as an excuse and you could see him slowly falling apart, but pretending to be strong and badass. And maybe he was, but protecting you did no good for him nor you, so you didn't care for it.

Jeremy sighed, and so did you. You approached him, and gave him a careful, hopeful smile. "You know I'm good at hunting things, saving people... So let me do it, Jer, please. I know how to take care of myself, and you could join me, you could help me!", you tried, and looked into Jeremy's eyes, but you couldn't say more when he had already made the decision.

"No", he sharply stated and looked up into your eyes, anger flaming in them again. You opened your mouth, but when no words came out, you shut your jaw and clenched it angrily, your fury clashing with Jeremy's, and just like that, the intensity and the tension was back and about to snap under the weight and pressure of your fight.

You weren't sure what came over you, but suddenly, you couldn't handle it anymore. You lifted your hand, and got ready to bring it across Jeremy's face, but you had barely moved an inch when he had swiftly lifted his own, and wrapped it around your wrist, locking you from doing whatever you aimed to. You gasped at the feeling of his strong hand around you, and his knuckles turned white while squeezing your wrist, stopping you from moving and you could feel your bones aching under his tight hold. Your eyes moved over to his, honestly in slight fear, but his expression didn't match. He looked just as serious and stern as he did a moment ago, and continued to do so as his body met yours, shutting the distance in between. You gasped again, and Jeremy pushed you against the nearest wall, stumbling over the broken glass to press into you and close you against the wall and his body.

Sharp pain spread out in your back because of being smacked into the wall so harshly, but you were in no position to complain. The pain quickly vanished though, and other feelings came to replace it, while your heart continued to beat fast in your chest that was tightly against Jeremy's. You drew in a hasty breath, as if you were taking your last ones, and your eyes glanced at your wrist that was still locked in Jeremy's hand tightly, as if he'd never let go. You looked back to him, and your eyes met his, causing you to shiver under the intense stare and once again you swallowed loudly, feeling somewhat intimidated yet oddly, or perhaps not oddly at all, quite flattered and turned on by his unexpected mood swing. You had never seen Jeremy like this, and it was only the beginning.

Jeremy moved his head just slightly, and you found yourself holding in your breath while his lips barely touched your ear, but remained there as they parted. "Wanna try that again, sweetheart?", his husky voice was gentle to your ears, and made you want to melt and swoon right on his arms. Your legs turned weak, and your heart probably left out a beat or more as Jeremy slowly lifted his head back and looked into your eyes, making you feel the urgent need to place your lips on his. And you weren't sure why you shouldn't, so you grasped the moment and decided to enjoy it at its finest. When would you ever get another chance like this?

"No, but I want to try something else", you spoke, and yanked your wrist away from Jeremy's hold to press your warm palm against his soft cheek, cupping it as you slowly leaned in. Your slow, gentle way wasn't Jeremy's preferred way though, so he pinned you against the wall and did the same for your arms, holding you down by your wrists for a second before wrapping an arm around your waist, scooping you as close to him as only possible while he lowered his head and smashed his lips onto yours. You let out an adoring sigh while Jeremy's free hand went to your thigh when you lifted your leg and wrapped it around his waist. You did the same with the other one, and so you ended up on Jeremy's waist while he was positioned between your legs, pressing you tightly against the wall as his hands crept up your thighs.

The kiss was hot, to say the least. Your noses kept touching and you were both panting heavily as your lips hungrily kissed, wanting more and more, never settling or slowing down for a second. Your eyes were shut while you continued to make out against the wall, and blindly you attempted to undress Jeremy from his shirt, which you managed to do by simply tearing the fabric off of his gorgeous body. Your hands touched his warm body, adoring the muscles and feeling weak under his large posture, subdued like you did in the fight. His hands were on your hips, and he was holding you steadily while his mouth enjoyed the victory over yours, and his teeth tugged on your lower lip while he did his everything to make you both enjoy, and damn, he certainly succeeded.

The tension and frustration from the fight unloaded into the kisses that didn't seem to have an end, until you tore your lips from his and leaned your head against the wall while your hands rested on his bare chest. "The bedroom, maybe?", you managed to speak up, and Jeremy's confused look turned into a mischievous grin as he started to carry you.

"Stefan will hate me", Jeremy pointed out, somewhat proudly. Because after all, the promise Jeremy made didn't include just keeping you safe and happy - he also wasn't supposed to fall in love with you or seduce you, but turns out, it was quite impossible.

Well, at least now, you didn't fight.
