Imagine getting drunk with Klaus on New Year's Eve

"Have you two been at this all bloody day?"

Rebekah's judging voice rang through your ears, but your levels of care didn't reach far enough so you just continued to move your head along the loud music while sipping on a beer. It was New Year's Eve, and just like Rebekah guessed, you and her brother Niklaus, your best friend, had been drinking since the morning. 2015 had been tough on you both, and you decided to get wasted to have fun and forget the bad memories. You wanted to start off a clean table, and make 2016 your year, whether it'd happen together or apart.

But apparently, Rebekah disagreed with your plan. So did Elijah.

"You're hammered", he smiled sarcastically, "lovely", and grabbed your beer, earning a whine from you. You gave Elijah a pout, but he didn't even blink, just stared back at you coldly and in sole disappointment. He and Rebekah had planned to celebrate, have the whole family, and you, together at the house and being close as always but instead you and Klaus got drunk. But it was so much fun.

"I'm not as think as you drunk I am", you defended yourself, but failing awfully and earning judging glares to your direction.

"Give the bloody bottle back, 'Lijah", Klaus grunted then, shooting his brother a glare. He didn't want to see you sad or upset, he only wanted you to smile no matter what and he had made it his mission to make sure you'd always be happy. You were lucky to have him, really, and he felt the same way about you. It was a beautiful connection and a strong bond between you and him, impossible to break although the pressure was sometimes highly impressive. But he loved you enough to intimidate Elijah to a point where he handed the bottle back to you and you couldn't help but smile in wild amusement.

"I can't believe you two are getting drunk on New Year's Eve. Does your foolishness ever hit a limit? You could have at least waited until the evening", Rebekah ranted, shaking her head while sighing loudly at you and Klaus who wrapped his arm around you lazily. Rebekah continued to lecture you two but neither of you bothered to listen or pay attention, you just leaned against each other and giggled while sipping on your beers.

"Are you quite finished? Y/N and I have better matters to attend than listening to you mewl", Klaus said, breaking into a loud laughter while getting up and pulling you up with him. "C'mon love, let's go", he whispered to your ear, and before hearing Rebekah or Elijah say anything, the two of you stumbled outside where your laughs only increased with volume and amusement. You swayed from side to side, looking like you were from a movie as you started to make your way to the bell tower of the French Quarter with a bag of fireworks hanging on Klaus' other hand. You aimed to have fun, dangerous kind of fun but that happened to be also the best kind.

It was already dark outside, and fairly chilly but your state was too hazy anyway to realize the goosebumps rising or the coldness that slowly wrapped you up. Klaus' presence warmed you up though, the way he held you close with his arm thrown over your shoulders was so simple yet effective. You smiled as you glanced at him, curls a bit sweaty while a clearly intoxicated look painted his features, and a drunk but still so incredibly attractive smirk tugged his lips up in a rather boyish manner. He was so handsome, you weren't sure how to cope but you tried to remind yourself that he was your best friend and even though you had a strong bond, making out could either build it up or allow it to completely fall apart. And that was why you didn't take the risk.

The thought didn't cross your mind once, but he considered you equally attractive. He loved the way your eyes crinkled slightly when you laughed, tilting your head back and touching the left side of your chest automatically. He loved your beautiful smile, and how he could make it appear with a single word if he wanted to. He loved the way your hair smelled, the way your body looked flawless no matter what you were wearing, the way you confided in him and trusted him, and the way you were so relaxed and fun to be around but still capable of long deep conversations late in the A.M. So, it was safe to say he loved you. But he had never told you, and he wanted to keep it that way but being drunk did wonders.

"Let's set them off here", you spoke up when you reached the bottom of the bell tower, and glanced at the dark night sky, waiting to be blown up and ripped like a canvas on one of Klaus' paintings. "You should paint the stars one day, Nik", you decided to point you, speaking your thoughts bravely while grinning crookedly. You turned to look at Klaus who grinned back at you while going through the bag of fireworks until he found a proper one to kick off the long night that had only just begun.

"Perhaps, love", he replied softly, his voice sliding smoothly and causing shivers to go down your spine. You licked your dry lips briefly, and pushed your hand to your pockets to protect them from the cold, while Klaus made it his mission to launch the fireworks and send them to the dark starry sky. He drew out a match, and after lighting it he brought it to the firework and ignited it with ease. He blew out the match, and walked over to you, wrapped his arm protectively around your waist as you looked up to the sky to see the firework go off.

Swirling in many colors and shapes, it succeeded on impressing you, and you craved to see more, so you gave Klaus your beer and went to light one up. You stuck it in the snow, ignited it, and waited for it to go off while walking back to Klaus, but only a few seconds later it fell on the snow and pointed at the two of you which alarmed the hybrid. He grabbed you tightly, and jumped up to the top of the bell tower where you panted heavily at the realization of a near death. Well, you were a vampire, but it would be painful nonetheless.

"You goddamn...", Klaus murmured, while the firework shot off and went on its own ways, not obeying the first direction you aimed it at nor caring about anyone's safety. Luckily you and Klaus were safe in the tower, under the top, on each other's arms.

"I think I did well!", you protested and walked a few steps away from Klaus, only to be interrupted by a distant explosion. You shut your mouth, and looked down as you stood corrected which made Klaus grin widely. He approached you again, and placed his hands on your waist, causing you to draw in a sharp breath and hold it in instead of exhaling. His fingers dug into your body, but it wasn't painful, if anything you loved it. His eyes looked down to yours, and his smirk faded when he started to lean down, wanting to push his lips onto yours and kiss the fucking life out of you.

You were surprised, and scared, and therefore you pushed him gently away and looked down to avoid eye contact. "I'm drunk, but I can tell this is a bad idea nonetheless", you shrugged and gave him an apologetic look. He nodded, understanding, or at least wanting to but it hurt like a bitch to be rejected by you. Finally he found the courage to make a move, only to be shot down, get his dead heart torn out of his chest. That was what it felt like, at least.

"Oh, happy 2016, Nik!", you then cheered loudly when the clock informed you of midnight by banging right at your ears. The both of you covered your ears, and laughed, and just like that the awkwardness was long gone. You looked at the fireworks, and remained close to each other, when suddenly you got a wild idea.

Call it a drunk person's imagination, I guess.

"Watch this", you grinned, and threw one of your legs over the edge of the tower. Whatever you were doing caused panic to wash over Klaus, and he gave you a frightened look but the intoxicated side of him wanted to go with it, have fun and enjoy the immortal life and the limitless possibilities you had right at your hands.

You gripped the edge tightly, and screamed happily while defying your own safety by playing on the other side, threatening to fall but not doing so. Until, obviously, your hand slipped and the screams of joy and freedom changed into horror when you understood you were falling. And fucking fast, one might add.

You closed your eyes, ready to feel the sharp pain and then the victorious darkness. But it never came. Instead of smacking against the pavement and dying on the spot, you fell into a pair of strong but gentle arms, that held you tightly and safely. You opened your eyes, and you were more than just happy to see Klaus, your guardian angel, standing there with a smirk on his pink lips. He set you down to your feet, but your eye contact remained, the both of you silent as you gazed at each other fondly. At that very moment, it was known by the both of you that the time was right and there would never again be a perfect chance like this. So for the hell of it, Klaus picked up his confidence and pride that died the second you rejected his kiss and went for it again.

"I think I've earned the damn kiss", Klaus let out, and wrapped his arm around your waist to swoop you closer. Your lips touched his, and it was something so hot and sexy yet fond and caring - the perfect combination that felt almost impossible. It blew your mind, took your breath away, and you thought you'd never have enough of the taste of alcohol on his sweet lips or the movements he made while placing his large hand softly on your cheek. It felt so flawless, from the way his mouth felt more or less perfect against yours to the way he held you close to his body and touched you so softly. It was flawless.

"Damn right you have", you sighed adoringly when the kiss broke only to engage in another intense, drunk meeting of lips.

2016 was going to be great for you two.
