Imagine being pregnant with Damon's baby

The silent house in which you resided echoed with a fairly simple, yet somehow so effective sound as the pregnancy test dropped to the floor. It felt slow-motioned, as if the moment would never end, and all you could do was bring a shaky hand to your mouth and breathe out while tears filled your eyes and covered your cheeks. You stared at the pregnancy test in disbelief and disapproval, not wanting to believe the positive result. Not wanting to go through having a vampire baby, or face your boyfriend with news you feared he'd take in the worst possible way.

You lifted the test, and held it in your hand, swallowing thickly as you engaged in a staring contest with the plus sign on the small screen - a contest you were destined to lose. You shook your head, but it slowly turned into an unwilling nod. It was true, whether you wanted it or not, and you had to tell Damon. It wasn't that you didn't want to have a child, though it did scare you quite the bit since you were completely unprepared, but you were afraid Damon would walk out and leave you alone with all the responsibility.

"Oh god", you sighed while getting up and exiting the bathroom to go to your boyfriend. For days now you had suspected that you were pregnant, you had basic symptoms but you just didn't think it'd be real. You weren't prepared or anything, and you were afraid the whole thing would go south on you.

"Damon?", you called out his name, receiving a response from the kitchen where you slowly walked, your gaze on the floor as you entered the room. You looked up at him, and when he saw the tears in your eyes his expression softened and he immediately rushed to you, dropping the knife onto the counter and leaving the beginning of a dinner alone. He gave you a compassionate smile, but before he could say anything, you dropped the bomb.

  "I'm pregnant."

Those two words happened to quite powerful. Damon didn't move or say anything, but his warm smile faded and it caused fear to ignite in your heart. You were afraid of losing him, and with each second it seemed more and more like he was going to walk out any moment now. You sniffled, breathing deeply as tears rolled out of your eyes. The both of you stood in silence, Damon so close to you, you could feel his breathing on your skin but that was precisely what scared you. What would he do, say, feel?

"Damon, please say something", you whispered when it seemed like he wouldn't speak without a push towards it. "Please", you begged, your voice cracking. You hated being desperate and weak, but being confident and brave was hard when the matter was about a baby, and whether you'd have to raise her or him alone or not. It was terrifying, and it caused all of your walls and guards to come down, leaving you fragile and vulnerable, hanging onto the shreds of hope and whatever Damon was willing to give.

"It shouldn't be possible", he let out, but before you could feel frightened, he continued, "but if you're being serious and honest with me, I can't help but feel happy. Y/N, this is a miracle!", and wrapped his arms around you. You opened your mouth to say something, but only a happy chuckle came out, and it quickly turned into a loud laughter of relief and joy. You hugged Damon tightly, and kissed his cheek, your tears meeting his as your lips connected with his soft skin.

"I love you, Y/N. And even though I'm definitely shocked, this is a good thing. I'll be here, for you, and with you", Damon promised, and kissed your lips softly.

And so, you and Damon were one step closer to parenthood.

It was quite interesting, being pregnant. An emotional ride, for sure, and each day there was something that either bothered and irritated you, or made you laugh like a maniac or caused you to cry your eyes out. Damon was constantly going to the store to buy you something, and as much as he loved to please you, it seemed like a challenge he wasn't sure he could beat.

On some days, your back hurt, on others, you just happened to be expectionally moody and annoyed by everything Damon did or said. You had grown a fair amount, mostly on weight and the pregnancy belly was always in the way and irritating you to a point where you just wanted to cry. But luckily your boyfriend was the best possible, and he was always ready to do his everything to make you smile. Though there were days on which you both burned out and argued, until later he'd approach you with apologizes and chocolate to cheer you up. And then, you'd probably yell more but in the end you always found peace.

"Babe, I'm home. And I brought you the movie you asked me to...", Damon trailed off, his words disappering into thin air as he walked further in the house. He couldn't see you, and he was scared that you'd jump out and attack him any moment, so he was wary as he took each step. But eventually, he found on you the living room floor, groaning as you shoved popcorn into your mouth. The movie you had watched ended a long time ago, but you didn't have the strength to move.

"What are you doing there on the floor, sweetie?", Damon asked, grinning as he approached you and sat on the couch, putting aside the movie he had bought like you requested. "C'mon, let me help you up", he added, offering you his hand which you took. You were surprised that even with his vampire strength, which you were certain he had to use, he could lift you although you weighed a ton or two. In your opinion, you had never looked as awful as you did now. One some days, you considered the sight in the mirror beautiful, so natural and so real. You were carrying around your first child, and there was nothing more beautiful than that.

Then there were days like this one.

"The couch was too uncomfortable. My back hurts. Because I'm a fucking hippo, Damon. Having a vampire baby? 0/10 would not recommend", you groaned, sitting on the couch after taking the movie he bought in hand. You knitted your eyebrows together, looking at the cover of the DVD, turning it around and then the other way, until you were convinced he had screwed up, again, as he seemed to do quite often nowadays.

"This isn't the movie I asked for. This is the fucking sequel, Damon. You do not watch the sequel first", you complained, and then tossed the movie on the other side of the room so you could run your hands over your face and let out yet another groan. Damon swallowed thickly, understanding that he had made a mistake, a small one yet it could cost his life. He loved you, but you were fucking dangerous.

"Okay, well, I'll just go and change it?", Damon carefully said, suggesting an alternative, but it came out as a more of a question since he did not want to anger you any further. He had pushed all the wrong buttons, messed up everything he could, although it was about the smallest, tiniest thing ever, something as petty as a DVD he could go and change into the right one, but it still seemed like the end of the world to you. Being pregnant, it seriously messed up your feelings.

"No, no, don't go. I'm such a bitch, sorry baby, you don't deserve being yelled at", you sighed, your attitude taking a complete turn to another direction, "I'm a horrible girlfriend. I'm going to be the worst mom ever."

These mood swings were out of control, really. But Damon didn't know what to do except roll with it, and therefore he could only let his jaw hang open and watch you as you got up and stumbled out of the living room to go to the bathroom and cry there. He followed you quickly though, and you had barely locked the door when he was knocking on it, wanting to hold you and kiss you and comfort you.

"Y/N? Baby, open the door. You're not a bitch, nor a bad girlfriend. You're the best girlfriend, and you will be an awesome mom. The best mom ever", Damon reassured, smiling slightly as he gave a thought to what was only months away now. Soon the two of you would have a baby to take care of, to cuddle with and to spoil until he or she would feel like royalty.

"Really? Better than your mom?", you sniffled and stared at your shaking hands as you sat in the bathroom. It brought you back to the moment when you first found out you were pregnant - whole body shaking, tears in your eyes and on your cheeks, everything distressing you and feeling like you wanted to pause, and rewind to a moment where you wouldn't have to worry so much.

Damon chuckled softly, and it caused you to do the same. "Well, you don't have to do much to be better than my mom. But you'll be the best, I know you will. Y/N, please, unlock the door so I can hug you and make sure you're alright", he explained, worrying about you truly. He tried to open the door, but you hadn't unlocked it yet, and you didn't want to, either.

"No", you disagreed, shaking your head even if he could not see it. "Admit that I'm a liability, Damon. I know you think so, so just say it", you continued, pushing Damon towards a cliff's edge from where he could not run. He'd either have to be pushed into an evident death, which was facing you, or jump himself and take the risk of doing as you wished.

"No, Y/N, what are you even--", he tried, but you didn't let him finish.

"Say it!", you insisted. You wiped tears from your eyes, and put your hand on the lock, ready to open it, as soon as Damon would do as you told him to. And he did.

  "Okay, you're a liability."

Immediately, you yanked the door open and gave him a heartbroken, though fake, look. "How can you say that?!", you cried out, staring into his beautiful eyes that swam in concern and fondness. He opened his mouth to defend himself, which in another case would have been a mistake - the best thing to do was to just go with it and agree on everything you said - but you had already calmed down.

"I'm just kidding", you chuckled, and wrapped your arms around Damon. He breathed out in relief, earning laughter from you while he hugged you tightly. "I'm sorry for yelling and being so irritating. And don't say I haven't been irritating, because I have", you murmured against his chest. You breathed in his scent, adoring everything about him while feeling his warmth against your own body, and his strong muscular arms safely around you.

"No, you haven't. You might think so, I mean, almost everyone probably thinks so, but I don't. I think it's great, seeing you let out some steam once in a while. And even when you cry, you're so beautiful, Y/N, I mean... It makes no sense, how much I love you. When we're older, we'll look back to these days, on which you went batshit crazy yet I still loved you more than ever", he laughed fondly, and placed a soft kiss on your forehead. "I love you", he whispered then, making you smile when those words reached your ears.

"I love you too. I promise, no more crazy Y/N", you giggled.

But it wasn't true. Because the next day, you were already kicking his ass, yelling and crying. But still, Damon sat through it with a fond look in his eyes. His girl had dynamite, yet inside you were all fluff, just like him. Covered with a tough shell, but once you'd crack it, there was the lovable, funny, amazing girl Damon fell for and would always love unconditionally.

And your child, would grow up quite the same.
