Imagine Elijah finding out about your love for literary classics and he starts to spoil you with books

Books, god you loved books. Old classics, and new popular ones, no matter what year they were from, if they had that hooking plot and lovable characters, you were sold. Your shelves, drawers, tables and floors were full of books, although you did try to organize them, but you were always running out of room and somehow you just left them scattered around the house. You didn't mind your bad habit sometimes though, there was nothing better than being bored and finding one of your favorite books while eating alone or sitting in a bathtub.

None of your friends understood you. None of them felt the obsession that you did, none of them agreed with you and none of them knew how to talk about authors that you were loving with your entire heart. Until the Mikaelsons found their way to Mystic Falls. Niklaus was quite the reader, and he enjoyed talking about books and writers with you, while Rebekah took you to shopping and what not, very often. She was like a sister to you, but she did not share your passion for reading. Unlike Elijah, the third sibling of many. Those three were the closest to you, and especially Elijah stuck out.

He was handsome, and charming and kind and to you he was like the sweetest person ever. It didn't take you long to figure out that he was into you, he wanted to spend so much time with you and even Rebekah teased you about his crush. You wanted to take it further, honestly, but you were afraid it would wreck the beautiful friendship you and him quickly grew. He was into books as well, and he would always tell you stories about authors you liked and he had met - after all, he was old and seen the world so he had met several celebrities and important people. It wasn't so special really, but to you, hearing about his meeting with already deceased, wonderful authors blew your mind.

He didn't know about your love for books, and classics especially at first, but he figured it out quickly. After all, you were one to talk about books most of the time, so it wasn't an impossible mission.

"Do you like to read, Y/N?", Elijah asked. Three days ago, you had met, and he had asked you to come to his family's house. The rest of his siblings were busy and not home, so he saw it his opportunity to get to know you better. He was quite intrigued, you seemed like the perfect girl with your great personality and amazing appearance. He had never seen someone as beautiful and amazing as you. And god, he so deeply wished you would like to read.

And damn right you did.

"I do! Reading is definitely my favorite thing in the world. I love books, books, books, books, books, Elijah. Books", you let out, not capable of holding in your excitement. Elijah lifted an eyebrow and flashed a wild grin, happy to hear you say so, and he nodded in agreement. He did love books as well. He acted calmly, but inside, he was going crazy, his dead heart felt like beating like never before and his insides were probably going to melt. He was so hopelessly in love with you. You were perfect.

"I presume you have heard about people like Hawthorne and Poe...? How do you like their work?", Elijah continued to conversation, and only that made you want to marry him. Some guys liked to ask questions and then move on to the next one like it was no big deal, but to Elijah, reading was obviously something more than to some people, and he was passionate about the subject and knew enough to carry on the conversation.

A smile appeared on your face, and you nodded your head rapidly. "Are you serious? Elijah, I love their works!", you squealed, and made him smile widely too. God, he loved you so much. He chuckled, and fiddled with his fingers somewhat nervously, but you were sure you were misreading it because why would Elijah Mikaelson, a sexy, smart Original be nervous and shy around you?

Honestly, you weren't misreading him at all - he was very nervous around you. He had never felt that way - even with other women in his life he had treated confidently and was always packed with quick replies and smart comments, but around you, he felt so vulnerable and weak. That was what true love did. And he was old enough to understand that what he was feeling towards you, was strong, and real, and would never die.

But telling you about his feelings would be for another time. Right now, he wanted to talk about books and authors more with you.

"Yes, they were a couple of quite nice men", Elijah replied, making your jaw, literally, drop. You stared at him in disbelief, a part of you sure that he was just messing with you, but then again, he did have the age and all that to have actually met those two epic authors.

"Wait- what?", you asked, not capable of saying anything else. Elijah chuckled, and told you all about them, and all the other great people he had met during his long, long life. You were kind of jealous, but still, in amazement, you listened to his stories for hours, and hours - when you suddenly noticed the sun coming up.

And that's how you understood Elijah had to be the one, the love of your life. He was made for you, you were convinced that it was a match made in heaven. Soon, you and Elijah started deepening your relationship, and in no time, he was closer to you than anyone else.

As you grew closer, Elijah decided to spoil you with gifts. The best kind of gifts too - books. Each week you received a new one, a great book that you possibly already owned but hell, you were getting books from Elijah Mikaelson, so giving away the books you had bought yourself before, wasn't too hard for you. The books usually arrived on Wednesday, it was always on your doorstep, nicely wrapped in red gift string and a cute little note on top of it where he often wished you happy reading or something else lovely.

Your shelf that you had cleaned up quickly filled with books like The Great Gatsby, The Lord of the Rings, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, The Maze Runner - and that was only the beginning of the beginning. Dozens of books were sent to you, and it was like from a movie - days passed, seasons changed, and your love for Elijah only burned hotter and hotter day by day. He made sure to send some works by Poe and Hawthorne too, including books you had only heard rumors of, and thought were never published, since you both shared interest for them and their books, and talking about the two authors had brought you very close.

When on one Wednesday, Elijah's usual book didn't arrive, concern and disappointment washed over you. A part of you was worried, Elijah was always in time, the book was always on your porch at a specific time and even outside this habit he had grown for you, he was always perfect and didn't forget things. You were worried that something had happened, but you reminded yourself that perhaps you just weren't as special as you had thought. Perhaps Elijah had something else to take care of, and couldn't send a new book to you. But that was what highlighted the disappointment in you. Had you miscalculated your and his relationship?

But then your doorbell rang, and you literally ran to the door and yanked it open roughly. You didn't see Elijah, or anyone else either, but at your feet was a new book. You took it in your hands, and smiled at the title, The Perks of Being a Wallflower. You had read a lot about it, several positive comments and you had somehow seen the movie already, so reading the book seemed like a perfect idea. How did he know?

What really took your attention though, was the note on top of the book. It wasn't a short, 'Have a nice day' or 'Hope you enjoy this one', it was something more. You started to read, and felt your mouth twitching up.

"Forgive me, I do not usually come behind my usual time, but I've had a busy day and that is why I am this late. Hope this book makes it up, though. If it does not, then I suggest you let me apologize by taking you out tonight. I expect you to be in your loveliest dress when I show up at 7 pm. :)"

You giggled, mostly at the smiling face in the end, and went inside, where you placed the book on a table. You couldn't read, you had a dress to pick.
