Chapter 3: Gifts and Old Friends
Fallacy had slept awfully, ever since he had fallen asleep with a head full of horrific thoughts of never waking up he had been haunted by dreams that made him shake.
He had probably only slept for about 1 hour before the nightmares struck upon him looking for their reward of fear.
And they got that.
He had been running, but it had been no use. No matter how many times he had tried to escape the claws and snapping jaws, no matter how hard he had tried to hide.
They always caught him.
Always ripped his happiness apart.
Always violated his strength and his once known safety.
They were like animals.
Hunting down their prey with so much ease that it only took seconds for Fallacy to fall into another nightmare to be ripped up.
And sometimes he saw his family in the distance.
Tried to each out towards them before in caves by jaws which closed in from around him.
The definition of horrific.

Encre woke up, her eyes shooting open as she quickly stumbled out of bed and ran into the separate room - also known as the bathroom. She quickly leaned over the toilet before throwing up, her mouth being quenched with the sour taste. Coughing filled the room as she continued to throw up, not the nicest scene. A small groan escaped her as she breathed much more rapidly, a hand on her stomach as she stayed there.
Jasper was still fast asleep, slightly shifting to his side as got comfortable under the covers. Fallacy, however, was tossing and turning trying to reach out for Encre who he thought was beside him. After five minutes of constant moving did he open one of his eyes with a slightly confused look, sitting up and rubbing his face before looking around for her.
Then he heard the sound of retching and almost flung himself out of bed, rushing to the bathroom and sighing as he saw his wife who was obviously not having the greatest moment of her life. He crouched down and rubbed her back in circular motions as he smiled reassuringly, "it's alright..."
Encre coughed slightly and spitting out the awful taste before leaning into the vampire who watched her. "This... is so.... a-annoying," she smiled slightly, eyes half open and her face paler.
Fallacy, who returned the smile, scooped her up and held her close before walking back over to the bed, sitting her up and pulling the covers over her legs with a smile. "Just get some more rest, you need it." He walked over to the door. "I'll get the maids to get you some medicine which may ease the pain."
Encre nodded and rubbed her eyes with a wince.
With a sigh, Fallacy left the room, closing the door behind him quietly and then walked down the red-carpeted hallways. Occasionally glancing at the ancient paintings as he passed by.
It was still early dawn and candles were lit, windows covered in those blood-red curtains.
A few maids scurried by and he stopped Bunny who blushed lightly like she usually did- jerk. "Y-Yes, Lord Fallacy?"
He straightened his back, "could you get some medicine for Encre? She's feeling a bit light-headed." The maid nodded and bowed, then hurried off the to the healing ward.
Fallacy rubbed his face and turned into a bat, flying to his study where he turned back to his usual form. There were a few letters piled on his desk and he groaned at the sight, flopping into his chair and leaning back, staring at the ceiling which was covered in golden murals which dated back thousands of years ago.
His eyes closed.
The ceiling he often stared up upon when he was in the study while his father worked. No conversation between them. Just silence, the occassional rustle of paper and the rare eye-contact.
That was the only time he really spent time with his father after his mother died...
He was young... too young infact.
To young to suffer the loss of someone who was so dear to him, the only person who loved and cared for him. Dead... just... gone...
And then stuck with a father who gave him a name that meant nothing but disgust and hatred. The name he was given when he was born. Just seen as weak, a mistake and something that would never be strong.
And yet over the years... his father never noticed how hard his son tried to be strong and be what his father wanted.
Like how many times he came back covered in bruises and cuts, dragging mortals with him and killing and slaughtering them before the feet of his father. His hands dripping with crimson blood of the innocent people he had murdered just to try... try to be seen. Noticed....
But his father would just scoff or kiss his teeth, then wave him off just like that. Dismissed like he was nothing more than a jester or a servant who was nothing special to the king of vampires. His father.
He would walk out, dragging the mangled body like he had done so many times. Dump it deep in the forest for the beasts of the night to feed on, then go to his room and sob.
The Prince... who was alone...
a prince whom his father expected to be alone for the rest of his long and immortal-like life.
So he gave up, didn't try and show off. He just kept to the shadows, made sure to never go into his father's view.
But he went out into the forest everyday. Trained himself to kill home, trained himself how to shift into a bat and such.
It was worth it.
Fallacy opened his eyes slowly, the murals on the wall still gold and shining, looking down at him. He exhaled softly and sat up, wincing a little and looking around his study. Quiet... like it had always been those many years ago.
He got up and glanced at the grandfather clock that leaned against one of the walls, its hands moving quietly before it started to chime. A sound he had heard so many times.
Maybe he should check on the others... Stretching his arms he then walked out of the study, closing the ancient doors before walking down the hallways. Admiring the paintings, red curtains and carpeted floors as he had always done.
Suave hummed as he walked down the hallway, nodding a bow to Fallacy who simply smiled. Exchanging looks.
"I hope you had a wonderful rest, M'Lord. And I do hope Mrs. Encre has been alright through the night," he spoke in his usual polite tone, adjusting his glasses with his gloved hands.
Fallacy sighed, his eye-lights dimming. "She wasn't in the best shape but I was able to get her back to bed. A simple breakfast is all she needs for now."
Suave smiled, "of course. I'll get it straight to your room."
He bowed and turned to leave but Fallacy gently grabbed his shoulder causing Suave to jerk and blinked, "y-yes, M'Lord?"
Fallacy chuckled, "Thank you. For your support. And also... I hope you spend more time with Jasper~" He winked, teleporting away.
Suave was left there- silent and frozen before his face exploded in bright pink.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Fallacy was smirking when he teleported to the door of his room, soon walking in and smiled when he saw Jasper talking to Encre who was awake and looking a little better.
Jasper looked over to Fallacy and smiled, "morning, dad! Ms. Bunny came round with some medicine for Encre and she feels much better!" Encre chuckled a little, smiling softly and weakly.
Fallacy sighed in relief, sitting down on the side of the bed. "That's glad to hear..." His wings folded up behind him as he rubbed his eyes, glancing to where he had put the two necklaces in the drawer.
"Jasper?" Jasper looked over to Fallacy happily. "Could you let me and Encre have a chat? Alone?"
Jasper nodded and hugged Encre before running out happily, probably to look for Suave. The door closed behind him and Fallacy smiled to Encre, softly taking her hands and rubbing them gently.
"Encre...? I love you so much, "he chuckled gently. He looked to the drawer and his strings were summoned, drifting over to them and into the drawer before taking the small bag. Fallacy got the bag and took out one of the necklaces. He leaned over, putting it on Encre who watched nervously with a confused look.
Once he pulled away Encre looked to the heart on the necklace which was glowing a small green, she gasped in delight as she admired it. "Oh mon Dieu! It's beautiful!!" She smiled brightly and hugged Fallacy tightly.
Fallacy chuckled, "I have no idea what you just said but I'm guessing it means good." He rubbed Encre's back gently, small circular motions. Encre leaned into him, sighing in content. "I love it..."
"Good, "he smiled and got the other necklace out, putting it on. "Now we have matching necklaces."
Encre smiled happily and leaned back into the pillows.
She fiddled with the necklace, humming a tune to herself.
The blue bird which had been perched on the bed flew over and landed on Encre's head, fluffing up its feathers as Encre looked up at it and giggled. "aw..."
Fallacy smiled at the sight before getting up, "I should be on my way... I have a few matters to attend to." Encre nodded.
He kissed Encre's cheek before opening the door, turning into a bat and flying out. The door closing behind him with his magic.
Fallacy flew down the hallway and down the stairs, turning back into his skeleton form. His wings folding and vanishing as he looked around and then to the doors.
Jasper ran past, being chased by Suave who was gripped his hat,"Prince Jasper wait!"
Fallacy watched with a smile before the front doors opened.
Two cloaked figures walked in, looking around as their boots clinked.
They then looked to Fallacy and he chuckled. "Nice to see you two here."
The taller one bowed and smiled, "and a pleasure to see you again, Fallacy."He adjusted his hat and Macabre smirked, his dark eyes glowing. And beside him, Cruzar who had also pulled down his hood with gloved hands.
Fallacy grinned, "I see you got my letter?"
Macabre nodded, pulling the wax-sealed letter which had been opened. "You summoned us? Something about... Hunting down someone~?"
